User questions & answers
Question: | Where is this made |
Answer: | Japan |
Question: | Can it be used as a tire buffer |
Answer: | Hi, you should used the CP873 or similar because the CP860 is high rpm tool |
Question: | Will this tool accept a 3/8 in collet |
Answer: | Normally not. If there is an adaptor to reduce from 1/4" maybe. You must try to find it. |
Question: | Can a homestyle 5.5cfm compressor run this tool |
Answer: | The spec for the tool says 5.25 cfm but does not specify a pressure. I believe the operating pressure is about 90 psi. I use a 25 gallon compressor rated at 9.1 cfm (40 psi) and 7.1 cfm (90 psi). The compressor starts almost immediately and runs continuously during tool operation. |

Answer: | Whether your brass was fitted to black iron and the rust built up that way, you have lime/scale/mineral build up, or heavy oxidation you should be able to remove it using this grinder and your compressor combo. Your compressor is on the small side and will run nonstop. The tool will also be underpowered compared to running it on a larger compressor but with the proper choice in abrasive or bit you should be able to get the job done. Depending on how heavy the build up is and how important a fine finish is on the brass, you may need several different abrasives. The short answer is yes, this gun and your compressor are less than ideal matches, but you should be able to work with them. |
Question: | I have a 29 gal 2 hp compressor rated 5.9 scfm @ 90psi. will this be enough for the cfm requirements? says above that average air consumption 6 but |
Answer: | It should have a enough air because of thr volume of air you have. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do you know how much grease to put in the head or what kind or the needle size |
Answer: | There are small pump grease guns specifically for air tools. They are available through Ingersol Rand, and other companies. The grease for this particular line of IR tools should be from IR. It’s safe to put in about three good shots of grease. Don’t overdo it. Seal damage can occur and reduce the life of the tool. |
Question: | Cfm requirements?? Anyone |
Answer: | 3 cfm to operate, 18 cfm draw over long pulls. |
Question: | Ingersoll and rand suppose to be the best of the best.. Are these just cheap knockoffs or these real deal |
Answer: | No they are not knockoffs, its the real deal. I went through a few cheap ones that didn`t last. This grinder is rock solid and I can see it lasting me forever. Highly recommend! |
Question: | How do you put grease in the grease port |
Answer: | Where the tool transitions 90 degrees, there is a little raised ball on the one side...it's spring loaded. You need a pointed grease adapter, a needle but not the hypodermic needle...a chainsaw grease gun works well. Oil through the air port never gets to the 90 degree portion of the tool. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Required CFM |
Answer: | It’ll average about 3 cfm. It’s happiest between 5-7. Great tool. Mine seem to last forever. I use them in the shop on the shop compressor and in my service trucks at a lower cfm. No problem with either setup, just be sure and keep your tools properly lubricated, and free of “wet” air. |
Question: | How do I grease this grinder? I don't see a fitting for a grease gun |
Answer: | As an air tool it gets greased with air tool oil added to the air inlet |
Question: | Is this small enough to fit inside of a 3" pipe |
Answer: | The die grinder itself is. I don't know what kind of attachment you have. |
Question: | What is the RPM? Can you vary the speed |
Answer: | 27,000 rpm wide open. Yes, you can vary the speed with the trigger. I definitely recommend this die grinder it's very smooth and powerful! |
