The important thing is to use american made wheels which are balanced. cheap wheels will make the grinders vibrate, the cheap wire wheels will through the wires, out. Answer:	No special bulb needed, two switches have to be in the on position for the light to work. The switch on top of the light and the power switch for the grinder itself. And of coarse the grinder has to be plugged in. I use an LED bulb on mine. Everything works great.

Answer:	I've used it several times for light grinding without it being mounted and it stayed in place very well. The grinding was for sharpening mower blades and some light shaping, nothing that required more than very light pressure on the grinder. With that being said, if it is not mounted, even with light grinding it can 'walk' around so it's important to keep an eye on it and make sure that it stays in a safe position.

Answer:	If you are serious about making knives, I would get heavier and mote powerful.

Answer:	2 holes at the bottom for bolts to secure to a bench. Place Bench Grinder on workbench, use holes as a template and mark with pen the 2 positions for the bolts. Remove Grinder, drill holes and secure with bolts, washers and nuts. Ten minutes.
