Attention

You should always hold the angle grinder out of line with your face and body while cutting.

Holding the angle grinder too rigidly can make it difficult to cut straight and can side load the disk. Side loading the disk (the face of the disk is grinding against the edge of the kerf) can cause the disk to wear out prematurely and damage the fiberglass mess that holds the disk together. Letting the disk follow the cut without forcing it will give the best results. Keeping the disk moving will help to prevent it from binding in the cut, and also make the cutting action more efficient.

Question:	What is the functional difference between this and the "quick change" model? Pro and Cons
Answer:	There are two main differences between the "quick" model and the one without. First, the "quick" utilizes a special quick nut and feature in the grinder head that allows for tool-less wheel changes. Once the on/off switch is turned off and the grinder is slowing down, you can simply hit a button and the quick nut will loosen enough that removal can be done in about two hand turns once the grinder has stopped. Secondly, the quick feature allows for a safety clutch in the head, which disengages the wheel when bound. That is a great safety feature and well worth the extra money in my opinion. I have both grinders, and they are basically identical other than those two features.

Question:	How do you know how much grease to put in the head or what kind or the needle size
Answer:	There are small pump grease guns specifically for air tools. They are available through Ingersol Rand, and other companies. The grease for this particular line of IR tools should be from IR. It’s safe to put in about three good shots of grease. Don’t overdo it. Seal damage can occur and reduce the life of the tool.

Answer:	3 cfm to operate, 18 cfm draw over long pulls.

Answer:	No they are not knockoffs, its the real deal. I went through a few cheap ones that didn`t last. This grinder is rock solid and I can see it lasting me forever. Highly recommend!
Question:	How do you put grease in the grease port
Answer:	Where the tool transitions 90 degrees, there is a little raised ball on the one side...it's spring loaded. You need a pointed grease adapter, a needle but not the hypodermic needle...a chainsaw grease gun works well. Oil through the air port never gets to the 90 degree portion of the tool.

Answer:	My grinder was made in China, along with the case and attachments. Makita Corp is in Japan, but as with all tool manufacturers they have component plants in cheaper labor counties even if they have assembly plants in higher wage countries. But my Makita's of late, all seem to be made and assembled in China.

Answer:	The model I received, Makita 9557PBX1 4-1/2-Inch grinder, is not variable speed. Nowhere on or included with the grinder indicates variable speed - only one speed, no load 10,000 rpm.

Answer:	Yes it comes with all the accessories, I don't know why it says "tool only". But be aware that the description mentions features that the tool does not have: no soft start, no AC/DC switch, no rotatable head unless you remove 4 screws.

Question:	What cup wheels do you guys recommend for this guard? i received a bosch dc4530h today and it extended below the shroud about
Answer:	Checkout matabo, I think they might have 5" dust shroud. I bought the Bosch 5" and a makita 7" that is similar to the Bosch. They both suck, just as much dust as without using the shroud. I use matabo 7" and it collects about 98% of the dust. The bristles on the Bosch don't stop the dust from escaping.
Question:	The 5" concord cup wheel extends below the shroud about 1/8". Is this normal or is there a better cup wheel to use that doesn't extend so far down
Answer:	I used a dewalt double row, I think it was the 4 1/2". The brush ring should stick past the grinding wheel otherwise the dust will not get vacuumed up well.The dewalt wheel was awesome, after it finally work out after a lot of use I tried a bigger diameter wheel thinking it would be better but it stuck down too far and the dust collection suffered.

Answer:	Nor sure. I only have Bosch grinders. The Bosch has a collar that looks like a gear wirh teeth. This has to fit on that part to lock in place. I do not believe the Dewalt is made this way.

Question:	Are there any type 1 guards available for this? If so, what is the part number
Answer:	Sorry I don’t know what a type one guard is I do know the existing guard is not interchangeable with all other models and other brands. Before I would purchase for a different guard I would be sure and get with the manufacturer so you get the right one.
Question:	Bought a disc type 27 but the arbor isn't thick enough, the disc is loose & spins in place. Does it have to be Skil brand in order to work
Answer:	No, it doesn't have to be a Skil brand disc to fit, you just got an unusually thin disk. All you have to do is put a washer or two on the shaft, one on each side if you need to use two. Just size the washer to the machine's arbor, 5/8", if that's what you have, or 7/8", depending on your grinder.
Question:	Why can't diamond blades be used with this model? Want to cut through stucco wall. I have general purpose Makita diamond blade model
Answer:	Hello Dennis! The 9296-01 is not recommended for cutting, as we do not offer a cutting guard. This tool should be used for grinding only.

Question:	Reviewers of the preceding model mentioned this grinder not being compatible with a knotted wire cup brush. Why was that and does that apply here
Answer:	Thank you for your question. The GWS10-45P will accept a knotted wire cup wheel, however, there are safety warnings regarding it. Examples: wire bristles are thrown by the brush even during ordinary operation. Also, if a certain wire wheels recommended using a guard need to make sure there is no interference of the wheel or brush with the guard. Answer:	Yup, works with 3 amp. I also use 4 amp batteries. The main difference is the length of time the tool will will run with strong power. Depending on what you need, in terms of how long you plan to grind, 3 amp may be enough. I have 2 spare batteries that I charge on the dual fast charger. The grinder will take two batteries to empty before one is charged full if grinder is used at full load virtually constantly. Don’t get me wrong, I think that this is a great tool

Answer:	It should fit most grinders but the issue is its only meant for concrete and diamond cup. I tried to use it for polishing and it didnt work there is no depth adjustment.

Question:	The instructions talk about using spacers. What are spacers
Answer:	If the grinding wheel you have is thin, it will not reach the base of the brush on the shroud. I had to drill out flat washers to put above the grinding wheel to get the cutting surface down low enough to work with the shroud. It depends on the dimensions of the grinding wheel you use.
