Question: | Can I use it to cut sheet metal |
Answer: | Yes Well-used tool |
Question: | The makita xag04 needs optional "rubber pad 115" and "sanding lock nut 5/8-48" for the abrasive (cut off) disk. where can i purchase these? part #s |
Answer: | If you can't find in EBay, try Makita directly ! |
Question: | Will this work with a 3 amp battery (18v makita)? if so, how will it perform vs using the 5 amp battery |
Answer: | Yup, works with 3 amp. I also use 4 amp batteries. The main difference is the length of time the tool will will run with strong power. Depending on what you need, in terms of how long you plan to grind, 3 amp may be enough. I have 2 spare batteries that I charge on the dual fast charger. The grinder will take two batteries to empty before one is charged full if grinder is used at full load virtually constantly. Don’t get me wrong, I think that this is a great tool |
Question: | What is the difference between makita xag04z and makita xag09z ( the main question is if there power difference |

User questions & answers
Question: | how does it compare to xag04z ? thanks |
Answer: | It doesn't come with the charger. The battery can be charged in other Makita tools that have a charger using the same battery. |
Question: | What is the difference between the xago9z and the xago4z |
Answer: | This should take everything besides the very old 3.0 and older 1.5 ah batteries. Even then, you can file a couple plastic tabs off the battery to make it work. Battery should have a star on it. I have ran this grinder with a 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 ah batteries. It is a great tool and big upgrade from my 1st gen Makita xlt grinder |
Question: | Wheres the charger |
Answer: | No. Craftsman has some tools that use the black and decker batteries, some that use their C3 batteries, and these. The V20 is it’s own deal and it does not interchange with anything else. It’s a cluster considering that there are two different craftsman batteries that sound and look alike (20V and V20) that don’t interchange. |
Question: | What size battery is required to operate this tool |
Answer: | It did not. It is an add on tool. There are no batteries or chargers with this item. Hope that helps. Works really well though. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it include the correct cutting tool for metal? Looking to cut aluminum |
Answer: | No it does not include a metal cutting wheel. I’m assuming you mean the cutting wheel as the grinder the tool. The only items that come with is tool is the items listed. |
Question: | Hello |
Answer: | My grinder was made in China, along with the case and attachments. Makita Corp is in Japan, but as with all tool manufacturers they have component plants in cheaper labor counties even if they have assembly plants in higher wage countries. But my Makita's of late, all seem to be made and assembled in China. |
Question: | The product description indicates that this is a variable speed grinder "Speed:2800 rpm [Min], 10500 rpm [Max]". Is this correct |
Answer: | The model I received, Makita 9557PBX1 4-1/2-Inch grinder, is not variable speed. Nowhere on or included with the grinder indicates variable speed - only one speed, no load 10,000 rpm. |
Question: | The product listing says this grinder package come with various accessories, but the ad says "style: tool only". does this come with the accessories |
Answer: | Yes it comes with all the accessories, I don't know why it says "tool only". But be aware that the description mentions features that the tool does not have: no soft start, no AC/DC switch, no rotatable head unless you remove 4 screws. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this have a locking trigger |
Answer: | It has 5/8" diameter 11 threads to the inch. The grinder uses a wheel with a 7/8" hole. |
Question: | Is the guard "tool free" to rotate it or does it need a phillips screwdriver to loosen |
Answer: | The box says "Assembled in the USA". Unfortunately, most power tools have components that are made in China or Thailand and then they are assembled here in the US. |
Question: | Is this is 5/8" Lock nut, I have 5/8" wheels |
Answer: | You can go to makita's website and select the different models to compare. In this case the only difference is the type of switch it uses to turn it off and on. |
Question: | Can anyone confirm this grinder still made in Japan if you purchased in 2017 or recently. I saw Makita power tools made in China/Thailand in HD. Thx |
Answer: | any makita 18v battery should work fine with any other makita 18v cordless product. The only difference is the rating of the battery and how many cells are in it, so some will last longer. |

Question: | What size is the arbor |
Answer: | I think that you mean the 17-924 not 17-024. That said I looked at the delta website and could not determine the collet size. I am using the chisel on a standalone mortiser and it has different collets to support the different size chisels.Sorry I could not be of more help. |
Question: | This grinder/cut off is great because it can go down to such a low rpm. how can polishing pads be mounted to the 7/8 head |
Answer: | Check out this web page: https://www.fisch-tools.com/assets/documents/0382-Hohlstemmer_Set.pdf. I have a Powermatic machine, both Jet & Powermatic are made by the same manufacture, I would think they would fit a Jet. Check your Jet specs to the Fisch specs on the above web address |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this cordless |
Answer: | No |
Question: | Does ir have a speed dial on the back |
Answer: | No. Even with a buffer attachment, the rpm produced by this tool, would destroy the finish on a car. Swirl marks would be heavy and you could possibly take the paint off your car. Use a product that is built for that task. |
Question: | Can I use this to polish car |
Answer: | Yes, it does have a locking trigger. |
Question: | Is it safe to buff or applying wax on the car |
Answer: | It needs a phillips screw driver to loosen guard. |
