Answer:	This machine IS a vacuum, and a very good one. With the supplied filterse it meets requirements for lead based paint projects as required by the epa. It's also a portable dust collection system. With the right adapters for your miter saw or table saw's dust port, plug vacuum into the wall and plug table saw or chop saw into the electric outlet of the vacuum. Soon as you hit the trigger and cut a piece of wood, vacuum kicks on and catches majority of sawdust. Another great feature is how the dual filtration system backflushes one filter as the other runs and vice versa.

Answer:	I’ve never had any line noise or popping using optical. That is via a TV not computer but can’t imagine it would be different. The only popping I’ve ever had was if the power was pulled from the unit and then plugged back in while the volume was up but you shouldn’t ever need to unplug it, it doesn’t run hot or draw power when the switch is off.

However, Makita, in their infinite wisdom, made the 1.5in/38mm nozzle a little smaller (37mm) than industry standard so as to not fit any other manufacturers' industry-standard 1.5in attachments. Makita also doesn't include a round brush nozzle, which is always super handy especially with portable shopvacs (nor do those geniuses even offer a "1.5in/38mm" brush nozzle attachment). It would've been a 5-star product otherwise.

Answer:	There is no 'cord'.. the charger plugs into the bottom of the shaver and directly into an electrical outlet. I had an earlier model/version of this shaver and can tell you that after some time the connection between the shaver and charger loosens and isn't as reliable as charging with a cord.

Answer:	I suspect that the description weight is for the filter bag only. The entire unit weight is probably near 50 lbs. I have not weighted mine. It rolls easily. I really like the feature that allows me to lock the FESTOOL cases for the saw, sander, and others on top of the vacuum and roll them around. The size of this unit is also very convenient in my small shop. I am not a professional but just use it at home.
