Answer:	I just received my Quilo 14000btu unit and set it up. It's not quiet. When the fan is running, well, it sounds like a fan. That's okay. But when the compressor kicks in, it has a low frequency annoyingly grumbling noise like the old time refrigerators did when the compressors got worn. Would I prefer the noise over being stuffy-hot inside? Yes. Would I prefer the noise over being a little uncomfortably warm? No. For the record, I also just purchased an Emerson Quiet Kool 8000 BTU unit. It's a lower power compressor, and it's half as noisy. I wish I had bought the Emerson 14000BTU unit for the front room instead of the Quilo, but to tell the truth, I don't know how the noise of those two 14000BTU units compare. And they're too expensive to just buy them to test out. It's odd that the Db ratings are louder for the Emerson, but the actual experience is that it's quieter. We'll see how well they cool this summer.

Answer:	It does NOT split vertically. The maximum length it will split is 19", but it will have a hard time splitting green wood. Best to season the wood for at least 12 months, unless you have a kiln to speed up the process, then you can split it.

Answer:	I do not know where it is made, EasyGoProducts is based in Southern California, I am sure many of their products are sourced from overseas.
Question:	what's the width of the blade
Answer:	This is not the model i bought. Not sure what you are trying to do but these are made for Kindling... It won't fit more that a 6" or 8" inch log which is really a good size limb. I will use mine for kindling but I expected it to be much bigger able to accommodate larger pieces of wood.
Question:	does this require sharpening
Answer:	The Jack Jr is pre-sharpened and ready to go as soon as you get it. However, like any cutting/splitting tool it will benefit from resharpening as needed.
