3 best jigsaw blade for metal
Jigsaw blades for metal are specialized cutting tools designed to be used with a jigsaw, a power tool commonly used for making curved or intricate cuts in various materials, including metal. These blades are essential for tasks that require precision and versatility when working with metal sheets, pipes, or other metalwork.
Here is what you need to know about jigsaw blades for metal:
Material Compatibility: Jigsaw blades for metal are constructed with materials that can withstand the rigors of cutting through metal. They are typically made from high-speed steel (HSS) or bi-metal. Bi-metal blades have a toothed edge made of high-speed steel attached to a flexible and durable body, providing a combination of sharpness and resilience.
Tooth Design: Metal-cutting jigsaw blades feature specific tooth designs optimized for cutting through metal. These teeth are typically smaller and finer compared to blades designed for wood or other materials. Some blades may have additional features like T-shank profiles for easy and secure attachment to the jigsaw.
TPI (Teeth Per Inch): The TPI of a jigsaw blade refers to the number of teeth per inch along the cutting edge. Blades for metal cutting often have a higher TPI count, which allows for smoother and more precise cuts in metal. A higher TPI count also helps reduce the risk of blade binding during the cutting process.
Cutting Thickness: Jigsaw blades for metal come in various thicknesses to accommodate different metal thicknesses and types. It's essential to select the appropriate blade thickness for the specific metal you intend to cut. Thicker metals may require heavier-duty blades.
Cutting Speed: When using a jigsaw blade for metal, it's important to control the cutting speed. Slower speeds are often recommended for cutting metal to ensure accuracy and prevent overheating of the blade.
Safety Precautions: When working with jigsaw blades for metal, wear appropriate safety gear, including safety glasses and gloves, to protect yourself from metal shards and sparks. Additionally, ensure that the workpiece is securely clamped or held in place to prevent it from moving during cutting.
Maintenance: Proper maintenance of your jigsaw blades is crucial to ensure their longevity and performance. Clean the blades after use to remove any metal debris and store them in a dry place to prevent corrosion.
Jigsaw blades for metal are valuable tools for metalworkers, DIY enthusiasts, and professionals who need to make precise and intricate cuts in metal materials. Choosing the right blade for your specific metal-cutting needs and using it correctly will help you achieve clean and accurate results in your metalworking projects.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can these blades be used for plunge cuts |
Answer: | Hello Pete A. I've had good luck with this blade. I haven't tried Fence Pipe. However if it's 3/16 in. thich it should be no problem. What you need to realize is this saw blade turns at low speed upon the saw it was made for. with few teeth and the slow speed, it becomes imperative to have the work very securely held.if it moves it can cause the blade to hang up momentarily and break off several of the teeth. Your $100 blade is then History. I did this and had to replace it. Also use no lube and try to hold the saw feed arm very solidly in your grip. Feed it slowly, you'll be able to feel the vibration, especially as it starts cutting. Pay attention to the instructions as to holding the work. If used properly it'll last a long time, but don't force it as one would do with a chop saw. I've cut 1/2 x 3 angle with no problem. It's not intended for non ferrous metals, such as aluminum---------Good Luck ! Al |
Question: | I have the ryobi cordless jigsaw that uses t shank, will this work |
Answer: | I have been in tool repair for many years and the answer to you question is that you really shouldn't. There is typically a 3 to 600 rpm difference in a traditional chop saw vs a cold cut metal saw. As well as the difference in the size and strength of the gears and bearings internally. A number of things can very likely go wrong. The simplest being breaking gear or premature bearing failure. They could be as bad as a tooth on the blade catching your work piece and bucking hard enough to seriously hurt someone. That's my two cents |
Question: | Others have bought these blades for the B&D Piranha, so I assume they're compatible? Does this set include wood, metal & plastic (PVC) blades |
Answer: | Yes you can. We cut .20-.25" wall pipe every day with this blade. 2-3/8" to 3-1/2" OD pipe. |
Question: | Are these bimetal blades |
Answer: | If the arbor is the same . it will cut pipe, and by rights , should cut a lot more than the 10 cuts you need, now if you are asking if, it will make that cut in one stroke. you would have to measure the amount of exposed blade expected that is not encumbered by saw parts. |
