13 best metal cutting blade for chopsaw
A metal cutting blade for a chop saw, also known as a cut-off wheel or abrasive chop saw blade, is a specialized type of circular saw blade designed for cutting through metal materials. These blades are commonly used in various industrial and DIY applications for cutting metal rods, pipes, sheets, and other metal objects. Here's what you need to know about metal cutting blades for chop saws:
Material: Metal cutting blades for chop saws are typically made of abrasive materials, such as aluminum oxide or silicon carbide. These abrasives are bonded together to create a strong and durable cutting edge.
Design: These blades have a flat, circular shape with a diameter that matches the size of the chop saw's arbor. The blade's thickness can vary depending on the specific application and material being cut.
Cutting Action: Metal cutting blades for chop saws work by abrasive action rather than cutting teeth like traditional circular saw blades. They grind away the metal material as they rotate, creating a clean and precise cut.
Compatibility: It's crucial to ensure that you select a metal cutting blade that is compatible with your specific chop saw model and the type of metal you intend to cut. Different blades are designed for different metals and thicknesses.
Safety: When using a metal cutting blade, it's essential to wear appropriate safety gear, including safety glasses and hearing protection, as these blades can generate sparks and noise. Adequate ventilation is also important to remove metal dust and fumes.
Cooling: Some metal cutting blades for chop saws have special features or coatings designed to reduce heat build-up during cutting, which can help extend the blade's lifespan.
Clean Cuts: These blades are known for producing clean and precise cuts in metal, which is crucial for tasks that require accurate sizing and shaping of metal materials.
Durability: Metal cutting blades are built to withstand the rigors of cutting through tough metal materials, and they tend to have a longer lifespan when compared to standard wood-cutting circular saw blades.
Application: Metal cutting blades for chop saws are commonly used in metalworking shops, construction sites, and fabrication facilities. They are suitable for cutting a wide range of metals, including steel, aluminum, and copper.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance, such as cleaning the blade and ensuring it's properly tightened on the chop saw's arbor, is essential to ensure optimal performance and safety.
In summary, a metal cutting blade for a chop saw is a specialized circular saw blade designed for cutting metal materials with precision and efficiency. It is an essential tool for various metalworking and fabrication tasks, providing clean cuts and durability for both professional and DIY users.

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone cut a section of r.r. track with this blade |
Answer: | I have not and would not recommend it. You wouldn't get an inch into the r.r. track before you burned up the carbide teeth. A bandsaw would be more suited for that task, or even and abrasive cutoff saw. |
Question: | Will this blade replace an abrasive chop saw blade |
Answer: | This blade cannot be used on a chop saw. The RPM on a chop saw is too high for this blade. The maximum RPM this blade can be used with is 1800. A chop saw would use 3800 RPM. |
Question: | What revolutions neede to cut metals |
Answer: | You could go as slow as around200 rpm and the "slow speed" metal cutting saws, made for carbide toothed blades work fine but don't install this on a saw meant for an abrasive blade. The RPMs are too high and will destroy the blade in short time, unless you only cut wood or aluminum but not steel. Also be aware that small stuff, like1/8" round stock bundled, will catch the teeth and not work well. But for angle iron, tubing, etc, it works great. |
Question: | Will this work for exhaust tubing |
Answer: | This is a metal cutting blade for tube steel, angle iron, flat bar, structural steel, unistrut, EMT, steel studs and other ferrous metals. |

Question: | Will this work on a 10 inch miter saw to cut 40 weight 2 3/8 galvanized pipe? Approximately 10 cuts total |
Answer: | Yes, I have cut 1" bars of Manganal steel (similar to AR500) and it works fine. Use an aggressive, even feed and make sure the work is well clamped. |
Question: | Does this fit on a mitre saw? Or chop saw |
Answer: | 1. We had tested 14x66T by cutting 2 inch ( diameter 50mm ) steel bar, test result is ok. So we think it's ok for cutting 2 7/8 tubing with 0.25 wall thickness and 1 inch sucker rod. 2. This blade is suitable for mild steel and iron, not for stainless steel and high strength quenching steel. 3. We are willing to share any feedback from your side. If testing result is not good enough, we will provide other items depending on your feedback. |

Answer: | I’m not sure. You should be able to use a tile cutting saw. I think ceramics need to have water running on your piece while you cut it. |
Question: | Can this blade cut 6" non-pressure pvc pipes |
Answer: | I do not know, if the label on the blade says it is good for that many rpm, then it will likely be fine, but if the label says something less this blade will or could blow apart sending shrapnel every where |

Answer: | No, esto no sería compatible. |
Question: | What is the maximum thickness of iron rod this will cut? i need to cut 1" square rod |
Answer: | It will cut 1 inch square solid Rod no problem. The secret to success with this blade is to feed it very very gently especially at the start of the cut. Then gentle pressure and it will cut the metal perfectly. |
Question: | Can i use this on a dewalt chop saw that comes with a fiber disk ???? size and rpms match |
Answer: | No, this would not be compatible; Use only TYPE 1 cutting wheels with Chop Saw: https://www.dewalt.com/products/accessories/abrasives/bonded-abrasives?Facet2=Diameter%253b%253b14-s-in%253b%253b14%7C&pageNum=1 |
Question: | This blade says to use it no faster than 1800 RPM, my Porter Cable saw is 3800 RPM. So does everybody ignore that detail |
Answer: | NO! Do not ignore that detail! If blade lifespan is important to you then use the 1300 RPM saw that it is designed for. They will last many months and I make thousands of cuts into multiple pieces at a time. If you use the ordinary chop saws intended for high RPM abrasive discs you can count the number of days it will last on your fingers...kind of a shame when they are $125 each and a disc is $10. |
