Freud 8" x 24T Super Dado Sets (SD508)
Chip Free Dadoes in Veneered Plywoods and Laminates The SD500 Series dadoes were the first dadoes to include a 3/32 inch thick chipper. This allows the cut width to be adjusted in 1/32-inch increments and doubles the number of slot widths available. Many plywoods are being manufactured 1/32-inch undersized from the nominal size and this allows you to cut dadoes that will fit these materials with less shimming. We have also included a shim set with the dado for fine adjustments. Freud's new Square Tooth(tm) design utilizes a shorter and thicker tooth which reduces drag in the cut and reduces the materials guiding effect. The Square Tooth(tm) design also increases the number of sharpenings you can obtain. The SD500's use an extra thick and stiff outside plate, eliminating the hub. The gullet design provides maximum chip ejection. Both of these features prevent chip buildup within the stack. Application: Use on all table saws, and radial arm saws for cutting slots, grooves, dadoes, and rabbets in softwood, or hardwood. Caution Carbide tips should never come into contact with each other. Always use both outside blades and never use chippers alone or with just one outside blade.
The SD500 Series of dado sets cuts everything from veneered plywoods and laminates to solid wood, chip and splinter-free with a super smooth, flat bottom. The SD500 Series dado sets were the first to include a 3/32" thick chipper and has the flexibility of an adjustable dado to handle today's undersized plywood. This allows the cut width to be adjusted in 1/32" increments and doubles the number of slot widths available. A shim set is also included with the dado set for fine adjustments. Use on all table saws, and radial arm saws for cutting slots, grooves, dadoes, and rabbets in softwood or hardwood.

User questions & answers
Question: | if blade won't fit on some saws due to short arbor when dado set at max and still allow nut to fasten, what arbor length is needed |
Answer: | Email me with the length of your Arbor and I will go to my shop and measure the Dado set. I have the grizzly 2 Hp hybrid saw and it is a bit quickly to get on, but one on it rocks. My email is [email protected] |
Question: | Has any owner of this dado set had the blades resharpened |
Answer: | The dado set can be sharpened. They need to be re-sharpened as a set. Visit www.freudtools.com and locate a sharpener near you. |
Question: | I notice most sets are around $100. Is this set worth the extra money compared to the other sets |
Answer: | If you only have one dado to make and the $100.00 set is the right size then buy that one. You can do this three more times and save money. If you have to make more than four dados you will save money with the Freud kit. |
Question: | I also have a Bosch 4100 10 inch work saw and can't determine if this dado will work on that saw. anyone |
Answer: | Ok there is some confusion here. The site above shows all the Freud blade sizes from the 10 inch with the 1 inch arbor hole to the six inch with a 5/8 arbor hole. The 10 inch is WAY too big for the Bosch 4100 or any portable saw. So is the 8 inch. I think these saws would struggle even with the six inch is pushing it. These saws just don't have the power and then there is a question of safety. Think about it, this is a lot of rapidly spinning metal. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the depth this blade will cut |
Answer: | I have to revise my answer. The blade will only raise to about an inch and a quarter (1-1/4 inch) above the table on my Powermatic 10-inch table saw, so max depth is about 1-1/4 inch, not 3-11/16. |
Question: | How many RPMs is this rated for |
Answer: | Per what it says on the blade - 11,000 RPM. |
Question: | How do you open the case to remove the dado set |
Answer: | Unscrew the black knobs in the center of the dado |
Question: | What is the criteria for deciding between a 6" and 8" blade on a 10" table saw |
Answer: | There are several factors. First is the power of your saw motor. For 1.5HP and less you should use a 6" dado blade. If you have more than 2HP go with the 8. Another factor is the depth you want to cut. If you are not going deeper than 1.25" you only need a 6". Third, most 6" simply weigh less an put less wear and tear on your motor. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Guys, makita 5806b circular saw has a bore (middle hole) of 20 mm, how can i male a freud diablo blade fit in it |
Answer: | The Diablo blade has an imperial measurement of 5/8" (0.625"), and your Makita circular saw is 20mm which in imperial measurement is 0.7874", it means your circular saw shaft is 0.1624" bigger than the hole in the saw blade. You will have to look up the internet to find a saw blade with a 20mm bore. The only other way is to drill out the mounting hole to 49/64" and use a 20mm Reamer. |
Question: | How will this blade do to cut sheet metal roofing |
Answer: | Not very well. It’s made for wood. You need a metal cutting blade for that |
Question: | The inner circle thing popped out, any idea how I can make it work in my saw still |
Answer: | I've never had one with an inner circle piece like the ones on grinder blades. If the diamond part came out its mainly only for worm drive saws if I remember correctly |
Question: | What is the kerf for this blade |
Answer: | Well, it's probably less than 1/4 in. But...........why does it matter? I bought this blade to take down 3 old sheds and it did a fantastic job! It cut thru nails and wires and tin etc............ It did the job perfectly. That is probably why they call it a DEMO blade! Demo=Demolition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is NOT a finesse cutting tool. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these really made in China |
Answer: | From what I have read, the Diablo series is made in Italy but who knows what really goes on these days? I am happy with the blade and at the price it is a good value. Could they have been made in Italy at one time and then sourced/made in another country later on? I can't say. |
Question: | Why are the vents just printed on |
Answer: | The vents are actually through-cut, then filled with a rubbery material. They really do work. These blades are far quieter than the stock blades that come on most saws. |
Question: | Would you recommend this blade for ripping finished hardwood? I am looking for a good blade for ripping cabinet fillers, etc |
Answer: | It depends on what the cabinets are made out of. If they're solid wood, yes absolutely this blade will do great, it leaves almost sanded smooth edges if your saw is setup right. If its plywood, or particle board, or mdf, I'd use a diablo blade meant for that kind of wood like the freud d1090x 90 tooth blade, that will leave sanded smooth edges on a plywood board, and wont tear up your veneer like the 50 tooth blade might. |
Question: | Would this blade cut a flat bottom dado |
Answer: | No - The better version, if you want to make smooth multiple passes for a dado is the more expensive, Freud LU84R011 which has a flat bottom edge on the first tooth after each gullet. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the required rotational speed for the 10" steel demon |
Answer: | I've cut 0.125" wall 1.5" steel tubing. Works pretty well but won't last for more than about 15 cuts in this rather strong steel. My band saw is better but I always keep one of these blades on hand for precision cuts. On thinner metal, like butter. |
Question: | So confusing max rpm is 5800 or 1800 ? why I saw it in my local homedepot it says 5800 rpm on its package |
Answer: | That is the limit of its abilities. The key is to set your saw depth deep, so each tooth is in contact with the steel very briefly. If you set the blade shallow, as if you were cutting 1/4" plywood, you will overheat the teeth and be lucky to cut 12" before the blade is destroyed. |
Question: | I want to ask if this blade will work with evolution mitre saw |
Answer: | Lol....I operate On or Off...I prefer the full ON position to get the job done and move on!! |
Question: | Was gonna try this on my hitachi compound miter saw. It is 5,000 rpm has anyone used this blade running at this rate |

Product description
This blade gives smooth, fast rips in hardwoods and softwoods. The combination of a rigid blade body and razor sharp flat top carbide teeth will provide a "glue line" precision cut. These blades are precision balanced and can be used in gang-rip operations. The ideal working range is from 3/4" to 2-3/4" thick. This blade also features laser cut anti-vibration slots, practically eliminating the vibration that resonates in standard blades. With this ultimate ripping blade, there is no need for stabilizers.
Designed for serious woodworkers, the 10-inch Freud LM72R010 Heavy-Duty Rip Saw Blade features an ultra-tough Perma-SHIELD coating that reduces heat and friction. It delivers smooth, fast cuts through hard- and softwood. Thanks to a rigid blade body and 24 oversized, flat-top teeth with TiCo high-density carbide tips, this is one dependable, long-lasting blade. Plus, its well-balanced, anti-vibration design means there's no need to use stabilizers with it.
Professional-Grade Design for Accurate Glue Line CutsOffering fast, "glue line" precision cuts and an anti-kickback design, this heavy-duty rip saw blade handles tough industrial ripping tasks without requiring you to add any stabilizers to your setup. It's ideal for working with hard- or softwoods that are 3/4 to 2-3/4 inches thick, and it can be used in gang-rip operations. This versatile blade handles crosscuts with chipboard, plywood, or laminate, and can tackle thinner or thicker materials. However, some loss of surface finish may occur when it is used outside its ideal range. It has a 5/8-inch arbor and produces a 0.126 kerf.
The extra-large, flat teeth featured on this blade leave a smooth, splinter-free finish that eliminates the need for sanding and jointing. This large-tooth design also allows the blade to be safely sharpened more times, prolonging the life of the blade and saving you money. And the large gullets between these teeth ensure easy chip removal.
Well-Balanced, Anti-Vibration Design
This Freud blade is precision balanced and pretensioned for truer cuts under heavy loads. It also features laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that reduce chatter for a cleaner finish, longer blade life, and reduced noise while you work. And because the entire blade is laser cut from high-strength steel, you can trust that it will stay stable, flat, and true, even after prolonged use.
High-Density Carbide for Maximum Cutting Performance
This heavy-duty rip saw blade's 24 teeth are finished with tips made from Freud's application-specific TiCo high-density carbide "ripping blend." This blend offers a mix of improved density, hardness, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and impact resistance that's ideally matched to the demands of ripping large quantities of thick, hard wood.
With teeth that start out sharper and deliver improved edge retention, the blade can go longer between sharpening, and will hold up longer--once again, saving you time and money.
Perma-SHIELD Coating Reduces Friction and Heat Buildup
Built to withstand tough use in less-than-ideal conditions, this blade is finished with Freud's red Perma-SHIELD--a non-stick coating that reduces friction and nearly eliminates the heat buildup that excess friction can cause. By providing complete thermal insulation, this coating protects your tools and your work surface. And it resists binding when the blade is used for large-volume cutting applications, which reduces blade warp.
As a lubricating feature, Perma-SHIELD allows the blade to spin freely while reducing stress on the motor and carriage of your saw. In addition, this coating helps prevent debris collection and resin or "pitch" buildup. Since gummy pitch buildup causes extra drag on the motor of your saw, less buildup is another little convenience that translates into longer tool life and longer blade life. It also means less downtime for blade cleaning, so you get jobs done faster.
This industrial saw blade is backed by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this blade work in my g0524 straight line ripnsaw at 4500 rpm |
Answer: | I thought it was self-subricated |
Question: | What is the proper blade height for ripping |
Answer: | Yes friend. Our 3018 Pro engraving machinebe can engraved plastic, wood, acrylic, pvc, pcb, wood or the like material. |
Question: | Is it a flat top blade |
Answer: | yes |
Question: | Is this full kerf blade ok for using in a DeWalt contractor saw, or should I use a thin kerf |
Answer: | There is more to this answer. I have the unit that will move the router in and out. The accuracy can degrade toward the edges. So a better questions is, "What is the maximum area this will engrave accurately?". The answer to that is. It depends. The magic is in the software control. You run a test pattern, and make measurements, that tell the program how to change everything, to maintain accuracy, even at the ends. You will want to calibrate this for parts that are going to cover the board. My frame is also setup for a full 4x8foot sheet. So, short answer is 4' x 8'. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use the 6" or 8" set on my Kobalt 10" table saw (model kt |
Answer: | If it is designed to use dado blades it should work. You may need a wider insert around the blade due to the extra width of the blades. Your saw manufacturer should have these if the saw is in fact made for dado blades. |
Question: | Can i use to portable dewalt table saw |
Answer: | Not if your saw is a DWE7480 or the DW745. The arbor is too short to hold a dado stack. |
Question: | I have a ‘Dewalt table saw for jobsite, compact, 8-1/4-inch (dwe7485). Has anyone used this dado set in this model |
Answer: | I don’t know the answer to your specific question, but it is generally recommended to use a 6” dado stack with portable saws. The good thing is that 6” stacks are generally cheaper than their equivalent 8” stack. |
Question: | In the tech. details it states, "measurement system, metric",but in the description it states "makes flat bottom grooves from 1/4" to 13/16" in |
Answer: | I have been using the Freud 8" SD2085 for 6 months on several projects using my DeWalt DWE7491 Table Saw. The projects have ranged from Pine to Teak and Ipe. When stacked in-accordance-with the supplied chart, you can cut any Dado from 1/4" to 13/16" in 1/32" steps, 19 settings. These dados are spot-on in inches. I highly recommend this Dado set.! |
