14 best blade for table saws
Blades for table saws, also known as table saw blades, are specialized cutting tools designed for use with table saws. These blades are essential components of table saws and play a crucial role in determining the quality and precision of cuts made on various materials, primarily wood. Here's what you need to know about blades for table saws:
Types of Table Saw Blades:
- Rip Blades: Designed for making long, parallel cuts along the grain of wood. They have fewer teeth and larger gullets for efficient material removal.
- Crosscut Blades: Used for making cuts across the grain of wood. They have more teeth and produce smoother, splinter-free cuts.
- Combination Blades: Designed to perform both ripping and crosscutting tasks, offering versatility for different woodworking projects.
- Dado Blades: These are specialized blades used for making grooves, dadoes, or rabbets in wood by stacking multiple blades together.
Blade Size: Table saw blades come in various sizes, typically specified by their diameter in inches. Common sizes include 8 inches, 10 inches, and 12 inches, with 10-inch blades being the most popular for general-purpose use.
Tooth Configuration:
- Teeth per Inch (TPI): The TPI of a table saw blade determines the quality of the cut. Blades with higher TPI provide smoother finishes on wood, while lower TPI blades are better for fast, rough cuts.
- Tooth Grind: Blades can have different tooth grinds, such as flat-top grind, alternate top bevel (ATB), or combination grinds, which are suitable for specific cutting tasks.
Material Compatibility: Table saw blades are designed for cutting various materials, including wood, plywood, MDF (medium-density fiberboard), and even non-ferrous metals like aluminum. Choose a blade that matches the material you intend to cut.
Blade Quality: High-quality table saw blades are made from durable materials, such as carbide-tipped teeth, which stay sharp longer and require less frequent sharpening or replacement.
Blade Features:
- Anti-kickback Design: Some blades have features to prevent kickback, enhancing safety during operation.
- Expansion Slots: Expansion slots or laser-cut vents help dissipate heat and reduce vibration for smoother cuts.
- Noise Reduction: Special coatings or dampening features can reduce noise during cutting.
Maintenance: Regular cleaning and maintenance of table saw blades are essential to keep them sharp and prolong their lifespan. Dull blades can lead to poor cuts and increase the risk of accidents.
Choosing the right table saw blade for your specific project is crucial for achieving precise and clean cuts. It's essential to consider the type of cuts you need to make, the material you're working with, and the quality of finish you desire when selecting a table saw blade. Always follow safety guidelines when using table saws and their blades to ensure safe and accurate cutting operations.

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these really made in China |
Answer: | From what I have read, the Diablo series is made in Italy but who knows what really goes on these days? I am happy with the blade and at the price it is a good value. Could they have been made in Italy at one time and then sourced/made in another country later on? I can't say. |
Question: | Why are the vents just printed on |
Answer: | The vents are actually through-cut, then filled with a rubbery material. They really do work. These blades are far quieter than the stock blades that come on most saws. |
Question: | Would you recommend this blade for ripping finished hardwood? I am looking for a good blade for ripping cabinet fillers, etc |
Answer: | It depends on what the cabinets are made out of. If they're solid wood, yes absolutely this blade will do great, it leaves almost sanded smooth edges if your saw is setup right. If its plywood, or particle board, or mdf, I'd use a diablo blade meant for that kind of wood like the freud d1090x 90 tooth blade, that will leave sanded smooth edges on a plywood board, and wont tear up your veneer like the 50 tooth blade might. |
Question: | Would this blade cut a flat bottom dado |
Answer: | No - The better version, if you want to make smooth multiple passes for a dado is the more expensive, Freud LU84R011 which has a flat bottom edge on the first tooth after each gullet. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I just want to one blade for my compound bevel miter saw would you recommend this? Thanks |
Answer: | I have no complaints with the D12100x. I’m a trim carpenter and impressed with the blade. I’ve always had either 60 or 80 tooth blades and as long as they were sharp, I really couldn’t tell the difference in cuts. |
Question: | Will this cut exotic wood tha tis 4" that is at the top of the Janka scale? Or would it be better to buy a higher tooth count? Thanks |
Answer: | I can’t answer about this specific blade, but I have a Forrest table saw blade and it’s really worth the extra money. I use the Freud on my chop saw and am very happy with the performance. I probably wouldn’t go with Forrest for my chop saw unless the price was very close. |
Question: | Is this American made |
Answer: | The hook angle is 7 degrees. I wanted to know the correct answer and found it from manufacturer's product page: http://www.diablotools.com/products/product/D12100X |
Question: | how thin is the actual cut kerf |
Answer: | It is the standard 1/8" thickness. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I´m from Uruguay, sorry for my english!, what can i do if my center is not 5/8?, my machine´s center ir 20mm |
Answer: | I am not sure what 20MM is- but on most saws if your arbor is not 5/8" the diamond shaped " knock out" around the the 5/8 hole will come out and fit a matching diamond shape raised portion on your saw to lock in the blade. Not sure if that makes sense- if you had a picture of your saw, it could help. |
Question: | Is this a flat tooth blade |
Answer: | No, it is not a flat tooth blade. |
Question: | Is this compatible with the riving knife included with the DWE |
Answer: | probably. the riving knife should be the same. they are set up for the saw kerf. your manual should tell you what blades to use |
Question: | Does dewalt sell an 8 - 1/4 "fine finishing" blade for the flexvolt 60 volt table saw |
Answer: | Sorry I can not help I bought this for a circular saw not a table saw |
Product description
This blade gives smooth, fast rips in hardwoods and softwoods. The combination of a rigid blade body and razor sharp flat top carbide teeth will provide a "glue line" precision cut. These blades are precision balanced and can be used in gang-rip operations. The ideal working range is from 3/4" to 2-3/4" thick. This blade also features laser cut anti-vibration slots, practically eliminating the vibration that resonates in standard blades. With this ultimate ripping blade, there is no need for stabilizers.
Designed for serious woodworkers, the 10-inch Freud LM72R010 Heavy-Duty Rip Saw Blade features an ultra-tough Perma-SHIELD coating that reduces heat and friction. It delivers smooth, fast cuts through hard- and softwood. Thanks to a rigid blade body and 24 oversized, flat-top teeth with TiCo high-density carbide tips, this is one dependable, long-lasting blade. Plus, its well-balanced, anti-vibration design means there's no need to use stabilizers with it.
Professional-Grade Design for Accurate Glue Line CutsOffering fast, "glue line" precision cuts and an anti-kickback design, this heavy-duty rip saw blade handles tough industrial ripping tasks without requiring you to add any stabilizers to your setup. It's ideal for working with hard- or softwoods that are 3/4 to 2-3/4 inches thick, and it can be used in gang-rip operations. This versatile blade handles crosscuts with chipboard, plywood, or laminate, and can tackle thinner or thicker materials. However, some loss of surface finish may occur when it is used outside its ideal range. It has a 5/8-inch arbor and produces a 0.126 kerf.
The extra-large, flat teeth featured on this blade leave a smooth, splinter-free finish that eliminates the need for sanding and jointing. This large-tooth design also allows the blade to be safely sharpened more times, prolonging the life of the blade and saving you money. And the large gullets between these teeth ensure easy chip removal.
Well-Balanced, Anti-Vibration Design
This Freud blade is precision balanced and pretensioned for truer cuts under heavy loads. It also features laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that reduce chatter for a cleaner finish, longer blade life, and reduced noise while you work. And because the entire blade is laser cut from high-strength steel, you can trust that it will stay stable, flat, and true, even after prolonged use.
High-Density Carbide for Maximum Cutting Performance
This heavy-duty rip saw blade's 24 teeth are finished with tips made from Freud's application-specific TiCo high-density carbide "ripping blend." This blend offers a mix of improved density, hardness, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and impact resistance that's ideally matched to the demands of ripping large quantities of thick, hard wood.
With teeth that start out sharper and deliver improved edge retention, the blade can go longer between sharpening, and will hold up longer--once again, saving you time and money.
Perma-SHIELD Coating Reduces Friction and Heat Buildup
Built to withstand tough use in less-than-ideal conditions, this blade is finished with Freud's red Perma-SHIELD--a non-stick coating that reduces friction and nearly eliminates the heat buildup that excess friction can cause. By providing complete thermal insulation, this coating protects your tools and your work surface. And it resists binding when the blade is used for large-volume cutting applications, which reduces blade warp.
As a lubricating feature, Perma-SHIELD allows the blade to spin freely while reducing stress on the motor and carriage of your saw. In addition, this coating helps prevent debris collection and resin or "pitch" buildup. Since gummy pitch buildup causes extra drag on the motor of your saw, less buildup is another little convenience that translates into longer tool life and longer blade life. It also means less downtime for blade cleaning, so you get jobs done faster.
This industrial saw blade is backed by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this blade work in my g0524 straight line ripnsaw at 4500 rpm |
Answer: | I thought it was self-subricated |
Question: | What is the proper blade height for ripping |
Answer: | Yes friend. Our 3018 Pro engraving machinebe can engraved plastic, wood, acrylic, pvc, pcb, wood or the like material. |
Question: | Is it a flat top blade |
Answer: | yes |
Question: | Is this full kerf blade ok for using in a DeWalt contractor saw, or should I use a thin kerf |
Answer: | There is more to this answer. I have the unit that will move the router in and out. The accuracy can degrade toward the edges. So a better questions is, "What is the maximum area this will engrave accurately?". The answer to that is. It depends. The magic is in the software control. You run a test pattern, and make measurements, that tell the program how to change everything, to maintain accuracy, even at the ends. You will want to calibrate this for parts that are going to cover the board. My frame is also setup for a full 4x8foot sheet. So, short answer is 4' x 8'. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this blade fit a Craftsman 8" miter saw |
Answer: | Yes it can be used, but it will depend on what you will be using it for as to how well it will work for you. I use mine for cutting small box joints because it has flat and square 1/8" teeth. I also use it for ripping solid hardwoods, but I use it on a 3 hp table saw. A DeWalt saw has about 1/2 as much power, so using a thin kerf blade will remove less wood and require less power for the cut. For general cutting use, I think you will be better off using a good thin kerf combination blade. If trying to cut small box joints like I am, this blade will do a fine job on your saw. Again, you can use it, but it may not be your best choice. It will depend on what you will be cutting. |
Question: | What is the kerf |
Answer: | You would need to email the manufacture for that information. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this blade cleanly cut plastic |
Answer: | I’d definitely use it if I needed to. I’ve cut it with a skill saw and worked great so don’t know why not. |
Question: | Will this blade fot a model 5400 skilsaw |
Answer: | If your saw accepts a 12" blade with a 1" arbor hole, it should fit. It is printed on the blade that there is a maximum RPM of 8000 RPM's. So you should be good to go at 4500 RPM's |
Question: | what is the kerf |
Answer: | On my Delta Unisaw, I typically set my blade so that the gullet's clear the top of the wood. It has worked well for me over the years. This allows the blade to get rid of some of the cut material so that it does not cause as much friction and heat the blade up dragging the wood chips/strands through the wood on the way back down. I find it leaves fewer burn marks on the wood if I need to slow down the feed when I reposition my hands on longer pieces of wood. Some people like to keep the blade lower as a safety precaution in case their hand wanders over it. |
Question: | Is this a flat tooth blade |
Answer: | Flat on top and sides also. Really cheap to have resharpened! |
