9 best router lifts
A router lift is a device used in woodworking that allows for easy and precise adjustments of a router's cutting depth while it's mounted in a router table. It is an essential accessory for woodworkers who frequently use a router table because it simplifies the process of making accurate adjustments to the router's bit height, making it safer and more convenient to use.
Key features and functions of router lifts include:
Precision Height Adjustment: Router lifts typically have a crank or a mechanism that allows you to raise or lower the router bit with high precision. This is crucial for achieving accurate cuts and ensuring the router bit is at the desired depth.
Locking Mechanism: Most router lifts have a locking mechanism to secure the router at a specific height, preventing unintentional changes during operation.
Quick and Easy Bit Changes: Router lifts often include a quick-release mechanism that simplifies the process of changing router bits. This can save time and effort when switching between different profiles or tasks.
Compatibility: Router lifts are designed to be compatible with a wide range of routers, ensuring that they can be used with various models and brands.
Dust Collection: Some router lifts come with built-in dust collection ports to help keep the work area clean by capturing dust and debris generated during routing.
Stability and Durability: High-quality router lifts are made from sturdy materials and designed to provide stability during operation. They are built to withstand the rigors of woodworking.
Micro-Adjustment: Some router lifts offer micro-adjustment features, allowing for even finer adjustments to the router bit's height, which can be especially useful for intricate woodworking projects.
Router lifts are often considered a valuable addition to a woodworking workshop, as they enhance the precision and ease of using a router table. They are commonly used for tasks such as edge profiling, dado cutting, and creating joinery. Additionally, router lifts can contribute to improved safety by minimizing the need to reach under the table to adjust the router manually.
When selecting a router lift, it's important to ensure compatibility with your specific router model and to choose one that meets your precision and convenience requirements. Investing in a high-quality router lift can greatly enhance the capabilities of your router table and improve the quality of your woodworking projects.

User questions & answers
Question: | Fit craftsman 27683? I put wrong model number in before |
Answer: | I wish I could answer that but not to leave you high and dry. Here is Jessems customer service number that I have used in the past. I hope this helps. 1-800-436-6799. |
Question: | Will the rout-r-lift (jessem #02310) for 3 1/2 dia. motors take a 31/2" motor of a ryobi re1802m |
Answer: | as far as i know you can put any 3 1/2 inch router in it. i have a porter cable 892 in mine |
Question: | Anyone know if kreg plate inserts will fit this jessem plate? they're less than half the price of jessem's |
Answer: | If you are asking about the Corner Leveling Plates (one for each corner) which is how the plate is secured to the Kreg Router Table (mounted under the table), NO. The four bolt holes on the JessEm plate do not align with the mounting holes of Kreg's leveling pads so you will have to order (directly through JessEm by phone) the pads that will work: "JessEm Corner Leveling Pads for home made and Kreg Tables Model #02027". Price is $21.99 + Shipping & Handling. I hope that helps. |
Question: | Anyone mounted a jessem router table to a bosch ra-1181 stand |
Answer: | That other answer makes no sense. This is a plate, very similar to the one in the Bosch table. I don't know why this product listing doesn't include a list of router tables it'll fit. The Bosch plate appears to be 11.5" x 9". Thus this one appears to be 1/4" too large in each direction... which is too bad, but not a deal-breaker if you're willing to cut it. I found the following comment in a forum, which supports my finding that the plate is slightly too large: "Had to trim 1/16"off each side of the Jessem's phenolic base to fit the Bosch table - and used the Bosch leveling hardware, drilled new corner locations for the Jessem holes to snug it down." |
Product description
Take control of your table-mounted router for quick, accurate, reliable, and repeatable setups
The Precision Router Lift helps you elevate your routing capabilities by providing precise control when making router setup changes or changing bits. The lift replaces the standard insert plate in a router table (the 3⁄8" x 91⁄4" x 113⁄4" plate fits all Kreg router tables plus many popular brands) and accepts any of 20+ popular router models—without the need adapters or modifications—in a high-performance carriage that you raise and lower from above the table.
With the Precision Router Lift, there’s no more reaching under the table to make adjustments or change bits, plus vastly improved control over all adjustments, large or small. Instead, simply use the lift’s included crank to adjust the height of your router bit easily and precisely from above the table. This makes adjustment fast, simple, and accurate so you can set up your router faster, and then dial in the exact bit height you require using the Precision Router Lift’s built-in micro-adjustment scale. The lift also simplifies changing bits by allowing you to do that from above the table, as well.
Precision is more than part of the name with this lift, too. The Precision Router Lift is designed so that every full revolution of the adjusting crank moves the carriage—and your bit—exactly 1⁄16", though adjustments down to thousandths of an inch are possible. A built-in micro-adjust scale can be zeroed out at any point to establish your baseline bit setup, so you can make exact bit height changes, and readjust to the exact same setting confidently every time for repeat cuts.
Whether you’re upgrading an existing router table, setting up a new one, or even building your own custom table, the Precision Router Lift is the perfect routing accessory. It offers the precision you demand to achieve exacting routing standards, along with the fast, easy performance you want in order to spend less time setting up and more time routing.
- Allows precise above-the-table setup changes for table-mounted routers
- Above-table collet access allows fast, easy, above-table bit changes
- 3⁄8" x 9 1⁄4" x 11 3⁄4" (9.5 mm x 235mm x 298mm) Hard-anodized aluminum plate won’t Sag, resists scratches
- Fits all Kreg Router tables and many competitive brands
- Bearing-guided carriage provides smooth operation

Question: | Does this work with this router http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/b0006a0de2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=utf8&psc=1&smid=atvpdkikx0der |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. Yes, the 16176 router motor will work with the RA1165 router base. If you have further questions please feel free to contact our Bosch Customer Service Representatives at 1-877-BOSCH-99 (1-877-267-2499). |
Question: | Can I use it with the Kreg PRS 1040 router table and my Bosch 1617 router |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer of the router table to verify if it is compatible with the Bosch 1617 series routers. If they are the same, yes the RA1165 will work with your table as it has the same hole pattern as the 1617EVS router. If you have further questions please feel free to contact our Bosch Customer Service Representatives at 1-877-BOSCH-99 (1-877-267-2499). |
Question: | I would like a suggestion for a plate to mount this to please? I intend to make my own router table top and would like to attach this to a plate |
Answer: | Mine is mounted to a custom 3/8 plexiglass plate With the handles removed, I was able to give my baseplate a small footprint (7x7). Plexiglass made it easy to see where I needed to drill for the hex lift opening.Someone suggested 1/4 plexiglass, which I think *might* flex slightly under the weight of this router. Several years ago I used 1/4 plexiglass on another router and got that result -- HOWEVER, it may be worth a shot. With the smaller 7x7 footprint, there may be no flex. |
Question: | CanI use this RA 1165 Base with my Porter |
Answer: | Nope. The mounting pattern is the same. The 10-24 screws are the same. The motor diameter is the same. However, there are three issues. 1) there is a pin in the base for which there is no slot in Porter Cable motor the motor won't slide past. 2) there are pins on the Porter Cable motor that do not slide past the 'bottom' opening of the base (they do slide in the 'top', so apparently the bottom is tapered and, even if you file pins or whatever... 3) the height adjustment mechanism on the base goes into one of 3 notches in the Bosch router motor. The Porter Cable motor does not have those notches and so the height adjustment purpose is lost |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the bits be changed from above |
Answer: | Yes. Simply crank the router to its highest point. |
Question: | Does it fit Bosch 1617 Router |
Answer: | Yes. The manual that comes with it has decent instructions for setting up for various routers. |
Question: | What is the snugger bar that is required to be removed for the benchdog protop contractor portable router table? seems ominous |
Answer: | The snugger bar should not have to be removed when using a table with a standard opening. When the lift is lowered into the table there is a ledge that the plate sits on that has the adjustment screws installed in. I see know reason that if the ledge Is to wide to allow room for the snugger bar that could trimmed a little. Also the snugger bar has some adjustment. My master lift is installed into a full size Bench Dog cast iron table great combo. also I have developed a dust collection box with a very unique way to control dust and air flow thru the router motor. |
Question: | Will this fit Bosch 1619 evs |
Answer: | Yes, instructions do a good job of explaining router clamping block set up. Had mine for about 8 years with several different router motors and I'm still loving the the lift. Don't think you can go wrong with this lift. Just keep it blown out and lubed. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will the triton tra001 fit in this box |
Answer: | I use a Triton TRA001 router in my Sommerfeld router table. I had to modify the SawStop dust collection box so the TRA001 would fit into it. I added about 2 1\2" to the back of the box to allow enough space for the router. It works fine but if you can find a bigger box that didn't need to be modified I'd go that way. |
Question: | Where is this manufactured |
Answer: | Ask Rockler for more certainty. In my experience If it was made in America then that would be a huge marketing slogan, that isn’t the case with this product so my guess is China or Taiwan like everything else |
Question: | This lift have its own levelers or do you have to purchase them |
Answer: | It comes with the leveling screws. |
Question: | Will this fit a 3 in router body |
Answer: | Not as is. You need to buy a reducer collar from Rockler. I know they make reducer collars for 3.5” and 3.25” routers, not sure about 3.00” |
Question: | Is this lift primarily all metal |
Answer: | Yes |
