Answer: | **YES** Definitely for the DWE402 Type 2 model. How do I know? I have one in my grubby paws, even as fingers are put to keyboard. Type 2 is the variant w/ the black paddle switch in the approx. bottom middle of the tool housing. The paddle itself does not lock, having a rotating lock-out device to prevent accidental "ON" operation. To lock tool in the *ON* position, start the tool, depressing the paddle switch. Once up to speed, a small, black "lock" button positioned near the motor vents (can't recall whether right or left side of housing) can be depressed, locking the paddle switch in a position to maintain just slightly less than full 11K rpm motor speed. A Type 1 variant, w/ slide switch, has a similar "lock" feature. Reference to Type 1 and Type 2 is NOT to guard types, rather to the tool itself, designating variants in the DWE402 model. As to guards, looking high and low for a Type 1 guard. The tool came w/ Type 27 guard. Type 1 guard is *required* when using a cutting disc, rather than grinding disc. Part number for the needed guard is #N311419, either out-of-stock or back-ordered in DeWalt Service/Parts stores. Any one know where to lay grubby paws on this guard? |

Answer: | It's made in China and distributed by a company in the US - CH Hanson - who have been around for a while. I bought two of these on Amazon through the seller Tuff Tools. One one the water troughs was a bad casting. I got no satisfaction from Tuff Tools so I called Hanson. They took care of a free replacement for that part. The prices for these vary and seem to change so shop around. I paid 136.46 in July of 2018. After all is said and done, I feel they're a good value for that price. Sturdy and stable. Hope all that helps. |

Answer: | The top and bottom plate look heavy enough for heavy use, the pipe could use more wall thickness but I think it will work fine, too. I've got a 6" Palmgren vise on mine, and I did a lot of modification: only 2 of the long slotted fixture holes lined-up with the foot of the vise, I had to take a square file and open one of the other holes to a "slot" so as to use a carriage bolt (easy job); a 4th bolt was not possible as drilling for it would have broken the stiffening rib cast in the underside of the mount plate. The collars of the top plate and bottom foot I modified a lot, the as-designed two lock bolts while fine for the intended purpose are IMO not enough to hold up against beating on a vise, so I drilled and tapped all the way through them so the bolts completely thread entirely through the cast iron and inner pipe wall together, and used Grade-8 hardware and retaining nuts inside of the pipe, too. The supplied hardware and threads are metric btw. Last step for me will be installing CONFAST 5/8" Double Expansion Anchors and it should be ready for war. |

They really last. The $20 diamond blade wore out in no time. It is unbelievable, I spent a lot of money on expensive name brand disc until I found these. I initially bought 50 because I was eating other brand disc like crazy. Got my project done and probably used less than 15 out of fifty. I still bought another 50 because they are so cheap and superior to any other that I have used. This should be a lifetime supply for me. |

Although the Aluminum Oxide material composition of the Makita 4 1/2" cutting wheel may help, it would not hold up very long and would lead to premature wear. In summary, these Makita 4 1/2" cutting wheels are not designed to cut hardened high speed steel, but if you absolutely need to make small cuts, they should be able to get you out of a bind. |

Answer: | Excellent Question. 5/8" is the actual diameter size of the spindle found on the angle grinder. Almost every 4 1/2" angle grinders in the US have a 5/8" spindle diameter size. However, on 4 1/2" abrasive discs, the actual diameter of the arbor hole is 7/8". The 2/8" size difference is because of the locking and securing mechanism of both the "Inner Flange" and the "Lock Nut" of the 4 1/2" angle grinder. The Inner Flange and the Lock Nut maintain the stability and safety of the abrasive disc during operation. In other words, your Makita 4 1/2" X 3/64" X 7/8" abrasive disc will properly fit and work on your 4 1/2" X 5/8"-11 angle grinder. Lastly, as a side note, the "-11" refers only to the "Thread Count". "-11" is 11 threads per inch and is standard in the US. |

Checking the Crain website, the 835 takes a 6-1/2" blade and is intended to cut through wood jambs. I doubt that these blades would work but you could contact Crain for their guidance. |

Answer: | Couldn't say. As for the polisher, no idea. I use a DeWalt 5" personally. I cut up a Kohler cast iron tub, and still had half the blade left, more or less. Good luck! |

Answer: | I've tried to use these on everything from 22 gauge and 18gauge sheet metal to up to .120" wall mild steel tubing, and in no circumstance was I impressed in the least. In fact, one could say I was severely disappointed. Not sure about the thickness of sheet metal siding or roofing. I had purchased for 4 1/2" and 4" disks for both of my grinders, and I ended up throwing both of those disks in the scrap metal barrel as they were worth more to me at the recycler. |
