| Answer: | I ordered the thermal carafe for associates in another area of our office building. They use a commercial type Bunn coffee maker to brew their coffee directly into the thermal carafe. This coffee maker does not have a burner to keep the coffee warm; however, the thermal carafe keeps the coffee warm for at least three hours. Once coffee has finished brewing, there is a top that goes over the carafe to keep the coffee hot. I'm not familiar with the melita coffee maker, but it needs to line up with the opening in the top of the thermal carafe so that the coffee drips into the carafe. Hope this help. |

| Answer: | 1095 is a great American knife steel....it's easy to sharpen and keeps an edge, but it will rust.Now D2 is a tool steel, with a large chromium content. I think it's the best American stainless all-around steel out there....it is extremely hard, and as a result, extremely hard to sharpen. I'm pretty good with a stone, but on the D2 blade it took a couple of days with a diamond stone to get it cartoon sharp (a term I use for extremely sharp blades). It also really holds an edge, and I would suggest a 25° angle on the blade....also, it is not likely to rust, because of the chromium content....finally, my take on these two knives is that the D2 blade is better than the 1095 carbon steel blade. I have both and prefer the D2 over the 1095 hands down. |

I used the 1-3/8" to drill two holes through 1/2" thick (double 1/4" plates) cold rolled steel (1010 or 1020) and was able to do it with my 1/2" variable speed handheld drill but had to take my time. So the bit wouldn't grab. I was in a tight area where there wasn't enough room to use a mag mount drill press and I was really surprised how well this cutter maintained its sharpness. If the lid is in the normal brew-through position, there's a path between the pot and the spout. |
