3 best pocket drilling jig
A pocket drilling jig, also known as a pocket hole jig, is a tool used in woodworking and carpentry for creating pocket holes, which are angled holes drilled at the perfect angle to join pieces of wood together. Here's what you need to know about pocket drilling jigs:
Purpose: The primary purpose of a pocket drilling jig is to create strong and hidden joints between pieces of wood. These joints are commonly used in furniture construction, cabinet making, and other woodworking projects.
Pocket Holes: A pocket hole is a hole drilled at an angle, usually around 15 degrees, into one piece of wood. This hole allows screws to be driven into another piece of wood, creating a strong and secure connection. The angled hole hides the screw head, providing a clean and professional look.
Components: A typical pocket drilling jig consists of a drilling guide with holes set at the desired angle and a clamp to secure the jig to the workpiece. Some jigs may also include additional features like dust collection ports.
Ease of Use: Pocket drilling jigs are designed to be user-friendly, making it easy for both beginners and experienced woodworkers to create accurate pocket holes. The jig ensures that the holes are consistently drilled at the correct angle and depth.
Versatility: Pocket drilling jigs can be used with various types of wood, including hardwoods, softwoods, and plywood. They are also compatible with different screw sizes, allowing for flexibility in the types of joints that can be created.
Applications: Common applications for pocket drilling jigs include assembling cabinets, building furniture, constructing frames, and joining wood pieces where traditional joinery methods may be challenging or impractical.
Pocket Hole Screws: To complete the joint, special pocket hole screws are used. These screws are designed with a self-tapping tip and a flat, oversized head that sits flush with the surface of the wood.
Benefits: Pocket hole joinery is known for its speed and efficiency. It eliminates the need for complex joinery techniques like mortise and tenon or dovetail joints. It's also a reliable method for creating strong connections.
Brand Variations: Various companies produce pocket drilling jigs and accessories. Popular brands include Kreg, Milescraft, and Rockler, among others. The specific features and capabilities of the jigs may vary between brands and models.
In summary, a pocket drilling jig is a valuable tool for woodworkers and carpenters, enabling them to create strong and discreet joints in their woodworking projects, making it a popular choice in the realm of woodworking tools and accessories.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can someone compare and contrast this with the similar Kreg jig? Has anyone ever seen both and able to compare |
Answer: | this is a real imperial dowel jig ,the hole is 1/4",not 6mm,don't worry ,please use your 1/4 drill bit! |
Question: | Where is this made |
Answer: | There is a small set screw on the collar. When you position the collar on the bit, make sure the set screw is positioned so that when you tighten it, it presses against the wide part of the spiral. You may need to rotate the collar around the bit to position it, then tighten the set screw until the collar is firmly held in place. If the collar that fits the bit you need doesn't have a set screw, remove one from one of the other collars and use it. (My set only had 2 set screws) The set screws are the same size. |
Question: | does it include the clamp? If not how much extra is it |
Answer: | This hose kit is a direct fit for the 2007-2011 model year Mini Cooper S, as noted in the Amazon description and the product page on Mishimoto.com. This hose kit should not require any additional modification for installation and normal functionality. If you have any other questions, please send an email to [email protected] and we would be happy to assist further. Thanks, Mishimoto |
Question: | Have the thickness measures 1-1/4 and the drill bit set to length vs the markings and it dont even drill through? Something is off not sure what |
Answer: | I installed the mishimoto hose kit on my 2010 mini cooper s, around 9 months ago. Since the install i have put about 10000 miles on the car. There has been no weep or leaking from any of the hoses, they are thick hoses aswell. You will have to trim the hoses to fit. When fitting the hoses make sure you have clearance for your transmission cables. If not then the cable might wear a hole in the hoses that run over the transmission. |

User questions & answers
Question: | hello . can i use this jig with metric (mm) wood ιn thikness? usually i work with 18mm and 25mm |
Answer: | The Kreg Deck Screws are designed to only screw into wood and not into metal. |
Question: | What is the difference between the 320 and the R |
Answer: | It is their own bit. If you get the 525 count the bit comes with it |
Question: | What size (diameter) is the drill bit |
Answer: | I'm sorry to say we don't have stainless versions of the longer deck screws, only the standard-length 2" stainless deck screws for 1-1/4" material. |
Question: | Do the screws to use to make pocket holes need to be a certain type? (I'm new but want to try). Does a jig use only a certain type of screw |
Answer: | In My research prior to purchase, I recall reading that the coated screws work with all composite, hardwood and soft woods. The only thing different per material choice is the thickness of the decking determining the length of screw. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I am needing a jig for 4(in.)x4(in.)x10(ft.) wood post. i realize this wouldn't work, but can anyone recommend one that can? thanks in advance |
Answer: | As it states in the description, deflects chips and connect 2 grippers for better control of large pieces. Check the video: https://d1y6jrbzotnyjg.cloudfront.net/V3MSA/cfd7863774ee4067ae4a3c816a4fd10e/V1/ad7607ded66c4f77898c5981786beb86/ShortForm-Generic-480p-16-9-1409173089793-rpcbe5.mp4?Expires=1552759553&Signature=TXTx0fF1p4Uzt68tNOVHzaO1K4UUbz1qJoX9WVsDe~ReJnbou3MLRqyMf2qM06MydXQMud4lf2zChbFp-YQbr7t731MJ2pn~tgK64bjXMcE1ko8UnnYlzgaBtLVGA4l4YXyBvhEk9ZREzLwvu0hXURT9-OHG-TkCcq1XN-stsmg_&Key-Pair-Id=APKAJ62XWKZ35EOVO4XA |
Question: | Is it possible to use this kit with material thicker than 1-1/2 inches? I ask because the site offers spacer blocks for user with "thicker" material. It would be nice to use the kit on 2x4s for example |
Answer: | The "deflector plate" is actually a gravity operated "heel" that simply drops down and hooks on the material you are pushing. There's considerable grip in the rubber pad portion of the push block, but when you reach the end of a board or similar, the heel drops down and catches on the edge of wood, permitting easy/secure push through of the wood. |
Question: | how would i get a long piece of wood to position in the clamp, like an 8ft 2x4? I see short pieces stand up in the jig, would a long board be flimsy |
Answer: | We have a video showing how to build a GRR-RIP BLOCK Stand that magnetically mounts to your jointer! Watch it on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/3qUBe90H-Q8 |
Question: | What country is this made in |
Answer: | I don't have the Bench Dogs push pad but I do own 2 of these Gripper pads as well as several "plain" push pads. In my experience, the GRR-Rip Block is different in 2 ways. The Gripper has 4 "heel hooks" that hang over the edge of your work piece to get a better push on the end stock. And it can also be used on its edge (it have been formed with a 90 degree angle) so you can push stock on a router table or to stabilize wood while re-sawing on a band saw (and this is where those hooks really help). But the price of the Gripper is 2-1/2 times the Bench Dog, so the question would be: is the GRR-Rip Blockr twice as good as the Bench Dog. And I would probably say no to that. But the ultimate decision is of course yours. Hope this helped. |
