User questions & answers

Question: Does it do inch pounds also
Answer: You can test it against the old bar beam style type torque wrench (as other reply said above) they are not that expensive and good to have around although they are hard to read in some real life torque positions. OR if you have a weight of known valve (weighed on accurate scales) you can hang the weight on the handle of torque wrench (or any wrench that fits into this Torgue adapter) and compare readings. BUT you must hang the weight at 12" from rachet point to hang point or do a torque length calc conversion (find that easy on google search). It a torque wrench is used then it is not advised by most mfg's to hang the weigh anywhere but on the handle. Some cheaper ($14) luggage weight hanging scales are pretty acurate for testing also. The more items you test it against the more sure you are.
Question: Does this torque wrench measure inch pounds and foot pounds
Answer: Comes with a "Certificate of Inspection", with three settings standards and readings, standards are 29.5, 88.5, 147.6 lb-ft, % error -0.34%, +0.23%, +0.14% respectively.
Question: Does this torq wrench do degrees as well
Answer: Mine does not say made in China. If it did I would not buy it at any price.

User questions & answers

Question: Isn't Kobalt is the in-house brand of Lowes, where this sells for about
Answer: Mine is about 7 years old, and thought it failed when I tried it after a long time sitting around. I had the old battery in there, probably original, but it read 3V, and 2.8V with 20mA load, so I figured it was still okay. It wouldn't turn on at all, but I found it still worked after putting a new battery in it. Apparently it's sensitive to low batteries, and won't even give out a peep when trying to turn it on. It only draws 0.6 uA when it's off and 9.04 mA when it's on, so it probably would have lasted even longer since I didn't use it that frequently, but turns out they have a poor design where the negative battery clip was soldered with a high sharp edge protruding from it, and it pierced the thin layer of tape they apparently relied on for insulation from the nearby drive bar, which just happens to be connected to the positive of the battery. When the battery is pushed, or if the torque adapter is being used, it would touch and short the battery out, which turned off the unit. I noticed it would keep shutting down unexpectedly while applying torque, which twists things around inside and touches down. Drained down my new battery quite a bit until I found the issue.I was able to fix it by smoothing out the solder for the clip to get more clearance, and now it works fine again. Wasn't too hard to open up with a JIS screwdriver, so if you're out of warranty, you're not out of luck, as you might be able to just fix it on your own.

User questions & answers

Question: how long is this wrench
Answer: 2.5 x 3 x 16 inches
Question: How would this be set if I require 76ft-lbs torque
Answer: Hello, Please turn knurled handle until its top edge is even with the horizontal “70” mark on main scale and the “0” mark on micrometer scale is centered on vertical line of main scale. The micrometer-scale divides the main scale markings into 10 divisions. Every micrometer-scale marking equals 1 ft.-lb. To increase torque from 70 to 76, turn the micrometer handle clockwise until the "6" mark is centered on the vertical line of the main scale. Regards,
Question: many low torque wrench has little sound at low torque, does this one make click sound at 50inlbs below
Answer: The click is audible, but only just. My first bolt I torque with this, I was expecting a "THUNK" like the ft-lb cousin, but considering the torque we're working with is extremely low, the less than audible "THUNK" should be expected. When using this one, go slow, and rely more on the feel than the sound, as you'll get a "THUNK" you can feel in your hands when you get to the required spec.
Question: Where is torque wrench made
Answer: Hello, The LX-184 Developed, Designed and Warranted by LEXIVON USA - Manufactured and Certified in Taiwan under our strict quality standards & supervision. Regards.
