User questions & answers
Question: | Is there any functional difference between the black/grey handles and the blue/red handeles |
Answer: | Black/Grey is ESD if you need to work on sensitive electronics. |
Question: | These are 10 inches long |
Answer: | nope, 125mm is just short of 5 inches |
Question: | Would the lead catcher be capable of holding on to steel (nickel?) guitar strings? They tend to fly off at high velocity and become invisible |
Answer: | Its likely the lead catch would hold the thinner strings. The thicker strings may be beyond the cutting capacity of this tool. |
Question: | Is the lead catcher removable |
Answer: | The lead catcher is not removable. You may want to consider the 78 61 125 ESD. This model has the same cutting capacity but does not include the lead catcher. |
Question: | Are replacement blades available |
Answer: | They are, but I can't seem to find them on Amazon (we don't currently list them either). The SKU is 90 29 40. |
Question: | Can these cut sch 80 1-1/4 inch pvc pipe |
Answer: | TL;DR - They can probably do it but the pipe is larger than the cutters are designed to handle. I assume you are referring to 1.25" as the nominal measurement. The actual outside diameter of SCH 80 1-1/4" is 1.660". The cutters are spec'd to cut 40mm (1.57"). I used them to cut 1.25" sch 40, and they can do it, but it forces the pipe into an oblong shape which results into a suboptimal cut. I don't think the wall thickness of the material is going to be your challenge, it's going to be that the outside diameter of 1.25" material exceeds the capacity of the C shaped section where the pipe is held by the tool during cutting. |
Question: | Where is this made? germany, right? not in taiwan like knipex |
Answer: | This product is manufactured in Germany. |

Quality in Every Detail
Sometimes we give our pliers a really hard time. We try to destroy them to find out what makes them good and long lasting. Because we don't want to leave anything to chance, we take a long, careful look.
The steel Knipex uses is precisely hardened with a maximum of 0.8 percent carbon and defined parts of chromium and vanadium, guaranteeing optimum cutting performance and service life — even though it requires special production and costs a bit more. But our high product demands require this.
Knipex also looks closely at the small details. The angles, the sharpness, the hardness, the toughness of the cutting edges. The precision and smooth movement of the joint. The handle design and the finish. We keep reviewing these subjects, we research, we test, and we improve our pliers.

User questions & answers
Question: | Why the side jaw doesn't fully close? I've just received mine and when the tool is fully collapsed I still see a gap (1.5 mm) in the side jaw |
Answer: | The side jaw does the same job as the "primary" jaw. It is just there to get at clamps where yo do not have the room to use the primary. The tool does not have to close all the way to tighten an Oetiker clamp, so some gap will certainly not hurt its function. I am guessing the gap is there to prevent over-tightening (your visibility is worse in a tight space where you would have to use the side clamp) |
Question: | Is the normal delivery time for this tool a month |
Answer: | depends on the seller, many of us ship same day and will spend 2-3 days in transit. |
Question: | I ordered a set of the front jaw only ear clamp pliers and received one of the front and side jaw variants. is there an easy way to sort this out |
Answer: | the pliers with both jaws can do the job of the pliers with only the front jaw. so actually you got two tools for the price of one. i would keep it |
Question: | These clamps are extremely difficult to remove without using a cut-off wheel. can these pliers also be used to remove them |
Answer: | The pliers do not help with removal. The Oetiker clamps have to be destroyed in the process of removal, they are not meant to be reusable. I find it easiest to go under the end with a sharp flat head screwdriver and "unhook" it. (you can pry them apart) If you have hopes of removing and reusing them, you will be disappointed. If you can cut them off with a grinder without damaging the hose, that is actually not a bad option. |

User questions & answers
Question: | whats the differance between the 71 31 200 and these |
Answer: | The 71 32 200 has a built in spring that opens the jaws for easier one handed operation. The 71 31 200 does not have the spring. The jaws are the same otherwise. |
Question: | Is this the new version? I mean the CoBolt |
Answer: | Our stock, which comes directly from Knipex, is currently a mix of the old and new versions. |
Question: | Is this 2015 version which has marks on blade |
Answer: | I bought mine in 2016, there isn't a mark on the blade. I'm happy with it, use it all the time. Best cutter I own! |
Question: | What is the knotch for |
Answer: | If you ever try to cut something too thick with scissors , you will notice how the object you are trying to cut tends to roll out of the scissors. The notch on the blades of the bolt cutter prevent this from happening. |

Knipex 71 32 200 8-Inch Cobalt Compact Bolt Cutter
An all-around tool for the toughest demands, this Knipex high-leverage CoBolt cutter features a lever action design that applies 20 times more hand force for superior cutting power with less effort. This mini bolt cutter can cut through more than you ever thought possible — up to 1/4-inch diameter with ease. It's ideal for automotive or construction applications, cutting cotter pins and nails, repeated use in factory assembly lines, cutting wire fencing in agricultural settings, or even everyday tasks such as cutting floral wire or fish hooks.
Forged from chrome vanadium electric steel, it's built to last. This lightweight cutter features precision-matched cutting edges for cutting soft or hard steel. The cutting edge recess near the joint keeps thicker wires in a better cutting position (optimum lever ratio), so there is no need to reposition the tool to achieve the desired cut. It's completed with multi-component comfort handle grips for a wider grip. It also features gripping jaws below the joint for gripping and pulling nails and wires.

User questions & answers
Question: | What standard iron pipe sizes does this work with |
Answer: | Works great on anything up to 2" |
Question: | What’s the difference between this and |
Answer: | I haven't used either specifically, but it appears the difference is similar to what one would see with the normal Cobra and the QuickSet Cobra. The 8361015 is similar to the Cobra in the sense the button needs pressed each time an adjustment is made. The newer 8361015 is similar to the Quickset where you can press the button, slide the adjustment all the way to the top then back down to where it is needed. Overall, though, they work the same otherwise. |
