Answer:	They are metal. Not sure of the exact alloy content, but I've had my pair for about 8 or 9 years and use them regularly, and have yet to break them. The teeth aren't as sharp/ grip as well as they used to, but they are pretty old and still have plenty of bite. They are far from being considered worn out.

Answer:	I think it's pretty much personal preference and what you commonly use the pliers for. The v-jaw can provide more gripping surface on rounder object like pipes, bolts etc. and some nuts. I prefer the straight since most things I use them for allows better contact, and even for rounder objects the still grip well when you get a 3 point connection (top jaw, bottom jaw, and back of throat). If you are unsure, there are some sets on amazon that give you one of each. (example Part# VGP1802534 / ASIN# B008H6EKOQ, https://www.amazon.com/Vise-Grip-GrooveLock-V-Jaw-Straight/dp/B008H6EKOQ). They have been great for me and I highly recommend them.

Answer:	No, the grips are not specially made to provide electrical insulation. They will provide some level of insulation, but so will paint or masking tape - does not mean it's a good idea, safe, or should be relied upon regularly. If you want to see what properly constructed electrically insulating pliers look like, take a look at Knipex (world's greatest pliers, BTW) and you'll see their regular linesman pliers, cutters, etc., and then ALSO their 1000V rated electrical versions of the same pliers. The purpose-built insulation difference is clear, and they cost a little more, along with more bulk, as expected. I expect that if you are an electrician, you'd invest in the $$$ insulated version, and if you never or rarely worked on electrical things, you'd buy the regular version and take multiple extra precautions, etc. when needing to work on wiring.

Answer:	Nope, Taiwan. The packaging clearly shows this, and the country or origin is a lie. Irwin sold out the Vise-Grip brand in 2008 and moved all production to East Asia. The quality is terrible now. If you want a quality tool I'd recommend Channellock (USA) or Knipex (Germany).

Answer:	No... They do not. They close only on the front edge, then spread more apart gradually going toward the back edge (the handle). Sorry so late! I was using them to move my stall mats around (very heavy). They hold them without tearing them up, and much easier for ME. LOVE them! Had to wash all the mud off first, just to make sure...
