They will provide some level of insulation, but so will paint or masking tape - does not mean it's a good idea, safe, or should be relied upon regularly. If you want to see what properly constructed electrically insulating pliers look like, take a look at Knipex (world's greatest pliers, BTW) and you'll see their regular linesman pliers, cutters, etc., and then ALSO their 1000V rated electrical versions of the same pliers. The purpose-built insulation difference is clear, and they cost a little more, along with more bulk, as expected. I expect that if you are an electrician, you'd invest in the $$$ insulated version, and if you never or rarely worked on electrical things, you'd buy the regular version and take multiple extra precautions, etc. when needing to work on wiring.

Answer:	The grip jaw design to me is made especially for pipes. Half inch and bigger. So if you were running nothing but sprinkler systems and Rigid conduits, so for, they are perfect. The straight jaws can hold pipes and many more things. Just to me depends on what you are doing.
Question:	I need to replace a whole house water filter, the filter housing is 6.25 in. or so in diameter. Can you get a full grip on the highest adjustment
Answer:	I don't know don't know for sure.....A set of strap wrenches may perform better on the filter housings.
Question:	Do these pliers have a lifetime warranty
Answer:	you will never need to replace these. tradesmen never break channel lock pliers, they loose them. but if there is a manufacturer defect of any king they will honor their products. these are the best.
Question:	WHAT COUNTRY ARE THEY MADE IN
Answer:	Channellock still manufactures more than 120 different sizes and types of pliers and hand tools at its facilities in Meadville, Pennsylvania. I'm surprised that they don't have this a little closer to the top of their description. I will always buy a tool from the US before I buy one anywhere else.
