Answer:	There’s a small screw opposite where the tape comes out. There are two (pre-installed) AAA batteries there.

The LDM1 is faster, safer and more accurate than a conventional tape measure. What is the manufacturer's accuracy specification of this unit

Answer:

General Tool does not seem to publish a specification. I have used the LDM2 (see below about LDM1) to measure within 1/16 inch - with the unit placed very carefully, and aiming at a flat surface. What I mean is, for my purposes 36 inches is the same as 36 1/16, so if I were to really need to know the difference I would in fact use a tape measure or yardstick. BTW I don't know for a fact that LDM1 is same basic electronics as LDM2, though I suspect it is. I can't read the screen on LDM1 very well so I returned it and got the LDM2, which is much easier to read for those 16ths.
