The steel is tempered, annealed and polished to achieve the necessary hardness and provide optimum resistance to corrosion.
SHARPENING
To re-sharpen your knife, use a whetstone at an angle of 15°– 20°. This will result in a cutting angle of 30°– 40°. If sharpening on a grinding wheel, always cool with plenty of water to avoid excessive temperatures and the resulting damages that may occur.
CLEANING
If the blades of knife begin to stick together, open and close the blades in warm water several times - this will allow the tools to move easily again. Once dry, apply a drop of Swiss Army Knife Oil between each tool and its spring. Do not put Swiss Army Knives in the dishwasher.

User questions & answers
Question: | is there any way to attach a pocket clip to this? thanks |
Answer: | If my memory serves me right it was made in China. |
Question: | Ship to another country |
Answer: | It’s ready to go. The legs fold out. They close by pulling the latch for each leg under the cushion. I had a knee replacement and this is a godsend for kneeling. |
Question: | It says in the description on amazon its manufactured in china. who has the latest one to check it. i just got a champ and it says swiss made |
Answer: | I purchased mine in June 2019 and don’t know when the bench was upgraded. You may want to contact the manufacturer. |
Question: | The description says there are 16 tools...I only count/find |
Answer: | As a stool? Possibly on a flat rock or on a flagstone type patio or porch. On a pile of rocks, like beside a creek or something, it would be no steadier than a folding chair. As a kneeler? It probably wouldn’t be very sturdy getting up off your knees, unless the bottom of each side were resting on hard ground between rocks. |

This innovative design meant Elsener could put twice as many features on the knife, which included a blade, a second smaller cutting blade, reamer, can-opener, screwdriver, corkscrew, and wood fiber grips. User questions & answers
Question: | Swiss Army Executive knife |
Answer: | Some European countries (Germany specifically, but probably others) have laws against locking knives that are able to be opened one-handed. I'm guessing this version is designed with those markets in mind. |
Question: | can you buy replacement tweezers |
Answer: | It says Swiss made. |
Question: | Do these say wounded warrior project on the back |
Answer: | It is a large knife, but not that large! The approximate dimensions are: 135 mm x 40 mm x 12 mm (17 mm including the clip) at 180 g. :-) |
Question: | Will graphite work better to lube the blades |
Answer: | For the blades themselves, the 1.4110 is the standard and it’s functionality truly reflect the intent of Victorinox. This standard puts a strong focus in Chromium, but also utilizes; Carbon, Molybdenum, Manganese, and Silicon to name a few of the overriding secondary elements. The Chromium normally sits between 13.3 to 14.8% ensuring its stainless steel properties. The carbon will normally hold just below .70% in order to provide the tensile strength needed to last, and Mo, Mn, and Si are found around .75 to 1.0%. The blade hardening occurs at 1900 degrees with an annealing temperature of 140 degrees giving it an Rc of 56. |

About Victorinox
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

User questions & answers
Question: | Plastic or alox handle |
Answer: | Yes, they are sharp right out of the box. |
Question: | What is the width of the knife |
Answer: | Some of the pictures used show different models, this is not the plus model or the Camper. No pen, phillips or eyglass screwdriver, but still an awsome option, just read the description carefully and don't depend on the supplemental photos. |
Question: | What are the dimensions for this knife? How long is the blade? What is the length width and height of the knife when closed |
Answer: | To the best of my knowledge all the parts are made in Switzerland. I heard years ago the red scales were made in the USA, do not know if it was true. |
Question: | Can you bring this in a carry-on |
Answer: | They Boy Scout logo version is called a Huntsman, but it is not like the other Huntsman that don't have the logo. Makes sense that BSA didn't want to endorse a product with a cork screw so they changed it to a Phillips screwdriver. The strange thing is that it then becomes exactly like the Fieldmaster but without a logo. Why they didn't call it a Fieldmaster with BSA logo is beyond me. Maybe the Huntsman existed first and then they made the BSA version and then maybe people requested this version but without the BSA logo so in hindsight they had to call it Fieldmaster. I spoke with Victorinox on the phone and they confirmed Huntsman BSA logo has Phillips and no cork screw which is different than other Huntsman....making it exactly like Fieldmaster (but with no logo). The rest is just my speculation. |
Question: | Do the blades come sharpened |
Answer: | Austrian Navy Tradesman spoon |
Question: | It's unclear from the photo/description f this one comes with a phillips attachment. Does it? Thank you |
Answer: | Yes. The Victorinox Small Replacement Tweezers part is number A.6142. Best bet is probably from Victorinox directly as few sellers stock these. :-) |
Question: | this knife and all the parts ar made in swizerland correct |
Answer: | Only the Wounded Warrior series knives will say Wounded Warrior Project. |
Question: | The picture for the red with Boy Scout logo looks like the Field Master which has a Phillips screwdriver. Is this the Fieldmaster or Huntsman |
Answer: | A light oil will work. We offer a knife oil, sku 4.3302 - https://www.swissarmy.com/us/en/search/product?q=4.3302 |

The Swiss Army Knife is the most recognizable icon of utility and smart design, and the knives are still made exclusively in only two factories in Switzerland.

History and Heritage
In 1884, Master Cutler Karl Elsener opened a cutlery shop in Ibach, Switzerland. There, he and the cutlers’ union he formed produced the finest steel cutlery, finished with the now-famous proprietary edge preferred globally by professional and home cooks. In 1891, Karl supplied the Swiss Army with its standard issue Soldier’s Knife and in 1897 with the Officer’s Knife. In 1921, after the death of his mother, Victoria, and with the advent of stainless steel, then known as “inoxydable" and used in the production of his cutlery, Karl changed the name of the company to Victorinox. It is from those humble beginnings that a worldwide icon was born.
Today, Victorinox is still owned and operated by the Elsener family, and both the company and family still resides in the small village of Ibach, Switzerland.
Care Tips for Swiss Army Knives
The various tools are manufactured from high-quality steel with precisely tuned features that are essential for the particular application.
Cleaning
After you’ve used your Swiss Army Knife for all of its various applications, such as cutting open numerous boxes, you may notice that the blades begin to stick together. Opening and closing the blades in warm water several times will allow the tools to easily move again. Once they have dried, it is recommended, to apply a small drop of oil between the blade or tool shank and the spring. To optimally maintain the locking mechanism, periodically apply a drop of our recommended Swiss Army Knife Oil. Never put Swiss Army Knives in the dishwasher.

User questions & answers
Question: | Would a 9 yr. boy be able to handle |
Answer: | Yes but it is very versatile, like having 10 juices in one. So whatever situation (cocktail party, brunch or dinner), you always have the right juice for the right task. |
Question: | Does anyone know the difference between the Camper and the Camper II |
Answer: | So sorry I can't answer your question. I can't possibly tell you how many Swiss Army knives I've had in my lifetime--perhaps 50 or so, from the little keychain knife to the big Champion, in multiple colors (red, blue, white, orange, etc.). But I've never gotten a flawed Swiss Army knife. Eventually they might wear out or get scarred, but that takes many years. I'd recommend appealing your case to Amazon, if that's where your knife came from or to the shipper. |
Question: | Does this black color version have the word 'camping' written on it |
Answer: | I can't, but maybe a guy with the right tool could. Two parts of scissor are riveted together. Mine never got so dull that I felt they needed to be sharpened. |
Question: | Will the victorinox camper make it through tsa inspections in my carry on |
Answer: | I am a fisherman that really uses the knife and most of all the scissors. I feel it's definitely worth it. |

Answer: | No idea. I live in upstate by and had no problem with shipping. |
Question: | I see 4.5 oz and 6.5 oz. both listed as the item weight. Could someone share the weight of the item itself? Many thanks |
Answer: | VSA RangerGrip come in either Red/Black or Green/Black grip. They do not come in pink. |
Question: | Can you tell me if this is the Swiss champ multi-tool knife and tell me how many individual tools this knife has as well as what each tool is? Thanks |
Answer: | The lock is a liner lock style (no button it’s an internal spring bar) and it would be physically impossible to press the lock while it’s closed as it springs into place when the is opened. There is no cool guy flicking open the blade with this knife however, the hole in the blade works very well as a one hand opening thumb assist. |

Karl supplied the Swiss Army with its standard issue Soldier’s Knife and Officer’s Knife. After the death of his mother, and with the advent of stainless steel, Karl changed the name of the company to Victorinox. It is from those humble beginnings that a worldwide icon was born. Today, Victorinox is still owned and operated by the Elsener family, and both the company and family still resides in the small village of Ibach, Switzerland.

The Four Cornerstones of Victorinox
The various tools of a Swiss Army Knife are manufactured from high-quality steel with precisely tuned features that are essential for the particular application. The steel is tempered, annealed and polished to achieve the necessary hardness and provide optimum resistance to corrosion. Every knife embodies our four cornerstones: quality, functionality, innovation and iconic design.
Functionality
The Swiss Army Knife is the ultimate multi-tool. Whether you need a magnifying glass to read fine print or a metal saw to cut through iron, the Swiss Army knife has your back. In addition to a blade, these gadgets include various implements such as screwdrivers, bottle openers, and scissors.
Innovation is our Tradition
Innovation is our tradition and has been ever since we patented the first Swiss Army Knife in 1897. Here in the Swiss Knife Valley, we take lumps of molten steel and blend with generations of experience to forge knives which are loved all over the world. As we continue to find new ways to improve our knives we also strive to apply better solutions that meet new requirements and our customers unarticulated needs.
Iconic Design
In 1891 Karl Elsener, the owner of Victorinox, was under contract by the Swiss Army to produce a folding pocket knife to be suitable for use by soldiers for opening canned food and disassembling the Swiss service rifle. Elsener invented a special spring mechanism allowing him to attach the tools on both sides of the handle, using the same spring to hold the tools in place. This innovative design meant Elsener could put twice as many features on the knife, which included a blade, a second smaller cutting blade, reamer, can-opener, screwdriver, corkscrew, and wood fiber grips. The Swiss Army Knife is the most recognizable icon of utility and smart design, and the knives are still made exclusively in only two factories in Switzerland.
