SHARPENING

To re-sharpen your knife, use a whetstone at an angle of 15°– 20°. This will result in a cutting angle of 30°– 40°. If sharpening on a grinding wheel, always cool with plenty of water to avoid excessive temperatures and the resulting damages that may occur.



CLEANING

If the blades of knife begin to stick together, open and close the blades in warm water several times - this will allow the tools to move easily again. Once dry, apply a drop of Swiss Army Knife Oil between each tool and its spring. Do not put Swiss Army Knives in the dishwasher.

Answer:	The knife does come in many colors and should be available in blue. If it says you'll get blue you probably will.

Answer:	Not by me, but yes. Many of the SA knives taken at the airport by the TSA have been engraved. The suggestion of a trophy shop or maybe a jeweler would be good options. There is one SAK seller who offers the service. I will try to locate them and post an update.

Answer:	To the best of my knowledge, no it does not lock in place when open - so watch your fingers. I bought it to put it on my keychain. It's small and lightweight. There are larger and stronger swiss army knives, but this suits my casual purposes.

Answer:	If you can afford a carving jack why would you even consider buying this ??? don't get me wrong it's a good little knife for the money but it's bulky and not ergonomic at all your hand will hurt after a wile and the blades don't lock like the carving jack . Answer:	This is sad. I am 63 years old and remember when "Schrade" and "Uncle Henry" were brand names of knives you were PROUD to own and showed off to all your friends. Fortunately I do still have one old 'Uncle Henry" old enough to be of good quality. I recall sharpening a knife (Uncle Henry) for our Sgt and when he cut himself with it the doctor (took 12 stitches inside & out to sew him up) said it looked like he had been cut with a scalpel. I bet you couldn't get one of these new knives that sharp.
Question:	Can you clean a deer with it
Answer:	To all those complaining about the blades not locking, a blade lock was developed to keep a knife from closing when it is used to stab, like a folding skinner going through thick hide at the start of a cut (which is the wrong way to start that cut, too, by the way). If you are using this tool in any way that causes the blades to close on your fingers, you don't know how to use the tool, and you're looking for a hardware fix for a training deficiency. Stop blaming the tool and fix your ignorance. Nobody is born knowing how to use a carving knife, or any other type of knife, any more than they're born knowing how to use a hammer, saw, drill, gun, stove, oven, or jackhammer, and you shouldn't expect to expertly use a tool until you've spent some time learning how to.

Answer:	No, not according to DHS.

Answer:	We usually don't replace the battery.Since the battery and the LED light are an accessory that is connected together. If you want to replace the battery,then you need to replace LED light and the battery at the same time, it is complicated. The battery on the survival bracelet can last for more than 70 hrs, it usually enough for using in the wild emergency
Question:	Has anybody actually been able to start a fire using this firestarter
Answer:	Yes, but the certification of the LED, Compass and Thermometer has no official guarantee. The Thermo and Compass seem sealed well enough as they have no exposed adjustments. The LED has a small hole when opened. It is closed/sealed by the cap-pull on the T-Knife when buckled. If that cap is missing, the seal is with your skin and the bottom of the LED portion. The metal tools, including Ferro rod, are sealed away via the buckle so they will not be lost, but as for exposure to water long term, that is something in would check and dry after exposure. So that is the best I can say for "waterproof".

Answer:	yes- You would want to glue the scales on if you needed it solid. If I was going to sharpen the wood blade, I would do so by paying a piece of 80-150 grit sand paper over the stone, or glue sandpaper to a 2X4 for a "stone" regards jsw
Question:	Ours keeps falling apart. Where can I glue it without losing movement
Answer:	The cub scouts have set their up to either allow for taking apart and putting back together or not. If they are to be taken apart, then running cellophane tape over the back spring will help keep it together. Some will put the tape over the pins, but that tends to rub off easily. If the model is to stay up, then tapping a thin drop of cyanoacrylate (super glue) at the handles, liner, spring edges and at the edge of the pins-handles will keep the models together. This is what the scouts usually do, if they get greedy with the adhesive, then they will need to sand it smooth, with regards to the glue, it is a "less is more" situation. Regards

Answer:	Mine doesn't show a "made in" description. It does inform that the blade is Chinese steel (so most likely the whole knife is made in China). Although the price is higher I would recommend a benchmade as the quality seems also to be higher (just bought the benchmade for my wife and she won't change with me)

Answer:	Yes it is pointed. It is a good knife, the blade is a little soft, but a kitchen knife sharpener works wonders in very little time. Not what I would call heavy duty or built to last, but I have had it for about six months now and I think it will last another six months or so...not bad considering the price.

Answer:	This is a liner lock if you look at the base of the blade you will see a piece of metal at the back of the blade use your thumb to press this lock away from the blade to one side at the same time use your other hand to close blade. After a little practice you will be able to close with one hand.

History and Heritage In 1884, Master Cutler Karl Elsener opened a cutlery shop in Ibach, Switzerland. Care Tips for Swiss Army Knives The various tools are manufactured from high-quality steel with precisely tuned features that are essential for the particular application. The steel is tempered, annealed and polished to achieve the necessary hardness and provide optimum resistance to corrosion. Sharpening To re-sharpen your knife, use a whetstone at an angle of 15°– 20°. This will result in a cutting angle of 30°– 40°. If sharpening on a grinding wheel, always cool with plenty of water to avoid excessive temperatures and the resulting damages that may occur. Iconic Design

In 1891 Karl Elsener, the owner of Victorinox, was under contract by the Swiss Army to produce a folding pocket knife to be suitable for use by soldiers for opening canned food and disassembling the Swiss service rifle. Elsener invented a special spring mechanism allowing him to attach the tools on both sides of the handle, using the same spring to hold the tools in place.
