Answer:	I’ve had my set for about a year and they haven’t rusted. I don’t put them in the dishwasher, I hand wash them, dry them and put them away. This is a wonderful set of knives.

Answer:	It sure does! I personally tested it opening a can of chicken noodle soup which I then heated by a fire started with the fire starter!

Answer:	The jagged piece once unscrewed is the stricker for the ferro rod. This way it gives all the pieces you need to strike and get a spark and there is a tinder cotton as well so everything you need to start a fire. Hope this helps

The wood is good as long as it ALWAYS has water in it (full - like a whiskey barrel), but when it is full then empty the wood shrinks back up and leaks. Plastic that looks like wood is better for water. If you want real wood for something other than liquid, then wood would be great.

It definitely is not a black coat, so I suppose it is more of a rustic version, but I guess that would depend on ones version of rustic. It really is a beautiful yet simple looking throwback type of chopping knife. I apologize if my answer seems a bit vague. It's about the best I can answer though. Take care.

Answer:	The one I have from 2016 has a full flat grind with the last 1/4 inch a scandi grind. The left side is slightly convex, the right side is straight scandi, I expect this it just a minor quality control issue and not intentional. I have a lot of big knives and this combination of full flat and scandi grind is without a doubt my favorite for any blade thicker than 1/8 inch.

Answer:	I disagree with some of the posters on here. Personally I think carbon steel holds the edge 10x's better than stainless steel. The only thing stainless steel offers is it's easy to clean and does not rust. My grandfather was born in the 1800s and was a machinist and produced handmade full tang carbon steel knife blades with wooden handles and rivets. We carried those knives in our family for 90 years passed down from generation to generation and they always kept the edge just by sharpening them on a steel. Carbon steel rust but it's easy to clean all you have to do is use some steel wool and it comes off in two seconds.
