Answer:	Most likely not. There are some minor quality issues with mine... the jaws are slightly misaligned and the jaw edgoes are excruciatingly sharp and ragged in a couple of spots. I thought it would be simple to get soft jaw inserts, but the 3" size had me hacking down a 4.5" set of nylon ones. It also did not leave very much clamping space after inserting them. But it is heavy!!! And does a great job if you can figure out how to deal with the small issues.

Answer:	I believe castcast iron. great quality, for a deeper bench why not get the bigger one that gets bolted down. this is a great quick fix

Answer:	No it doesn’t need to be coated anywhere. It’s painted for protection although it very easily chips. I used this small vise for very light duty clamping so I don’t have a problem with that. For its size this thing is a beast
