User questions & answers
Question: | Is it me or these prices do not add up |
Answer: | Can you explain your question for my benefit? What prices don't add up? Isn't it one price for this item? thx |
Question: | This says 23' long strap. I don't need 23', usually 2' to 5'. Does the 23' strap get in the way or hinder smaller projects |
Answer: | For me, it's not been an issue. I only reel out as much strap as I need for my projects. So far that's been for frames that are no more than 48" x 48". |
Question: | Does this come with the angle plates or do you need to buy them separately? (bessey vac-6 angle plates |
Answer: | Yes, it has the angle plates. It is a very nice tool that I use when building picture frames. |
Question: | I want to make a 12 sided picture frame would this clamp work |
Answer: | I imagine that it would work. The straps are nylon fabric so they should form to whatever shape you're doing. You may need more of the corner braces since it only comes with 4 of them. Although it might (I don't know for sure) hold things in place without the braces. You would need to be careful, though, not to get glue on the straps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these have the same base height as the larger WSM-12 clamps, so that they can be used together without having to use shims of some sort |
Answer: | Yes,right at 1" |
Question: | What is the largest square tubing it will hold for mitre cut tubing? Looks like 3 1/2 inchest |
Answer: | I agree 3 1/2" would be the largest. I don't have any that size on hand but tried 3" square tube in the clamps and had about 5/8" clearance with the jaws wide open. So would not fit in 4" square tube. |
Question: | how big of tubing can you put in the jaws |
Answer: | The depth of the jaws is 1.25 inches. This should hold a 2 inch diameter tube with no problems. This is an excellent tool for welding 90 degrees angles. I have used it on many different projects. |
Question: | What's the country of origin on this? I mean the picture looks to be a bit old since it says W. Germany, most Bessey stuff is out of China now anyway |
Answer: | I kept the original box. I just now checked, and the box says "Made In Germany". I have had it for a couple of years so possibly they are now made in China, but mine is German. |
Question: | does it work with angles other than |
Answer: | Not that I'm aware of. There may be an attachment. Maybe creativity can be found on youtube. |
Question: | Where is it made |
Answer: | have to look at clamp again . must be said that it was minimal thought and design (castings marginal thickness-thin wall cast ) for expense from a prestigeous purveyor as bessey . limited usage as material thickness stops at 1 3/8 . somewhat awkward to use .not a journey man's companion . occupy valuable space and weight to job site for other equipment better served . company detached and unresponsive . disappointing - should have purchased similar more versatile clamp with 1 1/2 capacity from a competitor at a more reasonable price -- a name does not get the job done --- performance and cost effectiveness does |
Question: | A similar Irwin clamp has a problem w/ the plastic housing that the screw runs through breaking under heavy pressure. Can this handle heavy pressure |
Answer: | I'm making large bee hive boxes and have never had a problem at all. |
Question: | will rhis jig hold 2x4s |
Answer: | Yes on the 1 1/2 side. Not on the 3 1/2 side. Clamp won't pull the pieces together. The jig is very shallow so it won't clamp the whole piece. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What size strap can be used |
Answer: | The ones that came with it |
Question: | Has anybody successfully used these with a ratchet tie down strap for a DIY-ish strap clamp |
Answer: | I think they would work fine, but there would have to be a limit on the force applied. The strap would have to be the proper width. No more than one inch wide. |
Question: | What is the length of the clip in the 180° position |
Answer: | The clip is about 1 3/4 inches long when set flat as pictured in description |
Question: | Would I be able to use regular crank straps with these |
Answer: | Yes as long as you straps are the correct size to fix into the angle plate. I bought 2 of these 6 packs and 2 of the straps love them. |
Question: | Is this clamp big enough to handle 4.25 schedule 40 pipe? pipe |
Answer: | This clamp is big enough to handle 4.25 schedule 40 pipe. |
Question: | What is the country of origin |
Answer: | Germany. These are awesome. They are pricey, but you get a lot for your money they are very precise. I love mine. |
Question: | What is the weight? 1 pound seems low |
Answer: | It's closer to 3 pounds. |
Question: | Do these have the same base height as the smaller WSM-9 clamps, so that they can be used together without having to use shims of some sort |
Answer: | Yes,they both have a 1inch thick base |

User questions & answers
Question: | Two clamps with only four corner clips? Or two clamps with eight corner clips |
Answer: | Each stap clamp comes with four corner clips. X 2s clamp means you get eight corner clips total. |
Question: | what's the max wood size you can camp with this |
Answer: | 2 3/4 " |
Question: | What is the max width this will clamp laying flat? Example would be a screen door corner....8" bottom 4" rail |
Answer: | The Bessey WS-1 Jaw opens to approximately 2.75" on each side. I do not think this will work for your application. Might I suggest you look at these "3-D Setup Square by Jevons - Amazon price: $28.98 for a set of 4"? You'll need some clamps to square of your work but these are very helpful in maintaining a solid 90" angle at each of the corners. Of course, I'm a Bessey fanatic so I would point you to these affordable clamps for that portion of your job. Like the Bessey LMU2.008 to clamp the 4" rail (with the Jevons Square) and the Bessey LM2.012 to clamp the adjoining face (with the Jevons Square). Just a thought so keep or toss the idea to suit your needs. HINT - If you are going to invest any $$$$ in to Clamps, I would buy Bessey. They are a little more expensive but they will last you a lifetime. Also, I would recommend you purchase a clamp somewhat larger than you need for this project because you may be limiting your clamp's capability(ies) for the next project. Good luck!! |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this clamp work on thin wood I want to dry fit 1/8 moiling but the clamp I have keeps slipping off the corners |
Answer: | They would not be able to adjust to mouldings with the plastic adjusters, you would only be able to use the strap so it would depend on the shape of the mouldings |
Question: | How wide is the strap on the bessey vas |
Answer: | I hope this helps you! It is a great tool! I love working with frames of different sizes, and this works great: Bessey - 23 Ft. Strap, Polyester Band Clamp1 Inch Strap Width, Includes Four Corner Clips |
Question: | I am building a table with 3/4 inch thick boards and when I try to clamp they pop up and out of the strap. Ideas? Advice |
Answer: | A strap vice such as this will draw the pieces together but its not designed to deal with upward/downward forces. For those you need to place your work on a stable, flat surface and use something to clamp or hold it all down on the surface. For frames I set it all up & check square first. Then pull out two end pieces, glue & replace. Re-establish & tighten the strap, checking corners. Then I clamp all 4 corners down to the table. If you're trying to glue up multiple lengths of parallel wood, not a frame, I suggest using two 2x4s across, held down by 4 clamps, after tightening the strap. |
Question: | How *small* can the width of the workpiece be before the size of the trigger/clamping mechanism is too big |
Answer: | I did a little experimenting and the smallest block of wood I could get in it and all the "jaws" clamping it correctly was 2 inch by 4 inch. Of course, you could always use spacers. As far as thickness, I've clamped 1/4 inch thick stuff before, but you can only use slight pressure or the wood will bend. |

Product description
Whether you’re a professional carpenter or want to save money on furniture by trying to build your own, you’ll never have enough clamps. If you’re working on cabinets or picture frames, especially, you’ll benefit from a 90 degree clamp for putting your miter joints together. The WS-3+2K from Bessey is an impressive piece of equipment that works wonders for this simple application. It has a wide opening for most 2x4s, and two bonus clamps that keep this held flush to the edge of your workbench. The ergonomic grip gives you tightening nearly as fast as a quick release system, but with more of a reliable grip. A plastic right-angled insert is included, too. You can use it to keep the clamp tightened while it’s not being used on one of your projects, and you can use it to double check if your angles are squared. You’re not limited to miter joints, either. You can fasten T joints together with this, using a 30 millimeter opening in the sides to drive them through. While there is a 50 millimeter limit to the thickness of the wood, this can effectively handle woods of a wide variety of heights without them tipping. Use this to keep your furniture pieces fastened together before driving screws or gluing them. Even the material coating the clamp is designed to keep it from marring your work surfaces. With Bessey, you can be sure to have a tool you need to keep your projects looking beautiful.
- SIZABLE OPENINGS: You can accommodate 2 3/16 inches (55 Millimeters) of wood on each corner, with a 1 3/16 inch (30 Millimeter) opening available for driving fasteners for T Joints
- MOUNTING: Keep this clamp secured to the edge of your workbench with the two included TK6 table clamps
- DIE-CAST, PLASTIC COATED BODY allows a firm clamp without marring your work materials, resulting in perfect, gap-free miter joints
- ERGONOMIC HANDLE allows you to tighten and loosen this grip with minimal strain on your joints, even while it’s clamped to a table
- A PLASTIC INSERT is included, which you can use to snug the jaws of the clamp while it’s not in use
User questions & answers
Question: | Why does 1 pack cost $19.97 and a 2 pack $87? If my math is right it would make more sense to buy 2 - 1packs |
Answer: | Buy what gives you best deal. I recommend buying four. |
Question: | Can it hold 2 different size of woods together |
Answer: | Yes, it will hold two different thicknesses of wood at right angles, for example when you are making cases or boxes. This is my favorite clamp. Great for assembly. Buy four. |
Question: | does it work with angles other than |
Answer: | No, this is a heavy cast iron 90 degree corner vise. The wood can be put in as a 45 degree mitre joint, or as a butt joint., as shown in the picture. The join area of the vice is about 1/4 inch above workbench level, so you can either put some wood shims under the other end of the join to keep everything leveled, or buy three or four of these to keep everything leveled up. This is an excellent, sturdy corner vise. |
Question: | Will it hold 2x4's |
Answer: | Could be used for 2x4's if you are making end joints with the 2x4's held vertically; otherwise, no. The adjustable portion of the clamp will open to hold pieces up to 3" wide on both sides. But the non-adjustable "through" portion is only 1.125" wide on both sides. I've posted a picture in my review. The non-adjustable "through" portion would be used, for example, if you were joining two pieces with a butt joint at the middle of one of the pieces. |
