As for water proof I would think it would be wise to have the connection coming from the light on the bottom pointing down so no water can possibly seep in. That being said a note. The 500 watt IS NOT 500 watt. It is 366 watt so like me you got screwed if you bought this product.

Answer: This light is great but it requires 120 volts.most trucks are 12 volt systems
