Answer:	Nathan, Thanks for the question. The Moisture Range on this Hand Held meter for CORN is 10 - 40%. However, the clear plastic funnel which is provided to assist with consistent filling of the test cell, will not work well on corn over say 25 - 30%. This is due to the lack of flowability in the higher moisture content. I would suggest that you still fill the funnel, but pour the sample back out the large end at just 1 - 2" above the test cell. EVERY TIME and at the same Rate. With this consistency, you would have much greater repeatability between different tests. Answer:	Not on the standard instrument, but YES, Long Grain and Medium Grain Rough Rice have recently been added to the available Calibration list. Answer:	The meter is designed to test moisture of drywall, wood and masonry. It takes the reading at 3/4 deep. I've used on carpet over masonry, but not sure if it would work on carpet over steel. I'm thinking you will get a false reading.

Answer:	The only function that requires solar power is the light sensing function which will indicate, even indoors a relative reading on how much light you are receiving at the test location. The ph and moisture function rely on natural electrical conductivity of the soil, this is achieved via the dissimilar metals at the tips, no power source is necessary.
Question:	does the meter make any beeping when it detects moisture or is it silent
Answer:	Since soil most often is in/close to neutral state (with pH value of 7), it is highly likely that you find the needle in display window stay still (because the default pH value is set at somewhere between 7 and 8) when you use it to test the pH value of soil. Customers sometimes are misled by this appearance and hence regard the tester as a defective unit by mistake.

Answer:	Kindly NOTE: The pH function of this soil tester can not be applied to test pH value of any other liquid Kindly Note: Do not use it to test pure water or other liquids. It can only be used to measure soil

Answer:	About as sturdy as a 1/16" dowel I would say. anything more than a few pounds of pressure will probably bend it. I have not had any trouble though; if too hard, just take a sample some other place!

Question:	Is there function to test room temperatue
Answer:	It is made in China. Info from general tools inc. We could never build an instrument this cheaply in U.S.
Question:	Can it be used to detect dampness of concrete wall
Answer:	ABSOLUTELY! This is just what you need, it tells you the exact moisture where the contacts touch the wood. There is a small button on the face right under the word GENERAL that allows you to pick wood or concrete. I use it on our Maple flooring in the summer to see where we are with water content.
Question:	What is the scale range
Answer:	It won't show thru the cement unless it is wet. Also is the wall an exterior wall & you could be getting moisture there. With the paint bubbling you do have a water problem from some where inside or out, but you could check with the tool on the inside in the wall real low next to the cement. It worked real well for my particular problem without tearing up the carpet to find my problem. Hope this helps.
Question:	Does this work on gypsum board- material used in mobile home walls
Answer:	I only have the one device so there is no way I could confirm accuracy, but it told me what I needed to know when dealing with a flooded basement. It seemed consistent following 40-50 measurements at levels from 5.5 to 30.8. I got a 5.8 on a several dry studs in the basement and mail level of the house. Sorry I can't be more help.

wrong moisture content this may result in mechanical deformations (contracting and swelling) at the site where the material is

Answer:	Oh. There is temperature measuring function with readings in Celsius and Fahrenheit. Convenient!

After turn on the instrument, press the “HOLD” button to saved measured value, the “HOLD“ icon will show on the screen. By pressing the “HOLD” button shortly, the measuring mode will get reactivated.

Calibration board

Calibration board is located inside the protective cover. Before using, put the measure pins on the calibration board to calibrate, then the measure value would be re-recorded.

Automatic Power-Off Feature

If you don’t operate the instrument (or the reading does not change) for about 10 minutes, the instrument will be turn off automatically.

Answer:	The Extech MO50 takes quick Moisture level reference measurements (in percent %) on wood and building materials. The measurement range for building materials is Low: 1.5% to 16.9%; Medium: 17% to 19.9%; High: 20 to 33%. If the expected moisture percentage of the paper is expected to fall at or above 1.5% then the MO50 Compact Pin Moisture Meter would work appropriately.
Question:	Can this tester measure the moisture content of grain , corn ,soybeans or wheat
Answer:	Thank you so much for your interest in our products. The MO53 is able to detect moisture at 0.8''. For the application you mention, I believe you can be interested in a different meter. From FLIR, we can suggest the MR176 using the MR12 ball probe. That will help you to get almost 4'' depth in the material.
Question:	Can I use it for drywall
Answer:	Expect you would have to push the meter probes through the paint layer to get a good reading.
Question:	Is this pinless
Answer:	It really only measures moisture that is within 1/2" of the surface. For example I have a leaky toilet in a bathroom and the subfloor is saturated with water. I have to push the prongs through the surface of the flooring until it reaches the wet subfloor, in order to get a reading. If you need something for reading deep within a wall, you will need an invasive meter which has really long prongs that can be fed through test holes that you drill into the affected area. If you want to test deep within areas such as several inches, the only way is through destructive inspection, pinless moisture meters, and in some cases infrared cameras. extech is one of the most trusted meter brands and I am very happy with my purchase. It works best for measuring the moisture content of wood specifically at the test location. If there was a flood and the surface appears dry but you have some suspension as to what's going on several inches into the wall cavity, this meter will not help.
