Answer:	Nathan, Thanks for the question. The Moisture Range on this Hand Held meter for CORN is 10 - 40%. However, the clear plastic funnel which is provided to assist with consistent filling of the test cell, will not work well on corn over say 25 - 30%. This is due to the lack of flowability in the higher moisture content. I would suggest that you still fill the funnel, but pour the sample back out the large end at just 1 - 2" above the test cell. EVERY TIME and at the same Rate. With this consistency, you would have much greater repeatability between different tests. Answer:	Not on the standard instrument, but YES, Long Grain and Medium Grain Rough Rice have recently been added to the available Calibration list. These would need to be substituted on the list, for example, Oats and Milo could come off and we add in the Long Grain & Medium Grain Rough Rice. Question:	Is there function to test room temperatue
Answer:	It is made in China. Info from general tools inc. We could never build an instrument this cheaply in U.S.
Question:	Can it be used to detect dampness of concrete wall
Answer:	ABSOLUTELY! This is just what you need, it tells you the exact moisture where the contacts touch the wood. There is a small button on the face right under the word GENERAL that allows you to pick wood or concrete. I use it on our Maple flooring in the summer to see where we are with water content.
Question:	What is the scale range
Answer:	It won't show thru the cement unless it is wet. Also is the wall an exterior wall & you could be getting moisture there. With the paint bubbling you do have a water problem from some where inside or out, but you could check with the tool on the inside in the wall real low next to the cement. It worked real well for my particular problem without tearing up the carpet to find my problem. Hope this helps.
Question:	Does this work on gypsum board- material used in mobile home walls
Answer:	I only have the one device so there is no way I could confirm accuracy, but it told me what I needed to know when dealing with a flooded basement. It seemed consistent following 40-50 measurements at levels from 5.5 to 30.8. I got a 5.8 on a several dry studs in the basement and mail level of the house. Sorry I can't be more help.

Answer:	The meter is designed to test moisture of drywall, wood and masonry. It takes the reading at 3/4 deep. I've used on carpet over masonry, but not sure if it would work on carpet over steel. I'm thinking you will get a false reading.

Answer:	Oh. There is temperature measuring function with readings in Celsius and Fahrenheit. Convenient!

Answer:	I used it only for wood. But there is a building mode which is for building material such as concrete wall. Obviously we can use it to detect dampness of concrete wall.

Answer:	Yes it does. It features 8 separate scales (A-H) to use with different types of wood.A scale is for red oak and white oak. If you can't find the exact scale when you test other woods,you could choose the close wood scale, the result also is accurate

Answer:	My pin protectors were snug fitting but with a slight twist easily removed. If you have never removed the plastic protectors, contact supplier. May have been accidentally glued onto the sharp pins.
Question:	Where is this product made
Answer:	It can be used on masonry. The pins are strong, but they do not need to "poke through". If by "concrete walls" you mean a block wall, then this meter should work well. If you mean poured concrete, understand that all concrete cracks and water, if it seems, seeps through the cracks. Otherwise concrete is pretty much impermeable
Question:	What is your homes average moisture for drywall? My home has water damage throughout the home so I dont have a baseline reference. Thanks
Answer:	You are quite observant, there is no "J" setting on the moisture tester. When I look at the species listed on back of instruction sheet, those labeled "J" seem to be rather rare or exotic species. If you have one of these species, use a setting of say "H" and note moisture reading. Basically you are looking at relative moisture levels over time.

Answer:	This tool will measure the moisture content of any building material including wood and drywall. If the test indicates a high moisture content in just one spot, you could probably conclude that there was a leak at that point.

Answer:	As far as i can tell the probes are about 3/8 long. The are metal, and have a plastic cover to protect them and you when not in use. The cap can also be flipped over once taken off, to help check device itself, for calibration. They are replaceable. They actually come with an extra set of pins (probes). Hope this helps.

Answer:	The meter has push point pins that must penitrate into the material you want to measure. If the engineered bamboo flooring is too hard to allow the pins to penitrate into it the meter will not work. Perhaps you can consult the manufacturer for a more conclusive answer.

Answer:	I think I saw in the literature somewhere that the lower end of the (reading) scale is 6%. I don’t think I have seen anything lower than that on mine. I got reads on ply, solid wood, old and new. I have confidence in the meter and I tried it in every stick all over this 60 year old house. I found variation in new lumber, but a surprising steadiness-of-readings through my house. My unfinished oak floor project hasn’t jumbled up and ran out the door yet, a year later. I got a lot of comfort from having this information. A relative has a cupped, pre-finished floor in his place.... Good tool

Answer:	Not at all, the thermal imager is so so. But the true benefit is the ability to read the moisture content of material and to have all your customized readings on the screen at all times, including relative humidity, ambient air, etc. I have the 176 which does probe testing and also has a pad on the back of the unit, this pad lets you pull a reading without destructive measures (awesome for general walk arounds)! Can't remember what the other models offered, but I am happy with the 176. Great for mold and home inspections. I do also have an additional flir thermal imager. I definitely recommend one with MSX technology. The difference is unreal! Good Luck.

So, if the plaster, skin, wood and rugs have moisture, then this instrument will measure that moisture. Use the instrument on plaster that you know to be "dry" and use the instrument on plaster that you suspect might be wet. Then you can compare the reading of dry plaster to plaster that might be moist. You can put some water on a small spot of plaster, and you will see a lot of conductivity and a high reading.
Question:	What mode do I need to use for bamboo flooring
Answer:	Material mode 4 is use for concrete. For the best readings drill 2 pilot holes and place the moisture meter pins into the concrete. Pilot hole are not required though. Simply press the moisture meter pins on the concrete and you will get the surface moisture reading.
