Answer:	Yes, tie a string to it and lower it in the water until it reaches the bottom. Mark your string at the surface of the water, then pull the laser measure up out of the water and set it aside to dry. Lay your string out with the end touching a flat surface like a wall. Once the laser is dry, test it and if it's ruined, buy another one. Then place the laser at the end of the string and measure the distance to the wall. That will be the depth of your pool! Repeat as needed in the shallow end.

Answer:	yes, it works indoors or outdoors. With any laser the surface should be parallel for accurate measuring. On a bright sunny day no unless you're with 20 feet. How good are your eyes and how dark it is will determine if you can see it. on an overcast day around 40 ft I have problems finding the dot when outside. I have used it to measure both indoors and outdoors and find it works good. but don't go over the distance that it designed for (164.2 ft/50m) after that the measurements are off.

Distance measurement

When measuring the distance, first press the "DIST" button to turn on the laser measure, press the "DIST" button again, a red laser spot will appear, aim the laser spot at the desired target to measure and press the "DIST" button again to get the length of the distance easily.

Area measurement

Easily measure the distance between the two sides and the device just like a calculator can automatically calculate its area. Compared to using a tape measure, using a distance meter is easier and more convenient.

Volume measurement

Select the volume measurement mode, select the length, width and height to be measured and calculate the volume of the space after three consecutive measurements.

Pythagorean Mode

Measure the vertical distance between both sides. The Laser Measure automatically calculates the tilt distance based on the angle.

It can also use the Pythagorean law to make indirect measurements to calculate the height or length of objects from a distance.
