Answer:	No. The crystals will last much longer than the bulb socket which will corrode. It is much worse if you live in a high humidity area.

Answer:	There is an on/off switch along the cord of my unit. I have it flipped to on and attached to a timer in my living room so it is a "night light" so to speak. It stays on about 6 hours per day. You can't adjust the brightness but it is really lovely at night, producing enough light but it is not overwhelmingly bright. Hope that helps.

Answer:	I bought 2 and only took 1 out and 3 months later I took the other one out and the cord is broken. You can go buy a cheap lamp with same switch and swap it out to place on the salt lamp. I can't reach seller either.
