Answer:	The window mount without the extension is 26.6''. However with the extension the range is 37.4'' to 50'' inches. If your window is larger that 26.6 but smaller than 37.4, like mine, the window mount will not work as designed. You would either have to cut the extension or fill in a gap with something.

Comparing the specs off their website the only diff I could find was the older model FFRE1233Q1 has Air CFM 288/242/218 (hi-low fan) vs. 285/256/233 FFRE1233S1. This seems to affect the noise level. Q1 decibels are 59.8/55.7/52.1 vs S1 60/59/57 so low and medium settings are quite a bit louder. For this reason I'm going to buy the older model.
