| Answer: | Just got these for Prime Day deal. You need a hub to take full advantage of voice control (Alexa/Google). Otherwise, you need to set them up via Bluetooth for Alexa which means the Echo device needs to be within 30 feet of the lights. Even my Echo Dot 4 feet away from the lights, the operation of the bulbs is hit and miss. Worked bout 85% of the time. The rest of the time the Echo said it couldn't communicate with the lights. You can also use the Philips Hue (Bluetooth) app. For the price, I really was not impressed with the functionality of them. Also purchased some LOHAS Smart LED bulbs (got 3 bulbs for the price of these 2) and those work great. The LOHAS are both Bluetooth and Wifi, with no hub needed at all. Cant really recommend the Philips as I don't want to purchase a hub. Will most likely return these as the LOHAS bulbs work way better. |

| Answer: | I have one that came with my Echo Show 10, it paired with the Echo Show and the other Echos can control it no issue. But you have to have an Echo with Zigbee function - that means the older Echo Plus, or the new 4th gen Echo or an Echo Show 10. If not, you'll need to use Hue's hub and use the Hue skill to link to your Alexa network. Of the choices, I recommend the show, because it gives you visuals when installing. however most my smart devices are wifi using the Smart Life app and intergrate using that skill. |

The rubber portion of this item does not get small enough to fit around the piece that holds the fixture (cover) in place. You might have to remove the cover someway and leave it off so you can get to the bulb whenever it needs to be changed. |

| Answer: | Yes. You can use the Philips Hue bulbs outside. Just keep in mid 3 very important things - the first thing is, since they are WIFI controlled, they need to be in range of your WIFI router in order for you to operate them via WIFI. The second thing is, according to Philips, outdoor use of Hue bulbs will likely decrease the lifespan of the bulb considerably in comparison to when used indoors. The third thing is a personal observation - they are very expensive bulbs and hotly sought after. Installing them outside makes them susceptible to being stolen! If you're installing Hue color bulbs, you will obviously change the color of the lights. Others will see observe this and assume you have Philips or some other smart bulb (which they're all expensive), making them more susceptible to being stolen. Just a heads-up. |

| Answer: | I’m not an expert but my understanding is that you need the Hue bridge to control the lights. I have an iPhone and Apple Watch and use both to control my lights but that is done thru the Hue bridge. As an aside, the thought of adding another “black box” to my home (i.e., the Hue bridge) was not appealing to me at first but now that I have it and understand how it works I can see the benefits of having it control the 20+ lights (and growing) I have around the house. The Bridge provides a very nice interface for control timing, grouping, geo-fencing, and dimming/color schemes among other things. The Hue app is on my first page of apps on my phone and is the only one I use to control/configure my lights. BTW, the Bridge also works seamlessly with Amazon Echo and Alexa voice commands is how I access my lights 9 times out of 10 for random events. |
