Answer:	Hmmm, good question! I have a 16 lb kitty that likes to do the same but he's not allowed in the bedroom where we have this fan, so I did a little stability test of my own just now. Although it has a pretty large base, the base isn't weighted and the fan does wobble substantially when I pushed against it so I'm thinking if you have an overly enthusiastic kitty that likes to push up and rub against things (ours kinda rams himself against anything he rubs on more than brushing lightly against things), the weight of a 17 lb cat might would possibly knock this thing over. I'd suggest one of the Lasko Fans that has the faux wood trim - I've seen them in person at the store and they seem to be a bit more stable than this fan.

It matters very much. However, most electrical motors can be internally wired with 2 sets of wires to run on either 110volt on one set of wires or 220volt on a second set of wires. Check schematics or get an electrician if you cannot do this correctly. I cannot say if this fan is wired for both. Check this to be sure! Too much voltage can be deadly, cause a fire, and will likely to destroy the fan.

Answer:	Andrew, my ceiling is sloped and it is 11-ft where we put the ceiling fan. It only comes with a short down rod. I did purchase a longer down rod from a local distributor. I think it is 2 ft, but I can't remember exactly. It was under $20. The fan is great. Our electrician used everything that came with the fan even with the ceiling sloped and it works perfect. Only have to purchase a longer down rod. You must get the casablanca down rod. The others from the big box stores will not work properly. Hope this helps.
