Answer:	J118 specifies this type of double ended light bulb with 118mm length and J119 stands for 119mm length. Supposedly J118mm is more common but J118 and J119 sometimes may be interchangeable because of the spring in the light fixture allows a little fluctuation in length.

Answer:	Well, Texas weather is extreme in the opposite direction. It has certainly stood up to the extreme heat (the bulb is almost 1 year old). Our winter was extraordinarily mild by Texas standards. As far as your post light, it would depend on whether it was activated by a switch, or a photo-voltaic cell or timer. I would say yes to the switch and no to the cell or timer. Mine is on a switch that has a built in timer function. Because of the way voltage is applied through the timer (there is always a minute amount of current with a timer), it ignores the timer function. It does recognize the drop of electrical current from the actual switch so the hard on/off does activate the bulb correctly. Photo-voltaic cells operate similarly; always a minute amount of current applied. That is the problem with LED's. It only takes a minute amount of current to activate them. The effect is that your bulb will always be lit at about 10% illumination, but will never fully illuminate; even when it gets dark. I have the same problem with CFL's too.
