Answer: | Very strong won't come off easy. |
Question: | What is the range of the bridge, or do the lights connect through your router |
Answer: | Unsure, but bcight enough to be notices during the day |
Question: | The quantity says "2 pack." How many hubs did you receive |
Answer: | Depends on what kind of storm your chasing. Anything with high winds your going to want something permanently mounted. This one blows off between 55 and 60 mph. |
Question: | Does this hub have to be hard wired to a router |
Answer: | I initially charged it with a phone charger. Then, after I installed it on my car's dash, it self-charges through Solar Energy. Have had it for over 8 months, and it has never needed to be re-charged other than through Sun light. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why does my smart home plug work on some outlets and not on others? It works fine with my Echo when plugged into one outlet, but not a different one |
Answer: | All of the answers that suggest being on "A and B 120 volt sections" are wrong. This device works over WiFi. That old "A and B" advice is for obsolete powerline systems like X-10. Any problems are due to WiFi signal quality. The Smart Plug and Echo do NOT need to be on the same "120 volt section." |
Question: | Do I need an Alexa device in the home to control the outlet while we're away |
Answer: | As long as you have the app and the outlet is paired with your Alexa app, you can control it through the app (no echo device needed). |
Question: | Does it work with a 5g wi-fi or is like the other one you sell that only work with a 2g wi-fi |
Answer: | You probably don't want this device to use 5 ghz wi-fi, which has a limited amount of signal channels. 2 ghz wi-fi has fewer channels, running at lower speeds, and is generally conjested with traffic from your neighbor's wifi. You won't, however, notice a difference in lag for a smart plug due it is only using about 1 kilobit per second over a connectionless protocol to activate or deactivate the plug. This plug, running on the 2 ghz wi-fi, means that there is one more channel available on the 5 ghz wi-fi for a device that really needs it, like a TV or a gaming console, which tend to transmit at around 25,000 kilobits per second each. |
Question: | My Keurig has a toggle switch. Will this plug work, or does the appliance have to be turned on when it is plugged into the smart plug |
Answer: | I haven't even installed my smart plug yet and I can already answer this. The plug will turn it on but how would it press the button to brew? Again, I can already say it won't do that. Another answer mentioned using a switch bot. Okay. So smart plug $10-$15 plus switch bot $20 ... Dude, just go buy a coffeemaker with a clock/timer. They've been around FOREVER and will both turn themselves on and brew your coffee for you and you don't even have to make a whole pot. You can get an entire coffee maker for like $25 then use your smart plugs for something else/something that doesn't already have the ability to turn itself on/ect. :) |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long do the batteries last |
Answer: | It's going to depend on how often you use it. I have not gotten more than a year on the rooms I use every day. Make sure you don't over tighten that tiny screw on the battery door! Terrible design that makes it very easy to strip the screw. |
Question: | If i buy a second dimmer switch, will it be independent of the one i already have? i don’t want all lights to come on |
Answer: | You would have to programme it to be associated with a particular bulb or group of bulbs, so it would be independent of the current dimmer and any bulbs you have by default. However, if you buy one of the dimmer packs that include a bulb, sometimes the dimmer is already paired with the included bulb, so you would have to reset the dimmer in this instance. |
Question: | Do you need to use an app for this or will it just work with the bulb and remote |
Answer: | I purchased this via ebay. No. You do not need the app. Both the bulb and the remote will work fine without the Philips Hue Hub. The Philips Hue Hub is a product that allows the bulbs to interface with your phone. This system is designed to work out of the box with each other. The remote comes preprogrammed for the bulb. However, it is possible to purchase the Philips Hue Hub to use the (free) Philips Hue app with this bulb and with other bulbs in your possession, and that will allow you to re-set up the remote to accomplish more specific and varied effects like launching scenes that you have created. I am guessing that users who report needing app to set up the remote, first purchased a Philips Hue Starter Kit, (which comes with a Hub), and thus have only ever experienced using a Philips Hue Dimmer Switch with respect to the Philips Hue app, which will of course require a setup of the switch to integrate it into your existing system. This set will work conveniently and consistently out of the box. No phone, app, or Hub required. |
Question: | What happens in a power cut? When power is restored, does the light come on? Or does it return to it's last off/on state |
Answer: | Currently there are three options for the feature of Power On Behavior (which you can find in the Hue app at Settings). You can pick between: Philips Hue default, which will make your lights go back on on warm white, full brightness. Power loss recovery, which will make your lights turn on on the last used color and brightness according to the Hue app (of which Off is also a state). And as last, you can also pick custom, where you can choose your own color and brightness. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these work out-of-the-box with standard smart tvs, or do they still require a machine with the hue sync app installed to connect to the display |
Answer: | Yes, it stands even when plugged in. |
Question: | Does this work with 220v |
Answer: | It can be one of 2 angles. Balanced on the built in stand, about 45° or flat on it's back. With mine I drilled a hole and threaded it for use with tripods, I wouldnt removed this unless you are very competent in doing so, as the plastic can crack easily |
Question: | Where can I buy a second adapter if I want to use the light bars separately |
Answer: | Type in HUE and there are two Philips Apps in the Android Play Store. The Philips Hue Bluetooth App will control this lamp - you don't need anything else. I suppose with the other you need the Hub, but I was only interested in managing this one lamp. Nowhere that I found is this clearly stated. I found it by trying both Apps. |
Question: | How do the lights know what is on the TV screen in order to match up |
Answer: | Yep! It can be used while plugged in, and this will also charge the battery. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be set up to use and view on a desktop computer or does a person have to have a cellphone |
Answer: | The app can show water usage down to 1 minute intervals. So, in essence, you can capture the flow rate (GPM) of your appliances. The data is near-real-time, as there may be up to a one minute delay. We have had several customers use our device to do water audits, where they determine the flow rates of all of their appliances. As you said, you just need to run them one at a time. |
Question: | Does this work with a 240 line |
Answer: | On your meter, we can measure a flow rate as low as 0.02230774 gal/min. On badger meters, we are extremely accurate. If your meter says that you have used 100 gallons, the Flume device will say the same. |
Question: | Any monthly app fees |
Answer: | The Flume water sensor is powered by 4 user-replaceable AA Lithium batteries. In ideal conditions, these batteries can last between 1.5 and 2 years. All of the following are ideal conditions for maximizing battery life: - Outdoor meter pits where there is a direct line of sight between the Flume water sensor and the bridge - A short distance between the water sensor and the bridge (i.e. less than 500 feet). The shorter the distance, the longer the battery life. - Outdoor meter pits with plastic or concrete lids - Basement installations However, in some environments, the battery life can be much shorter. All of the following will reduce battery life: - Outdoor meter pits with metal lids - Outdoor meter pits that frequently fill with water - A long distance between the water sensor and the bridge (i.e. more than 500 feet) - Obstacles between the water sensor and the bridge, such as walls that contain rebar and automobiles |
Question: | Is there a subscription needed |
Answer: | I live in Austin, TX and purchased my Flume Water Meter this year in July of 2019. It is near the end of November and my battery still shows to be between 60-100%. The app only has three bars to represent battery consumption. I’ve not had any issues with the heat here in Austin, TX. |

Turning Power Into Knowledge
Emporia has developed the next generation of the Vue Energy Monitor. Committed to bringing the best value as affordable possible, the Vue provides everything you need to monitor your entire home's energy usage in real time. See how much electricity your home is using anywhere, anytime.
Monitor Individual Circuits without the Guesswork
Add individual 50A sensors to your Vue to monitor up to 16 individual circuits — providing accurate energy use for the appliances and equipment that is important to you. No guesswork. No trying to discern energy signals from background noise. Just simple, easy, and accurate insight into your home. 50A sensors are sold separately and also sold in bundles with the Vue.
Measure Solar Net Metering without Extra Hardware
Solar net metering is built right into the Emporia Vue. The simple Emporia iOS and Android app will show when and how much electricity you are consuming and when and how much excess energy you are producing back to the grid — giving you keen insight into the impact of your solar panels as they relate to your energy use.
Installs in the Electrical Circuit Panel of your Home
The Gen 2 Vue installs in your home's electrical panel using CT sensor clamps that go around your mains and the other circuits you wish to monitor. DIY instructions included, but a professional electrician is recommended. The Vue system is designed for field installation in a switch enclosure as per 312.8(B) of the 2017 NEC regarding Power Monitoring Equipment.
Do You have Metal Bus Bar Mains in Your Panel?
Our Flexible Current Sensor solution is now available on the EmporiaEnergy website. These current sensors are meant to replace the 200A main sensors that ship with Gen 2 Vues. They employ a bendable Rogowski coil with a 1.4” (36mm) opening that can fit around most bus bars or into tight spaces where a standard current sensors clamp cannot fit. Installing the Flexible Current Sensors is still dangerous, and Emporia highly recommends that installation be performed by a licensed electrician or other qualified professional.
Add Emporia Smart Plugs to Your Vue
Emporia Smart Plugs (sold separately) can be added to your Vue system to help you to not only monitor the energy of lighting and small appliances, but to also set timers, schedules, and turn them on and off from anywhere, any time with the Emporia app.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there a way to use this for security? will it notify you remotely or ifttt when it senses motion |
Answer: | Yes. I have mine pointed at my front door. Whenever it senses movement and I am not home (ie: my cell phone isn’t home) I get an alert on my phone. While it works for security, I also use it to know when maintenance is in my apartment, and it also triggers turning on the main lights. It’s all setup through iOS Home, so not sure about ifttt or Android. But definitely possible! |
Question: | What is the minimum amount of time after leaving the room before the lights turn off |
Answer: | There’s a setting in the app that says “when there is no motion after ___ minutes” the quickest setting is 1 minute. Then from there 2,3,5,7,10, and increments up to 60. |
Question: | What's the difference between this one(473389) and the other one |
Answer: | I have four Hue sensors– two in black boxes, two in blue boxes. The sensors in black boxes are not HomeKit compatible. The sensors in the blue boxes are. I don't know how that lines up with the product numbers. |
Question: | What's the battery life on this? Does the amount of traffic affect how long the battery last |
Answer: | Pretty much the shelf life of the battery. It's been more than three years since I bought the 1st gen and it's working just fine to trigger a garage and entry hall - and it has been well over 110 in that area for much of this past summer. I've not pulled the patent applications nor reverse engineered it but the circuit stays low (the least amount of power consumed) during the period consisting of daylight or other room lights on. I my case I'd bet that the sensor is consuming current for six hours a day for nearly 1,000 days. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can anyone explain what you mean when you say you need a hub to connect to Alexa |
Answer: | These are 60 watts + brightness at 6 watt usage. |
Question: | Will this connect to Echo dot 3rd Generation without a hub |
Answer: | I’m not sure since I’m not using the bulb with any shade. It is close in size to a regular incandescent bulb at the top and it appears like it may work but it it’s long design might not accommodate the clip of the shade to clasp around the bulb and because it lacks the bulb head shape. |
Question: | Do these bulbs use zigbee or bluetooth to connect alexa devices? description mentions echo dot (3rd gen) which does not include zigbee hub |
Answer: | yes |
Question: | do you need a hub to connect these to alexa |
Answer: | No the bulbs are clear with filaments inside- I purchased the daylight so filaments were whitish |
