You can’t compare light bulbs watt for watt if you’re interested in brightness. It’s all about the lumens.

The brightness of Edison bulbs is not as much as their traditional incandescent equivalents. This is desirable and intentional.

If a 60 watt Edison Bulb provided the same amount of light as a typical incandescent, the filament would be too bright to look at and appreciate.

The amount of light, or brightness, a light bulb provides is measured in lumens.

Don’t use wattage as a guide. Wattage is a measurement of how much power is consumed by the bulb. Lumens tells you how much light is created.

Notes on compatible lighting fixtures

When you’re buying a new fixture, take a close look at the dimensions of the fixture.

For sconces, pay attention to the distance from the junction box mounting to the top of the shade or fixture. Make sure you have clearance in the location for the sconce, taking heat from the light into consideration.

For pendant lights and chandeliers, pay attention to the drop length of the pendant, or the distance from the ceiling to the bottom of the light.

For a work surface like a desk, you want 2-3 feet from the surface to the light.

Answer:	This sounds like a short in the basement fixture or circuit. If it's the old porcelain type fixture and/or the fixture feels loose at all, it's possibly that. This bulb is 15w, which is very low wattage compared to older non-led bulbs. Porcelain basement fixtures can get loose, crack, or short (where wires touch metal or each other) when changing a bulb. An electrician is the real answer there, knowing nothing else about the situation. A light bulb being turned on should not cause a normally functioning circuit with all fixtures working Ok to trip. Maybe there's more to your story, but electrician diagnosis is my answer.

Answer:	The lights themselves will not dim however they can be used on a separately dimmer. These lights work great. I have them on my patio on a dimmer.
