Question:	Does this filter remove hormones
Answer:	The answer "ROES-50 system uses a high quality, .0001 micron Reverse Osmosis membrane and 3 carbon filters so it is designed to remove high levels of hormones and pharmaceutical drugs from water" is troublesome. Terms like "high quality" and "high levels" are arbitrary, and it's a safe bet people don't want arbitrary amounts of contaminants removed.
Question:	Hi apec, i see your offshore imitator is offering transparent 1st stage filter housings, why don't you offer one as well
Answer:	I bought the ROES-50 RO system in January 2016 and for the most part it has been great. Bought the pump to go with it as well as an auxiliary accumulator tank to use in addition to the smaller bladder tank that comes with the system so we can draw a couple of gallons of RO water at near full pressure at one go (set to 60 psi), and have the output plumbed to the sink faucet and two refrigerators with ice makers and water dispensers. I say all of this to say that I change the filters quite a bit and that it would be nice to be able to see the condition of the filters without having to shut off the supply from the house plumbing, and shut off both of the pressure tank valves as well as the system backfeed valve I installed just to get a look at the filters. I have a well and have two of the "dreaded" clear Whirlpool whole home water filter units, one at point of entry before the well bladder tank, and one after my water softener system and before my UV sterilizer, both of which have been in service for 18 years without issue. Everything is installed in my utility room on the wall for easy access, and I replace the O-rings in the filter housings about every third filter change and wash the housings out with a bleach solution, rinse them well and lubricate the O-rings with silicone grease when installing new filters every time I change a filter, and never ever tighten any of them tighter than hand tight unless there is a drip, but I can't recall there ever being one. I don't understand why people have filter housings break unless they are being over tightened, installed in a harsh environment exposed to the elements, or somewhere where they are subject to being hit with things and getting damaged physically, or in direct sunlight and subjected to UV radiation. Therefore I wish there was an option to purchase clear housings for the ROES-50 filters in order to make proper maintenance as easy as the rest of my system, because other than that, the only complaint I have with the ROES-50 is that the white bladder tank that came with it leaks air and I have to repressurize it about every six months. The larger blue auxiliary tank I bought has yet to need to be repressurized.

Answer:	This thing is very good. I drank quite a bit from some murky, dirty ponds with all manner of things in them. I know that these work on viruses, though some products offer an extra - Micro-Fine ceramic filter for extra assurance. Charcoal and 'hybrid type' filters with other elements besides just charcoal will remove most of 'heavy metals' from the water. My recollection was that this straw system did a pretty darn good job. If you are looking for one that you are going to use extensively and this is important for you, look into the Katadyn Hiker Pro. Did 14 days with it this summer and it was superb. This straw system lives in my emergency / earthquake kit, but I've used it camping and been happy with it.
Question:	does it take out 99.9999 of contaminates including radioactive elements
Answer:	I can't see a way to replace the internal filter. From my experience with filter straws, once they have reached their lifespan you buy a new one to continue your outdoor adventures.

Answer:	Purifying urine requires a process known as forward osmosis, a process that uses a concentrated salt or sugar solution to draw the water out of urine. Q: With this whole house system, do I still need to install a water softener if my water is very hard?

A: Yes, a water softener is needed if your source water has a high level of hardness, usually with TDS higher than 700 PPM. Hard water can reduce the lifespan of whole house water filter cartridges. The harder the water, the greater amount of scale buildup occurs, and the sooner the filters get clogged.

This whole house water filter can remove up to 95% of sediment, chlorine, rust, pesticides, herbicides, industrial solvents, VOCs, and various other contaminants that a regular water softener can't, although it does not soften your water. It is recommended that you install this WGB21B series whole house system after your water softener to achieve optimal performance if you have hard water.

To determine which product best suits your needs, it is recommended that you get a professional water test done prior to purchase to identify the main issue of your source water.

Note: Water Softeners and whole house systems usually do not lower the TDS level of the water. An additional Reverse Osmosis system may be necessary for your drinking water. Please consult iSpring professionals prior to purchase if you are unsure of which product will meet your needs.

Q: With this whole house system, do I still need to install a water softener if my water is very hard?

A: Yes, a water softener is needed if your source water has a high level of hardness, usually with TDS higher than 700 PPM. Hard water can reduce the lifespan of whole house water filter cartridges. The harder the water, the greater amount of scale buildup occurs, and the sooner the filters get clogged.

This whole house water filter can remove up to 95% of sediment, chlorine, rust, pesticides, herbicides, industrial solvents, VOCs, and various other contaminants that a regular water softener can't, although it does not soften your water. It is recommended that you install this WGB32B series whole house system after your water softener to achieve optimal performance if you have hard water.

Question:	How easy is it to clean and how frequently does it need to be cleaned
Answer:	It can be attached to a liter soda bottle. The red protrusion from that end that can be seen in the manufacturers pics is the inlet covered with what appears to be a push fit plastic cap. They come in a sealed plastic bag that I don't want to open till I need the filter. It's probable that some sized hose will fit the inlet when the red plastic cap is removed.

Answer:	Your product should be alright. The water filter is a closed container with a carbon insert, and a cap on to protect the interior. Wipe it off and it is ready to go. The air purifier works by pulling air through the material inside. It is easily protected by the cardboard packaging. You can wipe the dust off, and install it. Should not cause any problem. I did not recall the rattles. I happened to have the last one I replaced since I have not taken it to discard at the local environmental center yet. I shook it and it did rattle. Sounded like some miniature metal balls a bit smaller than the BBs you use to shoot in your Red Rider bb gun when you had a GREAT Christmas years ago. Question:	Can the outlet be adapted to standard plumbing? i plan to mount this away from the sink and already have 1/2" pex plumbing to connect to
Answer:	Yes. I did that today when I installed the water filter. Due to the way my 1/2" PEX plumbing was set up, I had to install a 1/2" shut-off valve that reduces to a 3/8" male thread in one unit. I added a 3/8" reducer to 1/4" to hook up the tubing from this kit. Make sure you install a shut-off valve between the water filter and the PEX line because you need to isolate the water filter on both sides when you replace the filters.
Question:	Will this system remove copper from my water? My tap water tests dangerously high in copper and I need to filter it out

Answer:	well you could filter salt water with it, but it still wouldn't be potable to humans =)

Answer:	You'll have to go on the data sheet from the manufacturer on the filter fiber diameter since no consumer can reasonably measure the filter tube diameters. And you'll have to do research on bad virus sizes to determine if those viruses will be blocked. But I'll say as a consumer of this filter over twelve days on the trail, serving 4 people (48 people-days) on the AT, no gastro-issues. And the filtering flow rate is amazingly fast.

Answer:	Everything that you see illustrated. There are two reservoirs, the filter and the hose. The only thing not included is the optional carbon filter which isn't neccessary. If you do opt to purchase the carbon filter, keep in mind that it slows down the filtration time drastically.

Question:	How often do the filters need replacing and what is the cost
Answer:	I use a 1-3-5 year schedule and my filter works as well now as the day I installed it: * Every year I replace the first three stages or the large vertical filters @$30-$50 if purchased separately * Every three years I replace the fifth stage filter, horizontal filter on the top @$20-$30 if purchased separately * Every five years I replace the fourth stage reverse osmosis filter @$30-$40 if purchased separately You can usually get a discount and get all five stages for @$125-$135. If you try to save money and not replace your filters as scheduled, you will probably foul up the stages behind it even faster. For example, if you try to save money by not replacing the first three filter stages you will end up having to replace stages four and five way more often. Question:	It says in the description that the unit removes flouride. Has anyone had a chance to measure the flouride levels in their water after filtering
Answer:	The System is tested under the Water Quality Association to remove fluoride at 97.7% and the membrane itself was tested by the manufacturer Dow Filmtec to remove at a range of 90 to 97%
