I bought it exactly for that reason not even suspecting the action would be as silky smooth as it is throughout the whole variable range from full flow down to zero (not even a drip) over a 90 degrees turn of the lever. The slide lever feels much better than the twist type does. What i especially like is how quiet the water goes through the valve whihc probably because its a (nylon?) closure with the turn axis parellel to the water flow rather than twist with axis perpendicular, therefore the water goes mostly srtriaght rather than having to turn around that bend and generating the usual sorts of turbulence vaccum noise ive come to expect from shower valves. yes you can hear it when its cranked down to low but still far quieter than my old valves. i used both the pivot style as well as what ill call the 'plunger' type where you push a little post through to stop the flow. im so glad i bought this particular item, i used those old cruddy values for almost twenty years not knowing what i was missing. I've moved those over to the 'guest' shower now but heck, you only live once so i will probably replace them with this one. As far as full flow rate, I'm in California where plumbing comes 2.5gpm and so took those flow restrictors off and use these type valves instead, which allows conservation to less than 2.5gpm but am able to open up for full flow whenever needed. And at full flow, i will say its far more than plenty. feels like more flow than any other shower valve ive used and those valves have smaller flow channels this one looks about almost twice the opening size since its has two sides (like butterfly wings) that open up, a design that i suspect might have somethign to do with cancelling out turnbulence noise as well.. my water pressure reads 99 psi. |

| Answer: | I've had all versions of this, NONE is "all metal" as some here are saying. IN all models of this lever, that moving part -- which is most likely to fail since you move it with use is -- PLASTIC. Also the total shut off at this valve is NOT recommended and is against code for a reason. The same reason why no showerhead has a 100% shutoff, since this can a) damage your main shower mixing valve (the one in your wall) by creating too much backwards pressure and b) allow hot water into you cold water supply. This is why no full cut off is allowed by code, and why you need anti siphon. |

| Answer: | I do not know. When I installed mine I used Teflon plumbers tape as an added measure to protect from leaks. Regarding the ball joint seal I would think that it would last a long time, as long as the water pressure from the street isn’t too high, and you keep your shower head clean and occasionally soak it in vinegar to get rid of the hard water deposits. |

| Answer: | The water diverter for wand is on the front lower part of unit. Water supply for whole unit is delivered thru top tube. your old shower arm changes out to a short brass fitting supplied.
