Question:	Smaller diameter rivets have a min and max grip range. These only show a "max." Is their "min" is basically zero? Simply: what is the min grip range
Answer:	The stated grip on the packaging of the Surebonder Rivet FPC86A-100 is 3/8" (9mm) - zoom in on the product photo and this can be seen clearly. The stated diameter of the rivet is 1/4" (6mm). Meaning that the rivet should be able to hold together roughly 3/8" of materials; however, I have not tested this maximum grip range to verify the accuracy of the packaging. With the stated diameter, the hole that the rivet fits in should be 1/4" or slightly larger. I did verify this measurement using two different micrometers, but be aware that the diameter is fairly close to the 6mm stated size, which is actually a hair less than the stated 1/4" size, meaning, in real terms, 6mm is not exactly the same as 1/4". So, applying this same measuring discrepancy to the grip range, the actual grip range could be slightly less than 3/8" if it was manufactured to the metric system specification: 3/8" = .375 inches, whereas 9mm = .354 inches.

Answer:	Yes. I believe that most school buses are made from either 14 or 16 gauge sheet metals. This would mean that joining them together would require a blind rivet of at least 1/8 in. The rivet in the accompanying description is 3/8 inch long. Also and just for general knowledge, you do not necessarily have to use steel rivets. If your application is not under a lot of stress, aluminum will work fine and be easier to set. This applies to steel applications only.
