Answer:	For this mailbox, you are not able to see the deposited mail clearly with the door fully open but can at the back end of the mailbox when it's partially open. I can see a possibility of pulling mail through the partially opened door although it would be difficult. Bad folks will always find a way to get to your mail if they really wanted to. If you can, put a security camera and aim it toward your mailbox. Even that cannot guarantee your mail will be 100% safe. But can add another layer of protection or deterrence to mail theft. The video can provide evidence to authorities for prosecution - Mail theft is a U.S. Federal.

I had to install metal strips to the rods and drill new holes in the posts, and then affix the post to the metal strips. I think the non surface post is for sliding over a wooden post that is already in the ground.
