Question:	I have a 5' post that has to be cut, any suggestions on height
Answer:	I would put the post covering next to the post and make a decision. Remember you will want the cover to go an inch or two into the ground. Note that if you choose to run the post all the way to the top of the cover you will need to drill through holes for mounting the shelf. This is what I did and it worked fine but if ease of installation is a concern cut the post below the shelf mounting holes.

Question:	It's a metal post ,so why does it say "fits over 4 x
Answer:	It's a hollow metal post. It is long enough to mount the mailbox at the USPO required height and only be a few inches into the ground. You use the wood post as the structural support for the hollow metal post. If you want your mailbox to stand up straight for many years, you need to dig a hole about 12-15 inches in diameter down to frost depth and cement the post into the ground. In my case the hole was 36" deep and I used (3) 80 lb. bags and temporarily braced the wood post while the concrete cured. This may sound like overkill but all of my neighbors mailboxes are leaning towards the street and mine is the only one standing up straight.

Answer:	Yes, it fits perfect, easy to assemble and it looks great, we have been very happy with the post/box combination. It's classy looking and well built. We shopped around for a good post/box combo and found some in the $400-500 range, way too much in my opinion, this is a great value. If you have an existing wood 4x4 mailbox post, cut it off about two feet off the ground and slide the new post over it then use the set screws and it's done.

Answer:	The mailbox is made of metal and will last about 10 years. I previously had one just like this one and bought the same to replace the old one. The metal rust at the ground level over the years.

Question:	What are the inside dimensions
Answer:	The sleeve fits neatly around a 4x4 so inside dimensions are slightly larger than 3.5x3.5 inches
Question:	Does it have to be mounted over a 4x4 or can just be cemented in ground alone
Answer:	Can be cemented in th ground without a 4x4. I did not use a 4x4 and even though only 10 inches went into the ground its very sturdy. I made the hole about 14. Inches wide fill it with some cement then placed the post in so the cement would get inside the post also. I did a second one but this time also installed bolts out of the holes that would be used to secure the post to the 4x4. The bolts i installed were 5 inches long. I felt that by having them sticking into the cement gave it a little more strength. Both ways I have no problems with. Guess if you want to be even stronger you could install a 4x4 a few feets down secure the post to it then place cement in the hole. Your call but I had no problem not using the 4x4 and they have been since May and are still strong. Hope this helps.

Our Newport Plus Mail Post offers a larger stronger mailbox arm able to handle added weight. Package contents include the decorative post, mailbox arm, and the hardware pack to install the arm. Mayne mail posts install easily over a standard 4x4 wood post. Bury about 2-3ft in the ground and leave 4ft above the ground. Slide the decorative sleeve over the post, attach the mailbox arm to the post, and then secure your mailbox of choice to the arm. Answer:	No, the arm is fixed. However, it is positioned on the post in such a way that it will accommodate a standard or oversize mailbox at the proper height. It is a very good looking assembly and is easy to install over a 4 x 4. You may want to make the arm more stable by using bolts through the main post and into the back of the mailbox, as described in accompanying reviews.

Answer:	The mailbox comes with a plastic sleeve that you fit over a 4 x 4 post. You have to provide the 4x4 post. It is a great, durable mailbox, by the way.

Question:	I'm confused...does this "combo" come with the post? Name implies it does but description sounds like it doesn't. I appreciate any help
Answer:	This is one solid plastic piece that has a hole in the bottom that you slide onto a wood post. We had to cut some off of our post to get it on there. It comes with bolts that you use to hold the plastic to the post so it will not come off. We really like ours.
Question:	Are the dimensions listed here correct? It says 22 x 12.4 x 15.2 inches. Does it mean it's only 15 inches tall? Need ground installation
Answer:	No it is a normal post that requires a 4 x 4 post in the ground with the rubbermail post over the 4x4. It is 22" long 12.4 wide and the 15.2 is the mailbox and paper holder. Great box

Answer:	Not for assembly. If you are placing in a everything I needed was in the box.but, if you are putting it on a dirt or sod ground you may want to reinforce with a premixed cement base. Not expensive and easy to do.

Question:	Anyone own this mailbox post for a few years? How has it held up? Do you recommend it
Answer:	I have only had this mailbox for a couple of months, but I know others that have had the same type for years and they have held up. I'm presuming that you know the post must be placed over a 4"x4" pressure treated post. When I installed mine I used a post hole digger and dug down 2', placed the 4x4 into the hole and back filled with dirt, no concrete, and filled the top 2" with crushed rock. I placed my street number on the vinyl post along with a 3" round red reflector for the snow plows this winter. Happy with my purchase and hoping to get many years of service. Good Luck!
