Use of other type of batteries will not only reduce batter life but may decrease the lifetime of the lock. I have tested "Heavy Duty" batteries myself and found a consistent 1.5 month battery life. While Duracell can last up to a year. This is all dependent on usage obviously, a lock opened every day will last longer then one used once a week.
