Answer:	This towel ring is not made of plastic. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. It is constructed of chrome. Even the ring is not cheap painted plastic. It is a great looking towel ring. In fact, I put one in each of my two bathrooms and am very pleased with them both.

Answer:	I can't really tell. The matching towel bar is hollow, so I can assume that the probability is that the ring is hollow, too. The ring ends are inside the joint, so I cannot see them to be sure. All I can say is that the Moen towel bar and ring set that I bought are attractive and functional.

Answer:	OOps, I didn't return it. I placed it another bathroom. It is exactly 6 inches from the outside of the ring to the opposite outside. I love it looks so sleek.
