Answer:	Dowels are wood, painted with acrylic paint...they are 7/16" and sufficient to support clothes. The rack is built well and should not be of concern on its functionality.

Answer:	I would say no to that. Depending on the capacity of your machine you may be able to use the larger one for most of a load. I still have to hang most of my shirts on hangers to dry. I use it mostly for underwear and some of my other small things and some tank tops. If I had a bigger room I would have gotten the large one, but this size fits perfectly in the space I have.

Answer:	Gosh that is a tough question:These are expensive large very tough racks worth every penny and they should be taken care of as a piece ofhome equipment I use my two daily 365.However when it comes to mold and un-spun clothes IMHO it would be too much weight for then tocarry and the porous wood could in time carry mold however I never recommend painted dowels on a rack either as the paint cracks and chips onto the clothes.If it were me I would use a thin good steel cord with heavy stainless eye hooks on treated 4X4's which would last a very long time and in winter I would pick my wash days carefully.Hope that helps it was my best effort and honest opinion

Answer:	No comparison !! This rack is sturdier, bigger rungs. and frame. Larger dowels leave no fold marks on clothing. Rack does not tip over, and is sturdy enough to move even when full.

Answer:	I've had mine about 3 years and it is just as smooth as when I bought it. I had intended to paint it when I purchased it for just that reason, but when it arrived and I saw how beautifully smooth the finish was, I left it natural. I still have no snags and no discoloration.

Answer:	15 total bars. Wood is unfinished, but is smooth enough - no splinters and problems encountered with tearing of clothes. As indicated, untreated wood, at least as far as I can tell. I suppose you could clear coat it if you wanted, but don't know the long-term effect of that clear coat to moisture. The rack has been helpful in drying king sized sheets and stuff we don't want to take a chance on shrinking when dried. Also, this stores fairly compactly in 9"w x27"d x42"h - width and depth numbers include space occupied by baseboards. Hope this is helpful. Dan

Answer:	Haven't had this rack for that long; however, even other wooden racks I've owned (of lesser quality) for many years had never developed mildew.

Answer:	It hook on the middle rack, where I unhook it to have to collapse, but picking it up on the top bar would probably work just as well. It's build so sturdy and is so heavy (made in the USA!) that there wouldn't be an issue folding it up either way. I expect the drying rack to last a lifetime. Thinking about getting another one.

Answer:	5 inches. I got mine and there were no crossbars to the top shelf or the bottom. I didn't know how to return it. I posted there were missing parts to no avail so I bought dowel rods the length I wanted and since the screws were in the box it worked like a charm and its better than if the bars had come with it. I know you didn't ask but felt like venting.
