Question:	Did you find it hard to sand/shape? I'll be filling cracks and holes in deck wood, and want to "feather" it in flush w/wood
Answer:	I have 20+ years in contract office furniture, specifically in Operations (8 years in Service) & Bondo is great for filling dents, divots, etc. I recommend using a non-flexible flat metal/plastic surface for your pallet. Work fast, it hardens quickly. Start with 120 grit & reduce to 220. We sprayed a light coat of primer to check our feathering.
Question:	Can this product be molded so as to create a 1" vertical edge as it's being applied or does it need a temporary barrier to keep it in place
Answer:	My experience working with the Bondo Wood Filler leads me to believe it requires a temporary barrier to form a 1" vertical edge. While the mixed compound is not "soupy," it is not so firm as to avoid slumping unless you were to build up the vertical edge in small (say 1/4") layers. After a few minutes the mixture does become firm enough to stand on it's own but at that point is unworkable. I hope this answer is clear and correctly addresses your question.
Question:	What ratio do you use for wood filler to hardener? I find the directions confusing
Answer:	I don't think you have to be too precise with the ratio. A little hardener goes a long way and this stuff sets up immediately. I used a hardener line about the length of a paper clip on a 4-inch dollop of the bondo filler and it worked fine.
Question:	Will it take a water-based stain
Answer:	Not an acceptable substrate for stain, however after priming may be painted over with laytex//water, acrylic/enamel, lacquer or oil based paints.

Question:	Is there a recommended temperature range for applying this product
Answer:	Yes ideally you want to apply where your temp is 72 degrees and 50% humidity. You can apply it between 65 -85 degrees. Any thing outside of that will affect dry and cure time.
Question:	Can I let the final Aqua coat layer stand two weeks before painting
Answer:	Yes you can let it dry for an unlimited time before applying primer and paint. Just make sure you lightly sand with 320 right before you start applying your primer.
Question:	what if the cabinets have already been painted? Should I sand them all the way down Or will a light sanding work
Answer:	If you have previously painted your cabinets you will need to let them fully cure [as per the manufacturers guidelines]. Not dry but cure. At that point you will lightly scuff sand with 220 to give it some tooth so the grain filler has something to stick to. After scuff sanding you can blow off the dust or use a cotton rag. Do not use tack cloths as they have oils and waxes in them and will repel the grain filler. Then apply 1-2 coats of grain filler. 1 coat of primer and 1-2 coats of paint. Always try your complete planned processes on the front of a drawer first.
Question:	Can I use this on old cabinets installed in 1972? Also, can I use it on the inside of the cabinet or is it just for the outer doors
Answer:	Yes. Inside or outer surface, wherever you have wood grain that you want to make smooth. I used Aqua Coat on the outside of oak cabinets and both sides of the doors and drawer fronts. The outside of the doors needed 3 coats with light sanding (220) between coats. It was labor intensive for the 22 cabinets I painted but well worth the time and effort.

Question:	I know that paint will bond to this but will it bond to paint? Can I apply it to a crack in a painted surface or do I have to remove the paint first
Answer:	Not sure. I would test a small area first, then try to use it. Let it dry then try to lightly pry it away from the paint. If it feels like its bonding, then try to finish the project.
Question:	Can this be used to fill gouges and dents in hardwood floors
Answer:	No, that wouldn't be a good idea at all! It might work ok on a stationary wooden item, but not something that is trafficked like a hardwood floor!!

Answer:	Instead use a cement based filler. For a small repairs use a premixed cement base crack filler like Henry Premixed Patch n' Level.
Question:	My cat scratched the top of a cabinet door and put some really good nicks in it. Will this make it look like the scratches never happened
Answer:	It would depend on what it's made out of/how it's finished. If it's stained wood, then, no, you'd need a stainable wood filler (this one isn't stainable). You could paint over this wood filler and it would look pretty good, however, after you'd sanded it down and everything. If the nicks aren't too deep, though, a touch up pen is your best bet. If they are deeper and your cabinets are wood and painted, this will work. Question:	Has anyone have success filling chips on hard wood floors and success staining this stuff
Answer:	I've done it successfully several times. I've had to mix a little wood glue with the filler each time and make more than one application since there is shrinkage as the mixture drys. Then I've roughed it up a bit with fine sandpaper and applied stain or varnish stain. Takes some care and practice.

Answer:	Hello, this was premixed and not just dry powder. As a "do it yourself senior of 87 (!)", I found it really excellent for what I needed for 2 medium sized jobs. It filled the holes and dried nicely. I bought it originally on a recommendation of a local timber yard and then bought another box from Amazon. If you do not use it all at once I found it useful to push it down off the sides of the box, and cover it with a bit of plastic very loosely on the top of the mixture, hardly touching. June.

Answer:	This fill need to be use and let dry for some time before you can stain /paint over it, and when storing it for the next time turn the container up side down so it doesn't dry out over time.

Answer:	It will harden with age, just sitting on your shelf. Or it might have come to you from old stock. Once the tube is opened, it will dry out and harden quickly. Probably need to get a new container.

Answer:	It would likely work. However you would need install a backing board to support it while drying. I would probably keep the backing board in permanently. I used it for filling in large gaps in a rotten window sill and it is performing great.

Question:	I have old polyurethaned oak cabinets. Do I clean, sand prime cabinets first then apply aqua coat or is the process reversed
Answer:	The most successful process for refinishing your cabinets with Aqua Coat Grain Filler would be as follows. 1 We highly recommend you do this process completely to the end on the back of a drawer to help you assure success. 2 Sand with 220 grit sand paper. Wipe down with a dampwater paper towel or old t-shirt. Do not use tack rags. they contain oils or wax 3 De gloss 4 On your sample drawer back, apply 2 coats of Aqua Coat Grain Filler with a credit card. bondo blade, rag for curves. Lightly sanding with a 320-400 grit paper in between coats. You are not sanding it down, you are not sanding it off, the only reason you sand is to form a better bond between coats. Only sand immediately before applying the next coat. 5 for testing purposes On half of this drawer back apply a third coat. When you have completely gone through the testing process you will be able to decide if you need 2 or 3 coats. Lightly sand 3rd coat with 320-400 immediately before applying primer. 6 Apply 2 coats of a high build primer water based, oil based, solvent based 7 Apply 2 coats of a quality paint. water based. oil based, solvent based To save an immense amount of time we highly recommend going completely through the testing process to see if you need 2 coats or 3 and have confidence in your process.
Question:	Have you had any problems when filling in deeper gouges or chip out? I have used another product and it left the areas white when it dried
Answer:	If you left areas white then you applied it to thick. It is a pore and grain filler. Not a deep gouge filler. If you would like to touch up deeper indentations add a little sawdust from the piece you are working on to the grain filler.
Question:	How do i apply material
Answer:	I've used this on several guitars (including mahogany, spruce, padauk, bubinga). After sanding, I apply any stain I might want. Usually, I just use Minwax natural to add depth with not much color. I follow that with a coat of Zinsser Wax Free Seal Coat, diluted 50:50 with denatured alcohol. After a light sanding I do 2 or 3 coats of Aquacoat, using either a motel keycard as a spatula or just rub it in while wearing nitrile gloves, making sure to wipe off the excess to minimizing sanding. After it's dry, I lightly sand it, looking carefully for any spots that had build up, and finish it off with a dozen plus light coats of aerosol Deft Lacquer (gloss of your choice).
Question:	If this has a jello consistency, how will it stay in place when applying it to my upper cabinet frames? Won't it run off a bit
Answer:	Yeah, it will stay in place in a vertical application. Even upside down. It's way thicker than Jello. More like vasoline once spread. Once any stain or sealer is applied, I add a coat of gloss finish. Then, you can really see the pores or tear out your trying to fill. Add a the aquacoat, let it dry (20 minutes or so), sand, and repeat a few times. Then, proceed with finishing. Works great.

Question:	Which sandpaper grit should I use to smooth it out
Answer:	I used this to fill in holes caused by woodpeckers. I believe last summer I used a medium fine grit. Doesn't take much to smooth it out.

Answer:	Did u "work" the tube (with lid on work up & down because sometimes it separates a little from sitting). If that doesn't work then return it for new 1. Should be kind of a thick toothpaste consistency.

Answer:	Use glue and a wooden matchstick. Put wood glue in the stripped hole. Insert the matchstick and let dry. Cut the matchstick flush with the surface and drill a new hole. Larger holes use multiple matchsticks or slivers of wood

Question:	Did anyone try to stain this with color? Does it blend
Answer:	It sometimes has a terrible reaction to some chemicals and stays pink. There's no guarantee with this unfortunately.
Question:	can dye or colorant be mixed in before application
Answer:	It is pink before it dries, so don't see how you could pre mix the dye
Question:	I need to repair a pine table, but will only be sanding and waxing it -- will the white show? Is this only for use on something to be stained or paint
Answer:	The white will show...I don't recommend it for what you need. Good luck!
Question:	I bought a container about two years ago, and its a little stiff. can it be thined out to make it softer. what can i thin it with. thank you
