3 best innova light meters
Innova light meters are essential tools used in the field of electrical testing and measurement. These meters are designed to accurately measure various aspects of light and are often used in photography, cinematography, agriculture, and lighting design. Here's what you need to know about Innova light meters:
Purpose: Innova light meters are primarily used to measure light levels or illuminance, expressed in units such as lux or foot-candles. They help determine the amount of light present in a given area, which is crucial for various applications.
Photography and Cinematography: In the world of photography and cinematography, accurate light measurement is essential for achieving proper exposure.Light meters are commonly used by photographers and filmmakers to determine the correct settings for aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to capture well-exposed images or scenes.
Agriculture: Light meters find applications in agriculture, particularly in greenhouse and plant growth studies. They help ensure that plants receive the optimal amount of light for photosynthesis, growth, and flowering.
Lighting Design: Lighting designers and architects use light meters to assess and plan lighting schemes for indoor and outdoor spaces. By measuring illuminance levels, they can create well-lit environments that meet specific requirements and aesthetics.
Types of Light Meters: Innova offers various types of light meters, including handheld, portable, and digital models. Some models are specifically designed for specific applications, such as photography or industrial use.
Measurement Units: Light meters can measure illuminance in different units, depending on the model. Lux (metric) and foot-candles (imperial) are the most common units used to express illuminance.
Operation: Operating a light meter typically involves pointing the sensor or detector at the light source or the area you want to measure. The meter then displays the illuminance reading on its digital or analog screen.
Calibration: Light meters may require periodic calibration to ensure accurate measurements. This involves adjusting the meter to a known light source with a predetermined illuminance level.
Battery-Powered: Most Innova light meters are battery-powered, making them portable and suitable for on-the-go measurements. It's essential to keep spare batteries on hand to prevent disruptions during measurements.
Data Logging: Some advanced models of Innova light meters may have data logging capabilities, allowing users to record and analyze light level data over time. This can be valuable for long-term monitoring and research.
Accessories: Innova may offer various accessories for their light meters, such as protective cases, tripod mounts, and calibration tools, to enhance functionality and ease of use.
Innova light meters are valuable tools for professionals and enthusiasts working in fields where precise light measurement is crucial. Whether for photography, agriculture, or lighting design, these meters provide accurate data to ensure optimal results and efficiency in various applications.

User questions & answers
Question: | Why do some buyer reviews mention rpm reading by this timing light when all other evidence indicates it does not feature rpm reading |
Answer: | The 5568 most definitely displays RPM, perfect for setting idle speed, or open throttle RPM on lawn and garden equipment. |
Question: | Would this work on my 2004 infiniti FX45? I just need to know if I need only this tool or I need other items with it. Any advise is really appreciated, if another tool is recommended for the same car then please let me know |
Answer: | I've used this on my 1993 7.3 idi, worked great, also on an older diesel tractor. |
Question: | Does this light work correctly with wasted spark setups or does it require the plug fire only every other crank revolution to show correct advance |
Answer: | Yes. Since a diesel does not use electricity to run a converter box is used to meter fuel flow off the #1 fuel line which it converts to electricity so you can use a timing to set timing. |
Question: | does this timing light display rpm's |
Answer: | It doesnt work for any engine. I would strongly reccomend you find another timing light. I 100% regret buying this light. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I own an Innova 3300 that over estimates voltages, 9V PS reads 10.5, 12V reads 13.8, 3.7V battery reads 6.24 what can I be doing bad |
Answer: | I would advise against it. This is only a CAT 2 rated meter. That means the internal safety features are not sufficient to handle the higher potential voltage and energy that could come about at a meter panel. http://www.ni.com/white-paper/5019/enYou really want a CAT 3 meter if you want to measure any live breaker panels. If you are going to test for bad circuit breakers that are disconnected from the live wiring then you could use this meter to check for continuity and the like. Do not use this meter on anything more powerful than a wall outlet. CAT 3 meters are available for not much more money. |
Question: | What's the lowest ohm reading it is capable of |
Answer: | Yes, the Innova is great for finding parasitic leaks in boats and cars. Turn everything off..... EVERYTHING and then disconnect the negative battery cable. Insert the meter in series with the neg bat terminal and the end of the cable. If there is a current leak it will show on the meter when it is set on the AMPS function. Becareful that you don't turn anything on when the meter is connected because the AMP mode is not fused. If a current reading shows on the meter start pulling fuses and disconnecting devices until the reading drops to zero therefore isolating the problem |
Question: | Can I use this meter to test for bad circuit breakers at electrical panel or electrical outlets at home? I'm newbie; want learn how to use. Thank u |
Answer: | I'm assuming you have tried moving the main test mode selection dial to some position other than 'off'. Do you have another 9V battery on hand you could use instead? It's possible the battery you received with the tester is bad. If another battery does not solve the issue, then it's possible you received a bad unit. |
Question: | I am searching for current leak in a boat (12v battery). Will this dial down to low enough amps to diagnose? Thanks |
Answer: | It will measure down to 0.01mV in both - AC and DC modes, thou manual says - 0.1mV. |
