I looked around for those & couldn't find them, but found 10A 250V and these worked OK. Question:	Can this handle being plugged into a wall socket? Also, can someone give a walkthrough of how to safely test a socket
Answer:	plug the red lead into the meter socket marked COM and the black into the center meter socket. Set the dial to V~ (for AC volts) on the 200 scale (for household current) insert one probe lead into each of the wall socket's vertical slots and move them around a bit inside the outlet slots to make sure you're getting a good connection, if in doubt plug a lamp or something into the socket. If you suspect the outlet socket itself has failed carefully remove the wall plate in order to access the actual wires connected to the outlet to be sure it's either a dead circuit or the outlet itself has failed.

Question:	Can this multimeter be used on vehicles for a parasitic load test? I don't want to spend over $400 for the Fluke 88 as it is for personal vehicle use
Answer:	it has been used on motorbikes for sure. It just needs to be in amp mode. If you're doing parasitic load, then you're focused on DC Amps. The 117 has up to 6, while the 88 has up to 10. I don't see a big issue as you're just doing parasitic, not actual use. If anything actually pulls more than 6, you'll blow the internal fuse and have to replace it, but that's about it. Shouldn't be a problem(I've just tested mine on my car and it works).
Question:	What are the differences to pick between the Fluke 117 and the Fluke 115? My intended use would for ham radio and kit-building of electronic kits

Two are for 120 volts AC and two are for a toroidal current transformer that is supplied with the unit. One wire of the 120 volt AC load (preferably the hot lead) goes through the center of the toroid current transformer. Hope this helps.

Answer:	I have used a similar meter to watch the combined starting and glow plug current on a diesel Sprinter. No problem. Since this uses a Hall Effect sensor, instead of routing the 400 amps *through* the meter, overrange current pulses should not be a problem.

Answer:	While this meter reads to 1 milliamp that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is accurate to 1 milliamp. It drifts quite a bit in the milliamp range. You are given the option to zero it out before taking a reading, but it does continue to drift. It is a marvel that a Hall effect meter that can read DC is offered at this price, but don’t expect +/- 1 milliamp accuracy. I am a physicist by training and at one time worked at Textronix, a premier provider of test and measurement equipment.

Answer:	It not only measures DC current accurately via the clamp but it also indicates the direction of the current. Due to the disagreeing answers on this question, I went ahead and bought it. Most cheaper meters do not but this one works great for it.

Answer:	Sounds like what you need is a Kill-A-Watt meter (brand name). You plug the meter in the wall then plug the appliance in the meter. Real simple. Gives amps, watts, volts, etc.

Answer:	The clamp (non-contact) can only measure current (amperage), not voltage. To measure voltage, you'd need to use the probes on a physical connection (terminal or bare wire).

Answer:	Nobody else said it, but if you use the clamp meter, it must be around a SINGLE wire, it will not work if you clamp around both wires of the cable. You must separate the wires, and clamp only one wire. And the clamp is only gonna measure current, so if the lamp isn't working, this probably won't work. If the plag is plugged-in though, there will be a voltage present, so a non contact voltage tester should be sufficient enough to tell you it's live. Please be careful.

Answer:	The manual says for testing a 9V battery, the load is approximately 300 ohms; a 30mA load. For a 1.5V battery, it says the load is approximately 30 ohms; a 50Ma load. That's for a model DM91A (the sales page still shows model DM91... mine is new as of September 2019, and is marked DM91A).
