User questions & answers
Question: | Why not at least list a few voltages on the scale? They would sell a lot more, at no additional cost |
Answer: | Try plugging everything in the back of console. And make sure everything is plugged in right spots |
Question: | Does this unit test batteries under load rather than a straight voltage test |
Answer: | Wireless keyboard and mouse need to be connected to their respective ports. So if you have a wireless keyboard with a USB dongle + mouse with its own USB dongle, it will work. Do not expect to connect a wireless keyboard+mouse to be connected to a single port. We have tested with NEXILUX keyboard/mouse for android TV and it works. But only as a keyboard or a mouse (one at a time) |
Question: | Does this show any readings between completely full and completely dead? In my experience, testers with the needle gauge never show anything in betwe |
Answer: | Normally it works but we do not test it yet. |
Question: | Can button batteries as used in watches be tested by it |
Answer: | In my experience so far (owner for a little over 2 weeks), no connection issues at all. This thing works great! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you test cr1632 3 volt batteries |
Answer: | Made in China. Have tested a 2032. but not the 2450 |
Question: | How does it work |
Answer: | Yes. Mine will bend to almost 90 degrees before the tip kinks. The length of the useable tip (after the bend) is approx 1 3/4" long. |
Question: | How to use this. Which side down |
Answer: | Batteries are hard to figure out at first. The best advice is probably to compare one or all cells to the others on one battery. Comparing one cell of one battery to one cell of another is not good. I would first read up on batteries in general through facebook or an RV website. The hydrometer is a good unit, but the glass tube is very fragile. Mine was received with the upper portion of the glass crammed into the rubber stop inside the bulb. I had to break it off evenly and repair it with some silicone gasket material. I think you will be impressed if you compare it to one of the plastic ones. |
Question: | Will this test 3v button battery cr2450? Also, is this made in China |
Answer: | Yes as long as you have access to the acid in the battery. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the bat-250 smaller than the bat |
Answer: | BAT-200 doesn't test coin and watch batteries and BAT-250 does - KDProTools |
Question: | Trying to figure out the differences between the BAT-200 and BAT |
Answer: | Yes, you can determine the state of charge ( the terminal voltage) of a 12 volt lead acid battery. I did a quick test a few minutes ago on a spare car battery I have that I charged a few days ago. Using a digital volt meter, the terminal voltage was 12.55 volts, which is typical for a good battery that hasn't been badly discharged, or charged within the last few hours. Using the GTB-500A battery tester, set on the 12 volt range, the needle rested over the first O in GOOD ( upper scale). Putting the meter on the 15 volt range, the needle rested on the " 60%" mark , over the top scale. Since a recently charged lead acid battery can be 13 to 13.5 volts , using the 15 volt scale is safer , and won't overload the meter. I don't know where the meter needle would be if the battery voltage was, say, 13 volts , or a slightly discharged 11.9 volts. Don't try to read the battery voltage while it is being charged , since the terminal voltage can be as high as 14.5 volts. That's where using the GTB-500A for a rechargable lead acid battery gets a bit difficult, since there's no numbers on the scale. Besides determining the current state of charge, often a load test is done to determine if a car battery is good. First, you must attempt to fully charge the battery . Then , a fairly high load of 100 or more amps is put on the battery, and the terminal voltage is observed. That's a test that the GTB-500A tester cannot do , since the load it puts on batteries is quite small, and you still cannot read the exact voltage number. A small digital voltmeter is a better choice for checking the state of charge of a lead acid battery, since you get a number. For a more extensive test, a battery tester with a load capacity of at least 100 amps can tell you if your ( fully charged) car battery is sound, or going bad. Smaller lead acid batteries , such as used for alarm systems and small riding mowers, are tested using a lower amperage load. |
Question: | Does this tester make the measurements with the battery under load |
Answer: | Yes. It has 9 test positions, as follows: Button Cell & Zinc Air 1.3V -1.5V, AAA-N & Ni-Cad 1.5V, AA-C-D 1.5V, 22.5V, 15V, 12V, 9V, Photo 6V, Lithium 3V |
Question: | What is the different between the Amprobe BAT- 250 and BAT 200 tester |
Answer: | No it does not use an internal battery, the meter gets its power from the battery being tested, the better the battery the stronger the test reading. The main purpose of this meter is to give you a general idea of remaining battery life. |
