User questions & answers
Question: | In a 3 way installation it's mentioned you need ipv0r sensor remote. is that another switch or will any switch work in 2nd location |
Answer: | Any switch will work in the 2nd location. However, if you turn off the 2nd location switch, the sensor remote won't work, until you turn the other switch on. |
Question: | will heat from a parked car engine prevent it from turning off |
Answer: | It doesn’t in my garage. You can adjust the sensitivity. I find that the trigger is more the movement of the IR source that triggers. If I sit in a chair and don’t move for 15 min, the lights go off. If I park a vehicle right in front of the switch the lights will go off after the time out. So static heat source is not a trigger. |
Question: | It is can be work at 220 Voltage |
Answer: | It is not specified to work at that voltage |
Question: | How much distance will this detect |
Answer: | I do not idea about the distance in perpendicular direction. My sensor is installed in a narrow corridor so the detection is done on an inclined plane. The detection range in that situation is about 2 meters. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this switch lighted when *ON*? It should be, but reviews are mixed on this point |
Answer: | The one illustrated clearly is a three-way. The Leviton description and spec page also has it listed as a three-way (http://www.leviton.com/OA_HTML/ProductDetail.jsp?partnumber=1223-PLC§ion=41455&minisite=10251). My order never went through, as it said there were two left but when it came time to ship there were none to be found. Just make sure you run an extra neutral for the pilot light if you want to take advantage of that feature. |
Question: | Catalog number and description say it is a three way but technical details have it as a single pole. Is it a 3 way that is illuminated when on |
Answer: | No |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these are counterfeit Leviton. made in China |
Answer: | It reads 660 watt max total for both bulbs, but I use two fluorescent at 40 watt each just to make sure. The adapter itself is very fragile. Mine broke. |
Question: | What is the max wattage for the bulbs you can use in this |
Answer: | That’s what I use them for. They are kind of flimsy and if you tighten the bulbs too much the adapter will break. |
Question: | would this work for outdoor floodlights |
Answer: | I haven't used that type of bulb myself in the socket, but it is a standard socket and anything with a standard base should fit...just like the ones in regular house lamps. I have used incandescent, fluorescent, and halogen bulbs in these. |
Question: | will this work with 60 watt Edison bulbs |
Answer: | I have them installed in my stairwell to my basement. They are brighter when the light is on and glow dimly when the light is off. They do not require a neutral wire in the hookup. Basically a neon lamp in the toggle acting the same as a neon tester with one lead in your fingers. |

- 2-pole/2-wire design; cam-type; taper nose; UL-CSA rated
- Measures approximately 4 inches long by 2 inches wide by 4 inches high
- Indoor use only
User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used outdoors, exposed to rain? Anybody know if there is one to use outside |
Answer: | you could put a plug in socket adapter into one side and a bulb in the other, but not a wired one. both sides are threaded for light bulbs or adapters. |
Question: | Can I. Insert a 2pole 2 wire socket into one side of his |
Answer: | I believe the limit is a combined total of 660 watts for the two-receptacle adapter. That said, you should be able to use two 300-watt incandescent bulbs at the same time (=600 watts). If I were you I would use two similar bulbs of the same type and wattage, whether incandescent, fluorescent, or LED. I run two table lamps with these adapters, each with 2 dimmable LED bulbs, 17 (or so) watts each, for a total of 34 watts, through a single rotary dimmer switch. Used every day, it has now been nearly 4 years and have never had an issue, let alone a problem. I also have a floor lamp with a similar arrangement, but using a 4-bulb adapter -- again, have never encountered a problem. |
Question: | what is the max bulb watt this adaptor can use |
Answer: | I'm not sure if it would overheat, or not. Depending upon the shade, it may not fit...sorry, I couldn't give you a solid answer. |
Question: | Can I use this in a semi flush mount drum shade chandelier? Mine only has one bulb and I need more light. Could this overheat my fixture |
Answer: | They are made in China. |

The Leviton ODC0S-I1W Ceiling-Mount Self-Contained Occupancy Sensor is the cost-effective choice for commercial and institutional spaces where traditional ceiling-fixture installation is difficult, inconvenient, or costly. Ideal for storage areas, small bathrooms, copy rooms, mop/sink closets, or small spaces without wall switches, this self-contained sensor will help reduce energy costs and it does not require an external power pack and will help reduce energy costs.
Automatic Lighting Control for Energy SavingsIt's well-known that turning off the lights when leaving a room is one of the simplest ways to cut down on energy usage. Yet it's not always convenient or easy to remember, especially in rarely used storage spaces or rooms in which a variety of people are coming and going throughout the day.
The Leviton ODC0S-I1W Ceiling-Mount Self-Contained Occupancy Sensor helps eliminate this problem by providing automatic motion detection for lighting control. It has an adjustable 360-degree field of view and offers approximately 530 square feet of coverage when mounted at eight feet, reducing the number of sensors required in many spaces. It also offers an adjustable, delayed OFF time setting between 20 seconds and 15 minutes for maximum savings.
About PIR Technology
The ODC0S-I1W uses Passive Infrared (PIR) detection technology via a segmented Fresnel lens to monitor a room for occupancy. This specialized lens divides the field of view into sensor zones. When a person passes into or out of a sensor zone, the sensor detects motion and switches the lights ON. The lights will remain ON as long as there is an occupant in the room. When the space being monitored by the sensor is unoccupied for the preset time you've entered, the unit will switch the lights OFF.
Manual Override and LED Indicator for Easy Operation
For added convenience, the ODC0S-I1W offers an ambient-light override option that can be set between 0.5 and 500+ foot-candles at full brightness to prevent the sensor from switching lights ON when there's sufficient sunlight, regardless of occupancy. A standard A/C toggle may also be used to switch lights OFF during presentations. And to ensure continual operation, an LED indicator flashes when the sensor detects motion to verify power placement and proper functioning of the unit.
Compliancy and Warranty Information
UL Listed and CSA certified, the ODC0S-I1W complies with the California Title 24 Energy Code and FCC regulations. It is backed by a five-year limited warranty.

Our History of Ingenuity
After immigrating from Russia to the United States, Isidor Leviton opened a small tin-smiting business in 1906, where he produced mantle tips used for gas lighting. With the invention of Edison’s light bulb, Leviton shifted to manufacture a single electrical product: the pull-chain lamp holder. During our earliest years in business, the population of New York City began to increase dramatically. Leviton supplied the switches, outlets, light sockets and other electrical parts for them. During the 1940s, Leviton also helped manufacture parts for machinery. Our Journey from electrical to lighting to networking, Leviton is engineering thoughtful solutions that help make life easier, efficient and productive.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the warranty on this? Mine stopped working |
Answer: | The instruction manual says 5 year warranty. |
Question: | Is a neutral line required |
Answer: | No, the other answers are wrong. I've installed 2 of these and the manual that it ships with shows that it is powered through the ground wire, and if you watch the install video here on amazon it also shows the same. |
Question: | will thsi work in Europe |
Answer: | all depends on your voltage in Europe. Seems to me if it is 110 to 277 volts there should not be a problem. anything more than that and it probably will not work. best bet would be get ahold of Leviton. |
Question: | Hi, can i use them in 3 way? I need to place one on the top and another one on the bottom of my stairs |
Answer: | Yes according to the instruction manual here: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71rJUsXIQ3S.pdf (link above feedback on Amazon) Connect Black to blacks. Connect the blue wire on each to the black wire going to the light. That will allow both to sense motion at same time. Can also be used with a normal 3 way switch where blue is the carrier wire. |

Leviton ODS10-ID Decora Wall Switch Occupancy Sensor
The Leviton ODS10-ID Decora wall switch occupancy sensor is the ideal energy-saving choice to provide automatic (auto on/off and manual on/auto off) lighting control in a variety of commercial and residential applications, including offices, conference rooms, multimedia rooms, child-care centers, and more. The ODS10 is the perfect solution for controlling a wide variety of load types. It features a low-profile digital design and vandal-resistant PIR lens. It does not require a neutral connection, and it installs in place of a single-pole wall switch to fit in a standard wall box.
Automatic Lighting Control for Energy Savings
It's well-known that turning off the lights when leaving the room is one of the simplest ways to cut down on energy usage. Yet it's not always convenient or easy to remember, especially in places where a variety of people are coming and going throughout the day.
The ODS10-ID helps eliminate the problem of load type selection by providing automatic control of incandescent lamps, fluorescent, and low-voltage lighting with electronic or magnetic ballasts. It provides an adjustable 180-degree field of view with optional adjustments for sensitivity, ambient light override, and delayed off time. The unit also features a manual override switch that can be used to keep lights off while an area is occupied, which may be desired in conference rooms and other areas during slide or film presentations.
For increased energy savings, the ODS10-ID offers a light sensor which provides an ambient light override option that can be set between two and 500+ foot-candles at full brightness to prevent the sensor from switching lights on when there's sufficient sunlight, regardless of occupancy.
About PIR Technology
The ODS10-ID uses passive infrared (PIR) detection technology via a segmented Fresnel lens to monitor a room for occupancy. This specialized lens divides the field of view into sensor zones. When a person passes into or out of a sensor zone, the sensor detects motion and switches the lights on. The lights will remain on as long as there is an occupant in the room. When the space being monitored by the sensor is unoccupied for the preset time you've chosen, the unit will switch the lights on.
Long Life and Automatic or Manual Operation
To ensure longer service life and compatibility with electronic ballasts, the ODS10-ID carefully times its switching-contact opening and closing with the zero crossing point of the AC power curve (Zero Crossing Technology). Additionally, a latching relay provides prevents product failure when used with high inrush loads.
For manual control, the ODS10-ID features a convenient push-button switch. If the lights are off, pressing the button will turn lights on and keep them on for as long as the room is occupied. This mode is ideal for areas where manual on switching is required but automatic off switching is desired for energy savings (CEC Title 24 Compliant). Lights can also be turned off manually at any time by pressing the push button.
For three-way and four-way control, the ODS10-ID features multi-location capability, where multiple sensors can work with one load. Multiple sensors are wired together with the load to turn the lights on. Both sensors must time out or both manual buttons must be pressed for the lights to turn off.
Compliancy and Warranty Information
UL-listed and CSA certified, the Leviton ODS10-ID Decora wall switch occupancy sensor complies with California Title 24 Energy Code and FCC regulations, and is backed by a five year limited warranty.
