User questions & answers

Question: How long is the warranty period
Answer: it says 5 yr in description specifications , which is it please
Question: I want to use this for a 3 way switch. Can the other 3 way switch be a standard Leviton switch (what's already there
Answer: Yes it should work
Question: Has anyone had an issue with your led's remaining slightly on when this switch is in the off position
Answer: When the locator light is in the ON position, a very small amount of current is passed through the LED bulb. Very sensitive LED bulbs may appear to glow from this current. To fix, turn the locator light to the OFF position.
Question: I have dimmable leds, but. They don't dim very low, and at high end they flicker, any help
Answer: Unfortunately, not all "dimmable" LED lights are "made equal" NOR are all "dimmers" made equal. I continue to have a very similar problem with this dimmer and my dimmable LEDs as well. I have a little background in electronics and have concluded that in my case, there is simply a problem with the Leviton dimmer design. One thing I did while testing my problem, might help diagnose the problem your are having. Note that the spec on the dimmer is "300-Watt LED". Check that the total "load" on the dimmer is

User questions & answers

Question: I plan on using this with a track lighting kit that uses dimmable leds. do i need anything (transformer?) between this switch and the track fixture
Answer: It would depend on the rack light system you use. If it uses 120v lamps then no. if it is a lower voltage lamp system it would have its own transformer as part of its installation and this dimmer is probably not what you need. You would then want a dimmer designed for low voltage applications. As far as I know though there is no hard and fast rule on this today as all the dimmers and transformers are electronic and may or may not be compatible with other electronic devices including the led drivers fjord the particular lamps in the track system you select. You should consult with the dealer you ate purchasing from and the installing electrician. If you ate doing it yourself you'll need do your research through the manufacturers of the equipment for comparability like the electrician would.
Question: What size bulb can be used with this dimmer? There seem to be all kinds of size bulbs available
Answer: That's right in the description: 150 watts LED / CFL, 600 watts incandescent. Just add the power requirements of all the bulbs controlled by the dimmer. For example, I'm using it to control 4 60 watt incandescent bulbs, total 240 watts. For LEDs / CFLs, use the actual power required, not the "equivalency". So a 23-watt CFL that says it's as bright as a 100 watt incandescent still only counts as 23 watts.
Question: difference in led and incandescent lighting dimmers
Answer: Some incandescent dimmers modify the output of the power in such a way that it either won't work at all or can damage the LED dimmer. LED dimmers I believe use finer PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) which will work with all dimming bulbs - incandescent, CFL, and LED bulbs. Using LED bulbs with a non-LED dimmer is a bad thing as is using LEDs that are not designed to be dimmed at all. The payback for the additional expense of the LED dimmer is pretty quick if it removes a large enough incandescent light bulb.
Question: Led dimmable bulb is flickering with this switch, is it bad
Answer: Problem: Flickering or FlashingPossible Cause #1: Incorrect VoltageLED downlights have a specified input voltage. Incorrect voltage to the driver can cause the LED to flicker or toflash on and off. * Check the input voltage of the driver (Ex: 120V) then check the voltage being delivered to the fixture (Ex: 277V). There may be a mismatch. If possible, replace the driver on the downlight for one with the correct input voltage to match the line voltage or, if that is not an option, install an applicable voltage transformer to the line voltage to achieve the required input voltage for the original fixture.Possible Cause #2: Incompatible DimmerIf the LED downlight was not designed for a particular dimming load or if the driver is not compatible with thedimming control then issues may occur. * Try bypassing the dimming circuit. If the LED functions normally then an incompatible dimmer or dimming load may be the issue or the driver is not a dimming driver. Consult factory to determine whether the driver is dimmable and, if so, what kind of dimmer is compatible with the driver. Please check this web link for a list of factory qualified compatible dimmers: http://www.liton.com/webcatalog/brochures/wp_dimmingfacts.pdfPossible Cause #3: Occupancy Sensor/Control Rated WattageThese controls sometimes have a minimum rated wattage in order to function correctly. For example, theremaybe a minimum of 20W required for the control unit but the LED might only consume 10W. * Add additional fixtures to the circuit to get to the required wattage for the dimming control or replace the dimming control unit with one that has a lower wattage requirement.remedyremedyremedycontinue...TROUBLESHOOTINGLED DOWNLIGHTSA DIVISION OF EEMA LIGHTING GROUP * 5461 WEST JEFFERSON BLVD., LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA * PH: 323.904.0200 (1 800 515 4880)FAX: 323.904.0201 (1 800 972 4880)Problem: Flickering or Flashing cont..Possible Cause #4: Dimmer OverloadA common problem with LED dimming is the inadvertent overloading of the LED driver. LED drivers are rated fora maximum load (measured in volts, amps and/or watts) that must not be exceeded. The number of lamps that can be installed on a single-phase control dimmer may seem to be an easy calculation. For example, suppose you want to know how many 15W LED fixtures can be installed on a 600W dimmer. Youmight divide the 600W by 15W and determine that you could control 40 fixtures. Unfortunately, that result mightbe wrong. In fact, you may only be able to use 6 LED fixtures on a dimmer rated for 600W.Even though the LED fixture may draw only 15W continuously, there may be a start-up in-rush current or arepetitive half cycle surge that makes the dimmer think that the current is much higher. That 15W LED fixturemay appear to the dimmer as a 100W incandescent load. If that happens and you are using more than 6 LEDfixtures, you will overload the dimmer. The average start-up or half-cycle stress that has been observed is the equivalent of a 100W incandescent lamp, even for LED loads of less than 20W! * For 10W & 15W Liton -DLV products, consult the charts in the LED Dimming Facts Guide to reference tested maximums by dimmer. * Remove the dimmer from the line to see if the problem is solved. * Change dimmer to one with a higher maximum load. * Split the circuit into multiple loads.Possible Cause #5: Dimmer UnderloadSome dimmers may not perform well if too little load is put on them. A minimum number of fixtures may berequired to operate correctly due to the 25W - 40W minimum load that most incandescent dimmers require tooperate correctly under all conditions. When using incandescent bulbs, the minimum load requirement waseasily met. However, with LED four or more loads may be required for a dimmer to reach the required minimumload. * For 10W & 15W Liton - DLV products, consult the charts in the LED Dimming Facts Guide to reference tested minimum by dimmer. * Remove the dimmer from the line to see if the problem is solved. * Change dimmer to one with a lower minimum load.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this dimmer stand 12 AR111 12Watts each
Answer: Dimmer will control 300 watt dimmable LEDs if the AR111s you have are dimmable 120V 12Watt lights then switch should be OK as 12 lights would be ~144 Watts
Question: We were trying to connect this switch, the light is on but the dimmer is not working, its a single pole, what am I missing
Answer: You need to be using "dimmable" bulbs, either incandescent or LED, but not fluorescent. If you are using dimmable incandescent or LED bulbs, I believe there is a slider control (switch) somewhere on this switch to choose either incandescent or LED. That needs to match your bulb type.
Question: I installed the switch as well as dimmable led bulbs. they work on the dim setting but they blink from half all the way to full power, any ideas
Answer: I've had similar issues and took it up with Leviton on their website. They initially just asked me to send it back to them, but I stopped short stating that I didn't particularly want to "finance" that. So they did send me a replacement unit and a prepaid shipping label. The replacement one is "better", but sometimes it still goes into flicker or as I call it "spazz" mode. They have asked me for the exact bulbs I'm using (Ecosmart Classic Glass Bulbs from Home Depot) but nothing further from them. I use those same bulbs in (2) other fixtures with Lutron LED dimmers (Model# TGCL-153PH-WH and Model# CTCL-153PR-WH) and they both have worked flawlessly for about a year. Never a single flicker. Bob
Question: Where is the locator light
Answer: Mine has a green LED at the top of the toggle switch. It is almost impossible to see in the light, but when the room is dark, it is visible without being disturbing. It comes defaulted to OFF. There are two micro switches on the front of the switch, which are hidden once that switch plate is put on. The top switch has an A and B position. A (the default) is for LED and incandescent lights. B is for CFC bulbs. A second switch, lower down, is for the locator light. Set the switch to ON if you want to use the light. Set these switches before you put on the switch plate because the plate covers these switches.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this item post to China directly from your warehouse
Answer: No it will not. The 2nd switch will have to be the Decora smart remote switch. You can fine them listed here. http://www.leviton.com/en/products/lighting-controls/decora-smart-with-homekit-technologyI was not very happy with a 3way set up. There is a lag when the remote switch is used. The lag is short but long enough to make you question if you hit the switch correctly.
Question: Do these come in a version without the logo on the front
Answer: I tested this as I have a camera in my Garage where I have the switch located. I was at work, Asked Siri to turn on Garage lights and I could see them turn on. Then I turned them off. So ti does work off your network. Now it doesn't say anything about needing a 4th Generation Apple TV to work outside of your network like some other devices I've seen mentioned. So I have no idea if that's true or not. But I do happen to have 2 of them, so maybe that's why it works for me?!?!?! Maybe that's part of the Homekit specs? The AppleTV 4th generation being a bridge to the outside world. Looking through the instructions, I can't find a single thing about AppleTV.
Question: Is there a compatible led edison e26 bulb
Answer: To long to read: wifi limited to routers only able to give out 32 ip addresses. Wifi slow even with the switch having line of sight. Wifi clutter in apt and neighborhoods. Lutron hub doesnt have these issues Actually lutron hub uses a proprietary frequency that is optimal to go through walls and not cluttered with wifi enabled devices. My router can only handle 64 devices but 32 hardwire and 32 wifi and after months of trying leviton i am choosing to lutron my whole house. Dont get me wrong. If you want a few smart switches, this is cheap. If you own a house or live in apt good luck fighting for wifi space. I live in a neighborhood with around 14 wifi spots. My second router exclusivly for iot is 20ft wih line of sight. And this switch is too slow for me. When i open my home app all my lutrons are reconzied. I contantly get issues with this leviton. Its like in some power safe mode. Lutron hub is great because i dont have to give them ip addresses and can have 50 switches throughout my home. Yeah wifi limitations are real. Wifi switches are terrible. I've had logi pop, wemo, leviton none of them work as easy and fast as lutron. Even the app looks better than leviton.
Question: I installed these dimmers with LEDP3120WH - 120V Direct LED Puck Light Kit. When I turn the power back on the lights pulse/flicker constantly. Ideas
Answer: I can't answer that, but I will say that requiring a hub is no big deal, and in many ways a hub is an advantage. One obvious advantage is that it works with multiple protocols, such as HomeKit, Alexa, and Google Home. And a hub can also run a schedule for your lights (on a dusk, off at dawn, random when you're away, etc.). If I'm spending $1,000+ on switches and dimmers for my house, does it really matter if I have to spend another $50 or so on a hub? "Requires no hub" is marketed as a feature, but a hub never bothered me and you give up too much no having on. Long story short: they could, if they used a hub.

Lutron Diva C•L Dimmer Diagram

Adjustment dial fine tunes dimming range for your specific bulb.
Lutron Diva C•L Dimmer Works With Diagram

The C•L Dimmer works with a combination of CFL, LED, halogen, and incandescent bulbs and can be used on the same circuit.
Precise Light Adjustment with Slider

Whether you're reading, watching TV, entertaining, or enjoying a romantic dinner, the Lutron Diva C•L Dimmer lets you choose the right level of light for your activity. It's easy to make subtle adjustments using the discreet slider next to the large paddle switch. When you use the paddle switch to turn lights off and on, it defaults to your preferred lighting level.

Works with Dimmable CFLs and LEDs for Increased Energy Savings

The Lutron dimmer works with dimmable CFLs and LEDs up to 150 watts, a great energy-efficient alternative that can last up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. Plus, by using less electricity, theses bulbs help protect the environment by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide released into the air.

HED Technology for Enhanced Performance

Thanks to Lutron's HED technology, this dimmer actually improves the performance of dimmable CFLs and LEDs compared to standard dimmers by eliminating flicker, ensuring lights stay on when they are dimmed to a low level, and making sure lights operate properly at all levels. Lights will stay on even during voltage fluctuations, which can happen when a device like an air conditioner or a hair dryer is operated nearby. For safety, the dimmer is UL listed for a broad range of dimmable CFL and LED bulbs.

Compatible with Other Lightbulbs and Mixed Loads

For added functionality, the dimmer also provides full-range dimming for halogen and incandescent bulbs. There is an adjustment dial to set the low end of dimming range for your bulb type for most efficient operation.

The dimmer also works with a mixed load of light sources, so a combination of CFL, LED, halogen, and incandescent bulbs can be used on the same circuit. It can be used for single-pole and three-way applications.

Fast and Easy Installation

Installation is easy--just replace your existing light switch with the Lutron Diva C•L Dimmer and install in less that 15 minutes. A modern wallplate--with no visible screws--blends into the surrounding wall for a subtle finishing touch.

The Lutron Diva C•L Dimmer is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

From the Manufacturer

Control the next generation of lighting with Lutron's dimmable C.L dimmers! Screw-in dimmable compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and screw-in dimmable light emitting diode lamps (LEDs) are a great energy-saving alternative to incandescent or halogen light sources; however, dimming them may be difficult. Lutron's new dimmers with HED Technology provides a solution to alleviate your dimmable CFL and LED dimming challenges, while setting the right light level to improve mood and ambiance. The Diva dimmable CFL/LED dimmer with HED Technology features advanced dimming circuitry that is designed for compatibility with most high efficacy light bulbs. With the same features as Lutron's Diva dimmer, the large paddle switch turns the light on/off and returns to your favorite setting. The discreet slider adjusts the light level to suit any activity. These dimmers improve the dimming performance of dimmable CFLs and LEDs compared to standard dimmers. Lutron dimmers with HED Technology also provide full-range dimming for halogen and incandescent bulbs, ensuring today's dimmer is compatible with tomorrow's light sources. User questions & answers

Question: Is anyone using this with an LED and if so, for how long and how is it working? Thanks
Answer: I'm using this with two 12.5W Soraa High-CRI "Vivid" series LED PAR30 4000K bulbs (total controlled load: 25W) and it is the finest dimmer switch I've ever used. With the "Advanced mode" custom programming (Technical document: www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/048459.pdf) to adjust the "low trim" (dimmest point) I can get these bulbs to be on and stable at only
Question: Can this handle dimming LED lights all the way down so they are actually dim, like the incandescents? Yes, I have an LED light bulb that is dimmable
Answer: I have the Wafer 6 in. White Integrated LED Recessed Kit that Home Depot sells. They say they can go down to 10%.. I had another switch in previously that the lights wouldn't dim down as far and would turn off randomly when dimmed down all the way. If you use the adjustment feature in this switch it seems like they go down to that no problem. I've been running them for a day and no flickering or turning off. If anything changes I'll leave an updated comment or update this answer. Two factors you'll need to look at: 1) what is the LED bulb rated to go down to 2) Is this dimmer compatible? If your LED bulb says it can do it try many different dimmers until one works :)
Question: The max brightness seems lower than when I had a non-digital dimmer. How do I adjust? I see instructions for the lower dim range but not the max
Answer: Please see Lutron's Application Note #459. All of these settings are NOT listed in the manual that came with your switch. www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/048459.pdf You want to adjust IL7, the high-end trim.IL1: Preset Light Level (last setting or set permanently)IL2: Fade ON Time (0.75 to 15.0 seconds)IL3: Fade OFF Time (0.75 to 15.0 seconds)IL4: Delayed Fade to OFF (time to leave the room - 10 to 70 seconds)IL5: Enable/Disable Indicator Lights (LED dots off or on)IL6: Low-End Trim (minimum brightness)IL7: High-End Trim (maximum brightness)
Question: how much power do led indicator lights draw
Answer: Approximately 0.02 Watts (2 cents per year at $0.10/kWh) if they did the job right of designing it (switching converter,) and 0.25 Watts (20 cents per year at $0.10/kWh) if they took the lazy way out (simple resistor.)

Question: how do i set it to pairing mode? the green light is not blinking anymore

Answer: Simply snap the light almond covers on
Question: Since I have a 3 way dimmer, do both switches need to have a neutral wire? Only 1 of mine has a neutral wire and I couldn't get it to work
Answer: Yes, these come with only white plates. No light almond!
Question: Can the plug in dimmer be used to dim lamps, via Alexa, that do not normally have the capability to dim

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used in multiple gang box
Answer: I have 3 switches in inbox and two in another; as well as a couple single switches.
Question: Chandelier using 5x40w led bulbs which draw about 40w total. So will the 150w dimmer work
Answer: It appears that you are exceeding the limit of this dimmer 5 x 40w is 200 watts. More than likely, you will damage the dimmer. Use a higher rated dimmer for your applications. Also, be sure that the dimmer is rated to use LED lamps. In addition, make sure that the LED bulbs are rated as dimmable. I have ruined dimmers in the past that were not properly rated.
Question: Can a standard switch plate cover be used with this device
Answer: Yes, it take a normal switch plate. It needs to be a new square one.
Question: Does this comes with the external plate? Amazon suggest to buy a plate as separated product, but pics suggests that it is already included
Answer: Wow, never had an Amazon user question before and I flubbed it. We're in new construction without an internet connection and just now cobbled together a patch with my phone. You've probably already figured this out but the box does not contain the wall plate, just different colors trims and controls that fit within a decora plate cutout.
