Answer:	I own the smaller 13 gallon version of this can. It comes in 3 pieces, the bottom (the actual can itself), the silver colored ring (which holds the trash bag liner in place), and the dome shaped lid that includes the swinging door. For the 13 gallon version, the height of the bottom piece without the ring or the dome shaped lid is 21 inches. The ring adds about another 3 inches. I own 3 of these cans and the first thing I did was throw the lids away so I have the cans and the rings and no lids. This can holds far more than 13 gallons and it's plenty big for my needs. It's the best trash can I've ever owned because the locking ring holds the trash bag in place so well and it's very easy to remove the bags. Also, I drilled a couple of holes in the bottom to have an escape for air below the bag and also to make bag removal easier.
Question:	My homeowners insurance won't pay out if not UL-listed - are these listed
